They weren't sure they could help me but they told me about a guy in Modesto who can. So I'm grateful to them for giving me some time and I'll definitely be giving them business when my needs are something they can meet. Thanks guys!

I don't know how the work is done here. quality or not? no idea. I want them to fix my rims but no one calls me back. I have already called this place 4 times. I guess I will have to just drive over there.

Sad that a place that has been around for over a 100 years and many owners does not stand behind their work. I had a set of custom wheels made. The wheels started to crack after about 5 years of use. We ran down the cracks and welded them and lived with it. The cracks were micro and you could not see them except when you put the wheel and tire in a water bath.

Last year one of the wheels failed in a nearly spectacular fashion. Massive structural cracking all coming off of the welds. An analysis my a certified master welded concluded that the failure was due to to primary things. The first was that when the used a lathe to cut the centers out of whatever they used, they failed to grind and dress the rough edges.

The second is that they used improper welding techniques as to directional of the welds with respect to the metal grain and where they started and stopped the welds. I have tried to contact them by email and in writing and never received a reply. I did NOT ask for a refund nor did I ask for anything other than having them work with me to build a new set of wheels that would address the issues we have found.

They could not be bothered. I have had Stockton Wheel building custom steel wheels for me since 1975 and other in my family back into the 1950's. The current custodians of this once great business are not doing it or its customers any justice. I would not use them both as a business matter and as a safety matter.

I hit a pothole pretty hard coming off the on ramp on the 5 and bent my wheel pretty bad. It felt like one of my wheels turned into an egg shape. The car wobbled its way to Stockton Wheel Service, luckily. They fixed my wheel so good that at first glance I thought it was a brand new wheel that they replaced. My car rides smooth without any alignment issues. Pricing was acceptable for the work that needed to be done. Great experience with this business.

Brought my rim and they fixed it.they did a good job. Worth the money they charge.it would be better if they took the tire off there and put back on and balanced it too

This is very old news, but after reading current reviews it appears NOTHING has changed in 18 years. I ordered 4 wheels for a 1949 Chevy truck that would accommodate original hub caps and a Chevy 5 bolt pattern. After an INCREDIBLE delay I got my wheels. Long story short, three where correct and one was not compatible with the hub caps. They also didn't come with ANY valve stem holes drilled.

After the first bump the expensive hub cap fell off of the incorrect wheel. I later found the hub cap on the interstate. When I called to complain they shut me down by saying that the wheels were tested before leaving the shop. The hub cap stayed on the wrong wheel center until you touched it with ANY pressure, then it would pop off easily. They basically told me to pound sand and hung up. I WOULD NEVER NEVER buy from such a terrible company again! I am actually SHOCKED that they are still in business!

Got a pretty beat up wheel and was sceptical about this place due to a bad past review, but also some current good reveiw as will. I needed my wheel repair asap so I can take my trip to the bay area on the same day due to emergency. so I took the chance and took it in to stockton wheel for a repair, and guess what? I made the right choice because it look like new and alot better then i exspected due to how bad it was before. No more shaking and bumping ride. Thanks stockton wheel.

Good and fast service! Fixed my wheel and saved me a lot of dollars. Gave me a tour of shop and showed me what they can do. They build custom hot rod wheels and recondition classic wheels.

I heard about this place and decided to try them. I had some issues with one of my rims so I decided to bring my rim and see if they could fix it. They not only fixed my rim but also did everything they could to fix it in one day since I told them my car was left at a shop that would only hold my car for the day. I didn't have any issues with customer service and have nothing but positive things to say about this place.

Fixed a cracked wheel other places wouldn't touch b/c of liability. THey have you sign somehting saying to returns or complaints, blah blah, but my wheel works great months (a year?) later. Worth the money to get it running again.

Recently, I shipped a bare wheel to Stockton for a backspacing modification. After I finally was able to confirm they received the wheel, I was giving a different price than what was quoted over the telephone. After agreeing to pay the extra money, the wheel has not been repaired as promised. The guy on the phone is claiming the other employee is not coming into work, he keeps calling in. If you want service and are on any type of a deadline you should not send your wheels here. Should have seen review Gene G. first.

Exemplary --- ultra knowledgeable, fair, impeccable customer service (thank you Don). Couldn't be happier. Finding these folks to help me with my wheels was a blessing. Like Terrence Ivy says below, Great Service.

Don't bother contacting them by e-mail. Whoever answers or more probably DOES'T answer them is ignorant and unresponsive.

The long-time owner of Stockton Wheel, Frank Mauro, passed away in March 2011. I do not know who is currently running the business, but the last time I checked some of the old employees were still there. By the reviews, however, things may have deteriorated a bit. Maybe with some time the new guy will get the hang of it.

These new owners have pretty bad customer relations. After I had them repair for the second time the same wheel, the same problem, they acted like I was the biggest pain in their world. The snide remarks and body language made me feel like I had done something wrong.

This guy behind the counter treated me like he'd rather be doing 107 other things than help me. His tone was rude, and in the middle of helping me (while I was still standing in front of him!), he asked the guy behind me how he could help him. The other guy just stepped right up and took my place, like I didn't exist. I will not give them my business again.

These guys have been around since 1883. I'm pretty sure they know something about wheels. I've had them fix wheels damaged in shipping and build custom widened steel wheels; always professional, always great stuff. I've also called to order parts (studs, nuts, etc.) and always had my stuff within two days with reasonable shipping charges.
