I brought my car in for a full synthetic oil change. They didn't change the oil, they only added to it. That explains why it wasn't running like it usually does. I didn't realize the problem until I was due for my next oil change and my friend did it. There was almost 6 quarts of oil that was drained and many pieces of metal in the oil and other debris. Then, they told me that I need new brakes and it's a safety concern. There's nothing wrong with my brakes.

I paid a lot of money to have them change my oil, only to find out that they didn't change it. I definitely won't go back to Village Auto Works and I'll make sure to tell others to not waste their money or time taking their vehicle there.

I couldn't afford to get my car fixed, it sat there for 3 weeks and they didn't charge me or complain, unfortunately had to junk my car.

I took my daughters Honda CRV in to have the stolen catalytic converter replaced. It was covered by insurance. I have had to bring the car back three times to get a hissing noise addressed. The first time it was a gasket that was not properly replaced. When I brought it back the second time and left for the day they advised me that it was a gasket issue again and would be covered.

Even though they had the car for most of the day they told me they could not get the part and I should bring it back on a Monday. When I asked why this is taking so long to fix, I was told it is really the exhaust manifold gasket and they are trying to do me a favor as that would be $1,600 to fix. I left confused as the story keeps changing. I returned on Monday to drop the car off.

When I picked the car up they told me the problem was mostly fixed but there is a slight leak from the muffler and that would be $840 to fix. Picked up the car and drove it and still the same noise. The oil change I requested was not completed either. I have no confidence that this shop knows what they are doing And is honest and ethical. In addition, my daughter felt very uncomfortable when she went to pick up her car originally based on how they treated her.

Ask a lot of questions and be cautious. I came in because my check engine light was flashing due to my engine misfiring. I was sort of concerned when I was signing papers before I even got it inspected. I payed for oil change, inspection and diagnoses, and eventually the repairs which were to replace the spark plugs and ignition coils. They got the work done in a few hours, but they charged me around $1500 which seemed a little high for the little amount of time it took, but I wasn't going to complain as long as everything was fixed.

About a week later the car was shaking again and the check engine light returned. I took it to different place to have it looked at and the issue was one of the coils that got installed had a poor connection and had become disengaged. The mechanic told me that such a thing should not have been an issue if it was just installed and that he noticed they had put in aftermarket coils when they could have installed better, more trustworthy manufacturer's parts for acorns more.

This was a big surprise to me because one of the Village Auto's big marketing schemes is that they only used the HIGHEST QUALITY parts and guarantee them for 5 years. I then asked about the price of the coils and plugs replacement and the mechanic told me he thought it sounded a little high. TLDR: Sold me on the quality parts and installed aftermarket parts.

They did a poor job inspecting and double checking the work they did so, I had to have another repair done to do what they should have in the first place. They most likely overcharged for every service they performed. I won't be returning to Villiage Auto even though it is right down the street from me. At least I found a new much more trustworthy shop with quality sevice and much more reasonable prices.

These guys were fast and efficient. Someone at a separate business had broken the handle off of my oil dipstick so that the rest of it was stuck in the tube. When I brought it here, they couldn't get it out at first so I was told we'd have to replace the whole tube; however, I'm told that one of the mechanics went out of his way to get some materials on his own time after work and get the stick out. Because of this, they were able to simply replace the dipstick rather than the whole tube and whatever else would've been affected which saved me quite a bit of money.

I went here for a oil change and was told my engine head gasket was blown. I asked technician to show me and he said he couldn't because it was internal. He also told me it wouldn't last another week. Also said it would cost 14,000 to fix. Charged me 180 dollars for diagnostic and didn't do the oil change. Be careful when dealing with this shop.

Brought my boyfriend's Outback in for an oil change this week after seeing the good reviews and they absolutely live up to those expectations! The staff was amazing and helpful, the services were well done and surprisingly in-depth for the affordable cost. Bonus of complimentary coffee and water? They've got a couple of new loyal customers out of us that's for sure!

I came here to get my whole car painted a new color. Everyone who works here was so friendly and helpful. I didn't know exactly what shade I wanted and they helped me narrow it down. Showed me a sample I loved, and was able to bring my car right in. The work was done quickly and it turned out better than I imagined. I'm so happy with the results, would definitely recommend them to anyone. Price was very affordable as well.

A very frustrating experience with Village Auto. I received a call from Andy outlining all the services I needed on my 2014 Cruze after my brother topped off the radiator with coolant drove it in after the warning light said "Coolant Low" and "Engine Hot.) Andy suggested $2800 worth of services. He very politely and in detail explained all of the suggested services to me over the phone ( I am now in NC.) These are the items he outlined; Multipoint Safety Inspection, Replace Thermostat, Cooling System Service, Oil leak inspection/repair, Install Front Brake Pads, Rotors, Front Brake Caliper Service, Oil Change, Engine Oil Flush.

I said thank you and that I would review it with my brother and my spouse. I agree with the reviewer who said Village Auto takes advantage of inexperienced and trusting car owners. Unfortunately my inexperienced and very trusting brother has taken his 2001 Ranger there for years. I wonder how many times he paid for services he did not need. Here's end of story: I took Cruze via tow to Budget Auto in New Brighton for a second opinion. Andy suggested towing. Tow was $155 ( I bet Andy gets a cut.) Diagnosis by Budget: Coolant leak at waterpipe outlet. Brakes 80-90% (looked relatively new), oil change not necessary, little sweat marks of oil (no big deal.) Cost for Coolant Part and Labor $440. BTW Andy called my sister and yelled at her to "get the car out of my lot immediately." Andy has a huge parking area in the back.

I am sure having it sit there for another day was not going to inconvenience him. Do NOT patronize Village Auto. I hope I can save someone a $1000 or more on unnecessary repairs/service.

Takes advantage of inexperienced customers, WAY overpriced, recommends MANY services you don't need. One of my kids took his car here for an oil change. They tried to sell him on $2000 of repairs on a car he bought for $3500. I took it to my mechanic. Total bill was $215 dollars. Of the 9 services Village recommended, they recommended 4. If I had done those four services at Village it would have been almost $600. Again, the total at my mechanic was $215. One last thing.they were SUPER friendly to my son UNTIL he said he was going to call and check in with me. Then they got snippy and impatient.

This is my go to when it comes with my car services. They will not making things up to make money (like tell you that your car needs this and that and those even if it's not) they will definitely help you with what you need in your car to make you safe on the road. Jeff and his staff are amazing! Cheap price ever! I swear. Great service! Reasonable price! Staff are nice!

Brought in my car for an oil change/tire rotation. They were able to accommodate me in their schedule for the very next day. Was communicated everything upfront as far as the timing/price goes and they also did a free inspection, top off the fluids etc and I was back on my way within no time. Definitely recommend them! Services: Tires, Oil change

The shop is clean and well kept and they generally seem professional. In order to talk with someone and show them my classic 60s car I had to wait a week and then they said they couldn't work on it but were OK with working on a classic Corvette and wouldn't say why. They referred me to another shop that was mediocre. I've know about this place for years but my cars have always been under warranty or German imports so I doubt I'll be back.

I had an appointment at 10:00 am and I waited in the waiting room while they took it in. 1 hour passed and it was still on the rack, I asked why it was taking so long, the manager said it takes an hour. 20 minutes later it was still on the rack, I told them to take it down and I was leaving, they said we are waiting on an oil filter. they could have told me they did not have an oil filter and it would be a while instead of keeping it a secret. No apology or good customer service it will be my first time there and the last!

Andy at the front was so welcoming & cool. He and his colleague was so willing to help when they knew I came in only for some air for my bike as a I was stranded 30 mins from home. Talk about generosity and going out of your way for others. He made me feel like I wasn't a burden and also offered water multiple times. I will definitely be returning with my car next time, seeing that the customer service here is A++++!;

Pros; super friendly, nice, they have overnight key drop off box so convenient though you can't make it during work hours. 5 years warranty (except labor fees) Cons; expensive labor fees (might be from 5 yeas warranty), I paid $1,350 for 1) car inspection around $150, 2) replacement of water pump and timing belt around$1,000 3) minor cooling system service. $120) definitely not for college kids who are broke af like me.

I've only been here once, but I brought my car in for an oil change and basic maintenance, and chose Village Auto Works based on location and online reviews. I was treated with the utmost respect and everything that was being done to my car was thoroughly explained. I was expecting to be told I needed much more done to my vehicle, but that didn't happen. I was very happy with my visit overall.

First experience was great. Last minute stop on my way to work because of a check engine light. Just so happens I also needed a 100K tune up. Called me to explain what additionally I needed done. Explained how and why the additional issue can happen and what they recommended. The turn around time was quick, customer service was excellent - I will seek Village Auto Works again and I highly recommend them. Thank you!

Two days later, I took my car straight to Toyota as I couldn't believe my steering wheel shaking had anything to do with my rear brakes going bad. Toyota dealership told me my rear brakes are worn but the front brake rotors and pads will need changing as that's what's causing the shaking. They charged me $1200 and I gladly paid for it.

Village auto told me my shaking issue was my rear brakes and they freakin charged me $1700 for just the rear! What a ripoff. I didn't even get the service and the had the balls to tell me it's best to do it as they already have the wheels off. God dam am I pissed off just writing about this!

I've had nothing but great experiences here. They've serviced two of my cars, an 04 Saturn ion and an 09 Buick Lucerne. I am always super nervous finding a new auto shop because you never know who's going to be trustworthy or not but this place is super down to earth. They've never made me feel dumb about any questions I've had about my car or repairs on my car. They also have a really great rewards system that you can get points for coming there aka basically service dollars in the future. I won't go anywhere else.

I own a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze that was having trouble cold starting. I took my car to a Chevrolet dealership first thinking it may be a recall issue. They charged me $300 dollars to change the battery which didn't fix the problem. When I took it back, they told me it would be another $300 to change the ambient air temp sensor. I didn't trust them again since they already charged me for an unnecessary service, SO I TOOK MY CAR TO VILLAGE AUTOWORKS.

I told them about all of the issues I had at Chevrolet and what their diagnosis was. They told me what the price range would be for the diagnosis and explained what would be required for a lower vs higher charge for the diagnosis. They also asked to hold the car overnight, so that they could see/experience the cold start problem for proper diagnosis.

They gave me a free loaner car and were super friendly. They called me promptly the next morning to say it was a good thing I brought it to them because my ambient air temp sensor is fine, but my engine coolant sensor is off. They explained how this effects the car and why it isn't starting properly and told me exactly how much it would cost to fix. They fixed my car by the end of the day and were extremely helpful and professional. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a high quality service experience!

They do great work, I've had many pleasant experiences in the past. But recently they hired this guy named Tony who is a complete idiot. Total schmuck and will try to upsell you with anything.

If you go here, ask that the older gentlemen mechanic not work on your car. He mis-diagnosed a front end suspension problem I was having and recommended I get upper ball joints replaced. I took off the wheels and found the real problem myself which was the lower ball joint. It was spewing grease out and was pretty obvious. It was like he didn't even look while performing the $82.00 diagnostic test. Very disappointed to find this after taking the upper control arm and strut off myself. They refunded the charge however. Never going here again.

I've worked in the car business for years and the service these guys offer is top notch. My wife and I go there every oil change. I wouldn't pay much attention to the one star reviews on this site, they clearly don't realize fixing cars actually costs something and you can't expect a business to do work for nothing. As someone who has worked in dealerships, nothing beats the Ma and pop feel and price fairness of this place. What more could I say they are great, go there already!

We've been coming here for both our car and rv, and we absolutely cannot recommend them enough! They're always more than fair with the pricing for the work they do, and Jeff is amazing at communicating and helping you work things out. Our RV is a 1986, so she's an old pain in the ass, and they've always gone above and beyond to figure out what her problem is, and fix it! Thanks guys!
