Alternative Autoworx, LLC was started in 1998 after I had finished with a short stint at my second Subaru dealership. Starting in 1976, I worked at some really good garages and a couple of completely dishonest garages, both independent and factory dealerships. In 1998 I decided it was time to use the knowledge I had gained to start a fair priced and humbly honest garage of my own. The goal was to provide my customers with an honest alternative to the higher priced and not always trustworthy garages and dealerships.

Head Gaskets

Head gaskets are probably one of the most talked about issues with Subarus at this time. If you want to burn up hours, just Google "Subaru Head Gaskets" & be prepared to get barraged by blogs, web sites, & a bunch of stuff (some good & some not so good). Bottom line is; Subaru head gasket repair is not cheap if done right, but could cost you an engine if left ignored.

This is a picture of the most common Subaru engine, the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder. This engine can be found in all 2000-2010 Subaru Outbacks, Legacys, Impreszas, and Foresters, and later on some models. If your car is a turbo or an H6 a lot of these principals will be the same but the costs are higher. This is a picture of a Subaru upper idler pulley on the passenger side of the engine.
