The Kalapuya people were the earliest inhabitants of this part of Oregon. Hunters and gatherers, they burned the grass to clear brush, increasing the local game and vegetation and creating a wide, grassy prairie. The first white settlers, Elijah Bristow, Eugene Franklin Skinner, and two other companions arrived in what is now Lane County, Oregon in 1846.

Owner
The year was 1973. I was living in Salem, Oregon. Someone's misfortune on Interstate 5 made a hobby and eventually a profession for me. I bought me a 1963 Porsche 356 from a very distressed driver, who's Porsche caught on fire on Interstate 5.
What started as a hobby developed into a project and finally took me into a profession. This journey has sent me through becoming a member at associations such as ASA, ASE (Automotive Service Excellence).
I took Small Business Administration course at Lane Community College and graduated. What a journey it has been. While taking care three kids of my own, running the Car Service Center, wrenching under the hood of cars I managed to create a Soccer club named Cosmos which fulfilled the requirements of local youths for several years.
I also served as steering committee member in Kidsports. The Soccer team Cosmos coached by me created junior Olympians and several other youths who are attending colleges with soccer scholarships. In cooperation with Looking Glass I also educated several youths at my business in the fine art of fixing and servicing cars. We do our share of Energy conservation and Recycling and keeping Eugene green.
After rebuilding, repairing, changing several Car components and spending hours under, over and everywhere in the cars, my passion for cars has still stayed the same. For recreation I raft the rivers, participate in car shows , ride motorcycles, ski, fly fish, parasail, hike, crab, and fish the bays in my motor boat and go camping.

I took my audi a5 cabriolet there to have the breaks done it is my wife's car and she is very picky. I told them to make sure the job is done right because I didn't want to hear anything from her after. They quoted me a good price and were very knowledgeable. The work was done on her car quickly and I never heard those sqeeky brakes again. Thanks to the guys at this shop my wife's car is better than before.

Matt is very knowledgeable about bmws and has helped me with all of mine even the ones that other shops won't touch due to me doing conversions with the engine so nothing was standard. He always helps install aftermarket parts also which is very nice. Always recommend them to anybody I know but especially Bmw owners. Only thing is they are busy sometimes but that just reflects how good of a job he does with the vehicles. Thanks for all the help over the years and years to come I'm sure!

Beware, dishonest and incompetent people! Our 2013 Jaguar XJL with 23,000 miles was in this shop the first time for an oil change. At the same time, they found a coolant leaking and a new water pump was installed (based on what they said) for approx. $730. Less than 3,000 miles later, the car started showing the "low coolant" warning, we took the car back to this shop and they quoted us $1,179 to replace the water pump again.
After some negotiations, they agreed to do the job for $436. This time they kept the car for almost a month and finally got it fix (that's what they told me, after installing a new pump. liars!). Well, once again, after around 2,000 "low coolant warning" showed up again. After discussing this situation with Mr. Lakatos (manager) he told me that the water pump has warranty but they will have to charge me for labor. unbelievable right?
That is when I decided to go to a different shop. This is where things became worst, not only because we found out that the water pump installed the second time wasn't new (see pictures attached), they've used big amounts of sealant trying to contain the leaking, and also they have broken the water pump mounting to the engine block (see pictures attached), which now is a big issue because I can't replace the engine, of course.
In summary, this shop has committed fraud when they told us that they had installed a new pump, and secondly, based on the damage to my car, I think they have no idea what are they doing. My goal here is to make sure future customers are aware of our experience with this shop, how dishonest they are, and understand the risk of these people touching your car.

I highly recommend Autobahn Imports! I love my 2004 VW Beetle convertible. I waited 10 years before buying the exact one I wanted. When my 'baby' needed repairs, Autobahn came through for me in exemplary fashion! The estimate, repair, cost, and customer service were outstanding. They know their stuff. My repairs even came in a few $$ under their original estimate. I will be taking my baby to them for maintenance in the future.

I needed new brakes, I could tell for several weeks ..they were squealing and weren't stopping as easy. another shop told me I needed to flush my transmission too...etc, etc...took it to Autobahn and they did a full inspection. My transmission was fine, the rest of my car was good. I just needed new brakes and an oil change! that's what I thought...nice people and the work was done quickly with no surprises

I have taken my older BMW here twice now and had a great experience each time. They got me in right away and completed the work the same day. The work has been excellent, and they have been honest about what really needed to be addressed right away and what could wait. During my last visit, they even provided me a ride home while the work was being done, and washed my car when the job was finished. I will definitely go back.

Solid shop, these guys helped my car back on its feet over the weekend. I drove up from Southern California, and my clutch/pressure plate gave out on me as I entered through Oregon. Maybe a sign for Californians to stay out! Haha. Even though my clutch gave out, I was able to drive the car all the way to Eugene and pulled into the Fred Meyer off the Beltline.
My girlfriend was already in town and stayed a few houses down from the shop, so I gave Autobahn Imports a call. They quoted me a solid price, and told me it'd either be fixed the same day (Friday), or will be fixed Monday. Unfortunately, my transmission was having some issues separating, so we'd have to wait til Monday. I felt a bit bad calling and bugging them to get an update, I really wanted to drive around the Portland and Washington area in my car, but they updated me with every call.
I was able to get my car back Monday with no issues other than my speedometer not working. I didn't notice this until I took off for a drive to get some food, and was able to get back before they closed. They checked the plugs on the VSS, and it looked fine. Unfortunately, we couldn't give it a better look. They were closing, and I had to drive home that same day.
The clutch got a good break in on the way home though! However, I did take the VSS out and noticed it was missing the little key inside that spins. So the key may have came out when they took the VSS out, or it somehow disappeared on its own. I went ahead and got a replacement at home, and it's fixed now. Overall, great service and great price. They also gave me the car a courtesy wash. I highly recommend them.

Great service by Keni and the entire Autobahn Imports team on my aging 2004 Audi. They were friendly, knowledgeable and quickly made the needed repair to get me back on the road. Very fair pricing, as well. I highly recommend Autobahn Imports if you're looking to service your import in the Eugene/Springfield area.

I brought my 2008 Mini Cooper S Hardtop to Autobahn to have the following issues addressed: 1- The driver side window would not roll down or up smoothly. It required multiple presses of the switch and upon each press it would roll down or up about an inch. Very annoying. 2- The passenger side window was very difficult to get to the upper-most position.
It would roll up all the way but if you didn't release the switch at exactly the right instant, it would come back down about 1/2 inch. 3- When signaling a right-hand turn, the blinker would not cancel after making the turn. 4- One of the marker lights was burned out. 5- The service indicator was illuminated. $1332.57 later here is the status of these items: 1- Window regulator was replaced but problem persists. Worse yet, whenever I open the door, the window rolls all of the way down and I have to roll it back up by repeatedly pressing the switch as before.
This happens when entering or leaving the car. So, when I get into the car, I have to roll the window back up and when I exit, I have to put the key back in and roll the window back up again. I have to be careful not to roll it too far up or it is too far up and the door won't close. Not fixed but made far worse for $493.12. 2- Passenger side window is working correctly now. 3- Right turn signal still does not cancel. 4- Marker light is still burned out. 5- Service indicator is still on. Now, most of the expense was related to necessary services that were performed, apparently satisfactorily including oil change, plugs and coils replaced, valve cover gasket replaced and air filter replaced.
But my main complaint is that the things that I brought it in for in the first place are (all but one) still a problem or much worse than before. I gave them a chance to correct the issues but the bottom line is that they don't possess the required equipment to perform the work.

Great service and communication. Called for an estimate on Thursday, dropped my car off on Friday and substantial repairs were done by Monday. No surprises on the final bill, it was right on target with the estimate(in fact a little less). Over the years I have used many other auto repair shops in the area, none were terrible but Autobahn was definitely the easiest experience for a substantial repair job. Will definitely return for future service/repairs.

These guys are awesome. I dropped of my VW Beetle Convertible to have the transmission fluid and filter changed. They gave me a quote that was the amount expected and a delivery time. A short while later they called to let me know they encountered problems with some damaged bolts making it difficult to remove the shield covering the transmission. These guys worked over an hour just trying to remove a few bolts and yet honored they quote even though 2 guys worked an extra hour to complete the job. I have been back a couple more times and every time these guy do quality work, at the quoted price. I would highly recommend Autobaun.

Just had my '03 325i brakes at Autobahn for literally half of the cost BMW Eugene wanted for pads and rotors. Excellent staff interaction, although I'd recommend stating a hard time you'd prefer to get the car back. I was really lax when I spoke to them about my expectations of time and had about a day turn around for a 2.6 hour job. Still five stars, cause that's on me! All in all great experience and will do business again!

Given the merchant's extraordinary response here, let me add a little more detail. I think that the first thing is that you should never deal with a merchant who refers to a customer as a bozo. First off, I did miss a couple of appointments. I was in the hospital for a week with a sudden illness, and I almost died. Canceling a car appointment wasn't really the top element on my todo list at the time.
When I was back on my feet, I *asked* them if they could do some work on my car while I went away for a few days and they said fine. They told *me* that fixing things would take about the same amount of time I was traveling, and then I came back to find out that they hadn't actually fixed anything. With regard to the noise that went away, it did indeed go away. What's weird is that they diagnosed it, and said that they knew what was wrong.
Then the noise vanished, they forgot what they had figured out, and now it's impossible to fix. I guess I should just wait until it shows up again. On the sunroof, it fails for me. Maybe it was having a good day. I have no idea. Finally, I'm totally confused about why the shop is *complaining*. They charge by the hour. I pay by the hour. If I send them on a wild goose chase (not that I did; they were just too inept to figure out what was wrong), it's my money.

Our Mini warranty was up so we were looking for a local place to service our car. This was the wrong choice. Took our car in for an oil change. 90 minutes later they presented me with a $90 bill. The bill said "customer requested conventional oil" or something along those lines. I asked about it (cause lets face it, if I wanted regular oil, there's mini-lube, and I'd NEVER requested regular oil.
So another 45 minutes later they were done replacing the oil in the car. But it still doesn't change the fact THEY PUT THE WRONG OIL IN MY CAR and tried to say in writing that I'd requested it. And $90 to change the oil. I was told it was $25 (they just left off that didn't include the cost of oil or filter, really!?) Also, I made the appointment with the owner himself and asked specifically if they would reset the oil warning light in the key.
He assured me they could. But we all know if they had I wouldn't have written this paragraph. He also tried to talk me into a 30,000 mile check up. Over $100 and all they really do is check stuff out, no actual work on the car. They couldn't pay me to let them work on my car again, after all, I like my car.

I wish there was an option for 10 stars! These guys went so far above and beyond I hardly know where to start. My truck broke down while towing a trailer near their shop. After pushing me safely into their yard, they hooked up the computer and found several issues. My old '97 Dodge Ram 1500 kept throwing tricks at them, though and even after making the repairs necessary to address the errors from the computer, it continued to have issues.
They worked WITH ME and we researched together and talked to other shops and even checked out forums. TOGETHER we figured out the remaining culprit and got it repaired. Oh, and the trailer I had, was a Uhaul rental... they even returned that for me to make sure they saved me money and kept my contract with Uhaul. After one heck of a tricky issue and giving my truck all the attention it needed, making feel like I was their only priority, and communicating with me all along the way before doing any repair, I feared my price was going to be sky high. But, these guys are not like that, they showed respect and business savvy and gave me an exceptionally fair deal.
I know they specialize in German vehicles, but I would recommend these guys to anyone. You get treated like a real human being, they take great care of you and your vehicle, and they give you the best rates possible! You simply cannot expect anything more from an auto repair shop! I'm telling everyone I can about these guys! I hope you will give them your business, you will not regret it!

Rob and the techs at Autobahn Imports are a breath of fresh air as well as honest, very skilled and extremely informative. I highly recommend them to anyone who loves and needs their vehicle. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Sree, Tom, and Ken went way above and beyond great customer service. They essentially put me back in a "new" car when I had them work on my 2000 Subaru Outback Limited (with all its bells and whistles) that had blown a head gasket (and more). I am so happy to be driving this car again instead of purchasing a couple of year old model at five times the price. Repair and reuse I say! Thanks to the Autobahn team!
