Check Engine Light On

Use of the check engine light (technology) or CEL, began with the introduction of the On-Board Diagnostics system (OBD) in 1987. In 1994 the more advanced OBD II was introduced. This system is a government mandated vehicle component that automatically checks and tests various vehicle emission control items.
No-Cranking/No-Starting Issues

Diagnosing a no-crank (your car's engine is not turning over), or solving no-start or intermittent starting issues doesn't mean the first thing Modderman Service technicians try won't resolve the problem.
Rebuilding Transmissions

Since day 1, Modderman Service has been rebuilding manual transmissions for all Porsche models. What's more is they're one of only a few shops in Northern California who rebuild transmissions for late-model Boxters and 966s - other than Modderman Service, no other shop has invested in the necessary tools and equipment which are needed for these late-model transmission rebuilds.
Air Conditioning Service

Porsche recommends that you have your auto's air conditioning system serviced - preventive maintenance - every two years which can prevent costly repairs. Regular service keeps contaminants from circulating throughout a Porsche's air conditioning system, a leading cause of system failure. Service consists of: evacuation of any moisture, recharging the system while adding the proper amount of freon/R134, and a visual inspection of the entire air conditioning system.Many drivers don't keep up with their vehicle's regular scheduled maintenance, including A/C service.

Class act all the way! These guys know Porsche and everything to help keep your Porsche running as intended. These guys keep busy, so schedule weeks in advance. Dave, his team and his shop provide the highest level of service. Dave took me under my car, which I brought in for an initial inspection and minor service, to show and explain areas of the car that need attention and things to observe.
His shop and workspace is quite organized and clean for the amount of work they are doing. The shop is on the level of "camera ready". Pulling into Modderman Service instantly let me know I was at the right place. This shop provides excellent quality service with matching knowledge & experience, so be prepared to pay for that quality. Shouldn't be a problem if your familiar with Porsche.

Work is always, always done right, and right the first time. Dave has also pointed out things that needed attention, that I wasn't aware of. On my last visit, Dave repaired the headliner inside my Cayman, which hung down loose from the car's roof. After the repair, the headline was perfect. I never have the feeling that I'm being ripped off, as I was when I had to take the car to the dealer for warranty period service. I hardly ever post online reviews, so you know that Modderman is a great service business

I brought my 944 into this shop hearing it was the best Porsche shop in the Bay Area. My car sat in their shop for 9 months. Not only was the communication very poor (I always had to reach out and call) they actually broke my windshield (refused to admit it was them) and could never figure out what was wrong with the car. The car was able to start and run before bringing it in but after they began to make repairs the car failed to start on its own. They never fixed their mistake and charged my thousands for the service. Worst experience and terrible to deal with. I do not recommend.
