Southend Auto Care

Since moving to Tacoma, my partner and I needed a new auto shop and went to Southend Auto Care a couple weeks ago for routine maintenance on our 2017 Chevy Volt (it's a plug-in hybrid) because they already have great reviews on Yelp. I sent a request via their website and they scheduled my quickly for the next week. I checked in on time and the service was great.

I had no idea if the car even needed any maintenance and they were honest and fast. Trevor was the technician who is apparently extremely knowledgeable with hybrid cars so I'm glad we found this shop. They worked quickly and provided a printout of diagnostics to show if anything would be needed in the near future. They also vacuumed the front floors for free which was a nice surprise because I needed to do that for some time. Very professional, friendly and great service all around!

Love the service, Lexus quoted $1,800 for my a/c repair. Sam was accommodating, gave me a loner which I appreciated and they got the parts from my Lexus dealership, installed for $999.50. I highly recommend them, they care about their customers.

I was looking for a new business to take my vehicles to and now I have found one. I am the type of person who will spend a few hours researching my vehicle's problem to see if I can fix it myself. Then I will look up the price of the parts for a general idea of what the repair will cost. I like to take my vehicle to a mechanic to see if they match what I see.

To me, the most important trait for mechanics is honesty and Mark and his team carry this trait. I was given a quote that was spot on for materials. I believe the labor was more than anticipated, but my quote stayed the same. Not only did Southend Auto Care do a great job, they are a business I now trust. They even go the extra step of offering shuttle rides when you drop your car off. Thank you Southend Auto Care!

When I dropped my car off for service, I received a text outlining a vehicle inspection, with pictures to bring to my attention recommended maintenance based on priority that would allow me to prioritize future service schedules. The work was performed on time, and at a fair price. I appreciate the attention to detail, friendly service, and no pressure approach to car maintenance and repairs. Thanks again guys!

Do not trust this company. They gave me an estimate for repair that began at $800 and rose to$4500. I paid the $800, which included 7 quarts of transmission fluid and the determination that the transmission was good to good. I drove it for a day and the transmission quit. I had the vehicle towed back to their shop. They determined the transmission needed a new (used) torque converter.

It is obvious they did not looked for this problem during the initial repair. Once I learned of the inclining repair cost, I chose to have the vehicle towed to my house where I would have time to find an alternative solution. The vehicle is a handicap van I used to take a relative to medical appointments. Two days ago, the relative was diagnosed with terminal cancer with weeks to live.

This fact changed the need to spend any money on the vehicle. I asked AAA to tow the car away from the shop. They refused, city a policy that if the shop "could repair it" they would not tow the vehicle. This illegal partnership between AAA and the shop makes victims of all patrons. I hired a private tow company. The ship told me I had to pay them $180 for a 'diagnosis' in order for them to release the vehicle.

This is a shoddy business method, un-Christian and unfair. I have reported this practice to the BBB and will follow-up with a complaint to the Washington State Attorney General. Kenneth Robinson Editor and Publisher Robinson Newspapers/Seattle westsideseattle.com

Great service and repair! My second visit to Southend Auto Care. Both times, the customer service was top notch, the staff super friendly, and the repair/maintenance work on my car flawless. The plastic that was covering the underside of my car had come apart while I was on the freeway and it freaked me out, luckily I found South End near by and they fixed it for me quickly til I could get the replacement part and had no issues. By the time I had my appointment they had to reschedule because they were short staffed, which I totally understood and didn't think it was a big deal coz they did a quick fix on it before.

I had to come in the next week for a different problem on my car and were able to fix it for me. When I got it back I noticed it was a bit wobbly when I would drive it on the freeway and the owner texted me a few days later and said they can take a look at it. Besides it being a little pricey, I had no issues with SouthEnd. The guy Sam who helped me was super nice and I appreciated him helping me when I was in a bind. Their office was also very clean, welcoming and I didnt feel intimidated.

My 2002 Wrangler kept overheating and so I replaced the water pump, thermostat and the housing and still the jeep kept running hot so I took it to them and they did their test and suggested I replace the thermostat and radiator to which I told them they can see the thermostat is new as in couple of days old and so they went to suggest I do the radiator to which I asked how much that would be.

They told me that for the right one with labor and the special fluid, $1000.00. I told them no and that Im coming to get my jeep. I took it home and went and got a radiator for $150.00 and did the job and now the jeep is good and back on the road. My issue with them was the cost of radiator replacement given the jeep only has 4 bolt holding the radiator plus the 2 hoses and to charge that amount is insane. I wont be going back

Fixed up my Mazda 3. Had an extended warranty through MaxCare (CarMax), and they replaced my windshield motor perfectly! Kept in touch with me throughout the process, even had a shuttle service pick me up and drop me off. Very few privately-owned shops provide such service. Easy to locate, off Hyway 99 (Pacific-In Fife), right next to Gethmane Cemetery. Sam and Caleb both were awesome, professional, and straightforward.

We highly recommend southend auto care! We have been going there for several years and they have always taken great care of us. They are very thorough, knowledgeable, friendly and great value for your dollar. I Purchased my new car at a local dealership and have now switched to southend auto care because of their service and the fact that they listen to me!

I purchased a used Jeep and needed to be sure there weren't any hidden issues. I got in touch with Southend because of the 5 star ratings. I was not disappointed! They were able to get me in on the day I called and provided me with a service loaner so I didn't have to miss work. They went above and beyond checking every last thing and didn't try to sell me parts I didn't need. What a refreshing change from previous shops. Such a great place to do business. I highly recommend them.

Excellent service! Sam and Mark are great. I won't take my cars anywhere else from now on. I think their cost is more reasonable than other shops and my car now runs great! Mark even checked in to make sure everything was good a few days after I picked it up. I have never had that happen before from an auto shop. I highly recommend them.

I've been going here many years. They're more than fair with pricing and diagnostic work. They offer financing and loaner cars. I've never had a mechanic shop I trust more.

They Couldn't make the same noise I heard. Lol. That's Mechanical for ya. But they did check out all the other options and found a bad Bearing on my front end and fixed it. Very Honest and I will definitely be going back when I need my Vehicle's fixed. Thanks Mark and Sam and everyone there.

It's hard to find a good mechanic. Even harder to find a great shop that's welcoming and professional. This was my first time going and I'll definitely go back. I needed a brake job on my Jeep Wrangler. Was making some noise, not sure what. Made an appointment on line. Was easy. Was surprised when I got a phone call from Mark, the owner, before my appointment.

He was calling to talk about my brakes. Really cool. I felt that level of attention throughout the whole process. Dropped off my Jeep. They figured out what I needed and called me. Then did the work. There were some things that DIDN'T need to be done. Never had that before. Everywhere else always wants to replace EVERYTHING. Brakes are great and I'm happy. They checked me a few days later to make sure everything was good.

Stand up Shop and Techs. I've never had to wait long to get an appointment. They talk you through the process. They have always been fair and willing to work with me. Sam even stayed late to make sure my daughter was able to get her car, after she got off work so she had a car over the weekend.

This a professional, honest, and reliable auto shop! Their prices are fair and if your car has to stay all day or overnight they will give you a loaner car if you have full coverage insurance and if there's any available. Mark, Sam and the team are great! I take my car there any anytime I have a question or worry and they will evaluate your vehicle for you, and you will feel comfortable having work done there, trust me! It's hard to find an honest shop these days, you don't have to worry about them telling you that there's something wrong when there isn't and they will give it to you straight!

Found Southend Auto Care due to a recommendation from our auto warranty company. I was running late to get to them before they closed and was perfectly content with leaving my car in their parking lot and dropping the keys in their night drop. My wife was waiting there for me so I had a ride home. I got their 15 minutes after their scheduled closing time and Sam was waiting for me so he could put my car in their garage to keep it safe. They quickly fixed my check engine light issues and got me my car back in a couple of days. Top notch customer service!

Pros: - Fair pricing - Expert in most cars (even certain European cars!) - Straight forward answer (important to me) - Will show you how to fix something if you're a DIY kind of person (like myself) - Friendly staff Cons: - Nothing I can come up with as of right now. I've been in the car scene for years and ever since I move down in Federal Way, I had to switch Mechanics (I had to anyways - see my other reviews for a laugh).

There is nobody else I trust but these guys at Southend Auto Care. Mark the owner of the place is a very genuine, honest, and caring person. He even texted me to personally ask about my experience with them. What really sold me in this place initially was the quoted prices for the requested services (I called 2 other places prior) They will typically be few hundreds less, but minimal at least $50 less than dealership or other mechanics locally would charge. Anyways, the fact that they are willing to give me knowledge about how to fix my car. blows my mind. They even gave me photos of the issues in my car and Google parts for me to use to fix my car. Highly highly recommend.

I went back because my problem from the start didn't get fixed. Telling me that it was the old shop that did the bad things. It's like passing the bucket. It's like going to a doctor and your child is crying, doctor can you check why my child is crying came back after three days, child still crying, doctor said, "well, I gave him shoes so he wouldn't get injured and knee pad, here's your bill" but the dad said, "he is still crying".

Take him to the doctor that made him cry. I should be annoyed but the mechanics are annoyed that I came back. They didn't do the job that I ask them in the first place and if I can just go to the other shop, I should not be paying 1200 for extra things that I don't need because it didn't fixed my problem.

I can't say enough positive things about this auto repair shop. I brought my mother's older Mercedes into for repairs and told them my situation. Sam clearly explained my options and probable outcome for each item that needed repairs so I could decide which I needed. This is definitely my new go to auto shop.

I've brought 2 of my 3 vehicles here for issues I've had. I believe the first time you bring your vehicle there they do a courtesy inspection for the whole car free. They fixed The parking brake for my Pontiac GTO which jet Chevrolet wanted to charge me an arm and a leg for. A new E brake handle is very expensive. I found one on eBay used and they installed it.

I was very pleased. I know I have some basic knowledge on working on vehicles but when it's something too much for me to handle I know I can trust these guys to get the job done. They don't guess what the problem is. They use the right tools to get down to the issue so there's no guesses on the fix or getting the wrong fix and having to come back. There's no hassle if you choose to not get a service done. They're very honest and very knowledgeable.

Came in to get my wheel bearings replaced and my transmission serviced. They were able to do the replacements and service the next day and even offered a ride to and from the shop while they were fixing my car. While they were working on it they called to let me know that the wheel bearing had seized into the wheel when they went to replace the left side which was an extra hour and a half of labor.

But they said they wouldn't charge me any extra for it. They also said since it took a little longer they wouldn't be able to finish by the end of the day and offered me a loaner car for the night. The next day I got a ride back to the shop and my final total was about $50 LESS than what i was quoted. They also did a free courtesy inspection and told me what else i might need to get replaced next. Awesome customer service! Would recommend.

These guys are great, took care of me and should sense of urgency to get my service van up and running. They have earned my business!

I could go into a long dramatic story of our broken down Jeep limping in to the Southend Auto Repair parking lot on a Friday evening after closing, to be greeted by an awesome employee leaving late for a basketball game (yes, he was in a white truck), stop to help us. I will spare you the details, because all you really want to know is: *Were we treated well: absolutely, these people are awesome!
