After taking my Montero sometime in October 2020 for just Solenoid gear issue and 650$ in charges for a replacement. I end up with a leak on my transmission. went back to fix it which I had no problem to bring it back but turned out to be a bad solenoid so waited another week for a replacement and even now December 2020 still leaks. Note: he fixed the gear issue which he didn't know it was working but I didn't have a leak problem all this time I had my montero.

I feel sorry for the guy with so many things to do on his plate. but he can't keep up what his employees are doing right or wrong Unfortunately I moved out of the state and I can't no longer bring the car for the 3 time to fix the issue. Who would! I wouldn't recommend it /: this is all on my personal experience. Attention to detail it's important to me.

Update 11/2020: Took my car to Tom's again for a few concerns, and another great experience! My car is no longer under warranty, so I have to pay for everything out of pocket, including rental cars, so Brian was flexible and I was able to take my car while we waited for parts to come in, to reduce how much I was spending on a rental cars and a rideshare.

Really appreciate Brian being flexible and understanding about my situation. I went to Tom's after having a horrible experience elsewhere. From my first conversation with Brian, the owner, over the phone, I knew that he was friendly and trustworthy. They were able to diagnose my car sooner than I expected, and provided much relief after I assumed I'd need a whole new transmission. Turns out it was just one part that was very inexpensive and they were able to repair it quickly and get my car back to me within a few days.

I read some reviews prior to going there, and Brian lives up to all of them. This will be my go-to place for all future needs. They have earned my business for life by being honest, trustworthy, and following through on their word.

I called about a clutch job Real simple remove and replace, a few hours max. The guy Brian that answered the phone showed no interest in helping me from the very beginning of the call. Apparently my my business and money wasn't good enough for their shop. and it got worse after I mentioned I wanted to supply some parts for the job. The customer service was awful even if they were a big franchise shop.

For a customer to get that treatment from a family owned business is appalling. I can understand if you don't want to use my supplied parts but. you don't have to be a self-righteous jerk about it. Thank a lot for showing me why most the people I know have started going to the San Fernando Valley for car service.

I've been a customer of Tom's Transmission for many years (in fact even back when Tom's son, Brian simply worked there with his dad at the shop and who now owns the and runs the business) and you could not ask for a more friendly or a more caring family of great mechanics and technicians. They've been a real leader in maintaining small business integrity and honesty in Santa Clarita for more than 30 years and to do that, you have to establish a loyal customer base, which Tom's Transmission and Auto Service certainly has had over the years.

Trust & honesty is always present at Tom's Transmission and that's always appreciated by Tom's loyal customers. I've recommended Tom's Transmission to many of my neighbors and family members and they've never been disappointed by the excellent work that has managed to come out of that small, friendly and very capable business built with pride and integrity. Sincerely, Rich LaGrasta, Valencia, California.

One of my cars broke down in the canyons and I called around a few shops. All I heard was we can't do this or can't do that we use our own supplies bunch of bs just to make a buck. I called Toms and Brian answered I described my situation and he said no problem gave me a quote over the phone. Upon arrival Brian was very polite and helpful. it was the same quote as he stated on the phone no extra or hidden charges applied. Shops like these are hard to find in today's time. Very honest, reliable, fast friendly service. don't go around paying big bucks to people who can't even get the job done.

I have 2 Chevy trucks and have been going to Toms Transmission for years now and decided its about time I wrote a review for them. If your looking for a good mechanic that provides fast service at a reasonable price this is the place to go. Brian and his team have provided repairs and maintenance on both my trucks over the years and have not once let me down.

They stand by their work and don't give you the run around or try to sell you on services you don't need or want. They will continue to have my business and I would hope you would give them a chance to earn yours also! Thanks As Always J. Roper

I took my 97 Ford truck to Brian because of a busted blinker. He said it was either a lose wire or the switch. The wire was ~$40 and the switch ~$200+. And he'd let me know. I drove out of there thinking, "If he is a typical mechanic, it will be the wire but he'll say it was the switch and pocket the difference." He called about an hour later saying it was ready.

I was flabbergasted when I saw the bill for ~$40. Just a wire he said. When dealing with a mechanic honesty is key. I have no idea how or what is wrong with my vehicles and a mechanics know that. And they seemingly all cheat their customers because they can. I worked in the service department at a dealership cleaning up the bays and washing cars and saw it every day.

The service writers used to laugh about it. Too bad I was too young and scared to expose them. No excuses but still. Another time I took my 2011 Sienna over there. We moved to Simi Valley and I reasoned they could handle that. But we noticed it was leaking oil. It turned out the other guy did not tighten up the filter. Could have blown the engine.

So I added a few quarts of oil and drove it straight over to Brian hoping those other guys didn't break something and it was caught before the engine was ruined. Again, most mechanics would tell me it had serious problems, maybe even piston and cylinder damage, charge me a few thousand dollars and then clean the oil off, steam clean the engine to make it look new and keep the money. Brian called saying they did not tighten the filter and it was ready for pick up!

Who does that? Who walks away from making thousands of dollars? Brian. He is an honest and extremely knowledgeable mechanic. From a 97 Ford Diesel to a 2011 Toyota Sienna he can fix anything that is wrong and he does not cheat. He is a gift from God.
