This company will rip you off so BEWARE. My car broke down on Sunset in West LA due to a bad alternator. Being desperate and panicked, I called AAA and they recommended Westside Transmission & Automotive on Cotner in Los Angeles. After I had my car towed to Westside Transmission & Automotive, Steve ran a diagnostic for a $195 fee (rip off) and agreed with my assessment. However, he quoted me $1433.80 to fix the alternator.

This shop tried to take advantage of my desperate situation. After calling around to other shops, I got a quote for LESS THAN HALF of what Steve quoted for labor and part. I bought a new alternator at $200 and had it replaced elsewhere. For other would-be other victims, Westside Transmission & Automotive will rip you off. Call around and check with other garages.

After Taking My 2010 Lexus 450H To Santa Monica Lexus I Was Not Satiated With Their List Of Things That Need Attention. Aside From Te Service Department Not Responding To My Calls I Called The Service Manager And He Said He Would Take Action, The Service Person Had 3 Calls Before She Responded. I Asked For An Explanation And What I Was Told By The Service Adviser Was Not True.

After Having Westside Transmission Recommended To Me By A Professional Mechanic I Took It In For Conformation And An Estimate. Steve Put It Up On The Rack And We Looked At The Items They Said Needed Action. One Was Completely False And Another Was Questionable. Lexus Said The Rear Shocks Needed To Be Replaced Because They Were Leaking. They Were Not, But Did See Some Grease On The Bottom Part. Shocks Use Oil Not Grease. Wondering Why? I Was. WESTSIDE DID A FANTASTIC JOB! THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL.

Steve was extremely helpful and got my truck in to be serviced very quickly. He was able to diagnose and fix a noise that had been bothering me for some time. Their standard service also fixed the chassis squeak that had been driving me nuts!

Critical: Value Lol, they may have great reviews but they will want to charge you $390 just to look at your car. I went somewhere else, simply because I thought the diagnosis fee was obscene!

These guys were so incredibly helpful - they were honest, quick, and helped to educate. I definitely recommend them if you purchased through Carvana like I did because they were really savvy with helping to get things done that were covered in the warranty, which I really appreciate. I already have an appointment to go back and will definitely be going here for all my maintenance in the future.

In my decades of car ownership, I've never had a mechanic follow up on a repair. I'm happy to say that Westside proved the quality of their work and warranty by calling about a week after I collected my car. Needless to say, the problems were all fixed!

The name is apt: this should be your go-to auto repair shop if you live on the Westside. I had my car towed from my house to the garage while I wasn't home and I received updates when the car was received at the shop as well as upon completion of the repairs. They were able to diagnose the problem quickly and have me back on the road in a day. The staff is extremely helpful and was always available to take my call. I cannot recommend Westside enough, especially as a AAA member.

I am very impressed with the professionalism of the staff at West side, with special emphasis on Laura and Steve. Couldn't be happier. They made a mind boggling catastrophe easy to handle and they always had the right answers. A real credit to their industry.

My car is a 2010 Expedition that is our life savor. To and from work, pick ups, drop offs, school, and our big baby. When we find out our car needed major work, I freaked out! I googled automotive repair place that would be close to work and Westside Transmission came up. Westside was so knowledgable and professional, the repairs were completed in a timely manner as promised, and they had an open communication with me throughout the repairs. Highly recommended, especially coming from someone whose family is totally depended on their car.

I had this company rebuild my transmission and torque converter in July 0f 2014 on my 1993 G-30 Chevrolet van. It cost me over $2,900 and was given a 24 month or 24K warranty (which ever came first) for the work. I live out of state and travel frequently out of state in the van and had only used it sparingly while storing it for several months of the year in a covered storage facility.

I had only 10,400 miles on the van when the van's transmission failed again. I was asked by Westside Transmission to have the van towed to them to verify that the transmission was faulty. Unfortunately I was unable to have it towed 150 miles back to them from outside the Bakersfield, CA area since the cost of this would have been excessive. I had it towed to Tehachapi Transmission shop in Tehachapi, CA for an estimate where they discovered the work Westside Transmission's rebuild was poorly done and in fact two bolts within the transmission were not torqued down and came loose causing extensive internal damage due to blocking the flow of transmission fluid and overheating to the transmission.

I offered Westside Transmission photos and to discuss the matter with the other Tehachapi Transmission mechanic who assessed the damage but they declined. Westside Transmission offered to rebuild my van's transmission again for $2,700 by discounting it $200 for me. I opted not to since it was their negligence that caused it to break down again with so little miles since they rebuilt it.

I asked them to reconsider a larger discount since it had only 10,400 miles since they rebuilt it but they declined citing the warranty had expired. I would recommend anyone needing rebuilt transmission work to use another company or a nationwide service vendor since Westside Transmission will not honor their faulty work even though I told them originally I was moving the work van across the country to Florida and if I experienced a problem I would be able to get it repaired during the warranty in another state.

They told me, yes they would honor their work outside the area by a certified transmission mechanic. Obviously they were not willing to do this by insisting to have it towed to them and not giving more than a $200 discount for their work that should have been done right the first time.
