Took my Dodge Dakota in for transmission leaking seal. they promptly fixed it and serviced transmission for great price. Two weeks later we noticed it was leaking called Brandon, he told us to bring it in and he would look at it, He found that the seal and gasket were cracked and replaced them again when we picked up the truck there was no charge as Brandon said I stand behind my warranties so there's No Charge for fixing it. Great shop, Great people, great price. Would absolutely recommend Santa Rosa Hydramatic to anyone.

My 16 year old daughter, after saving up some cash, bought a used 2007 Lexus for her first car. She drove it for only two months and the transmission went out. (Bummer) I brought it into Hyrdramatic for an inspection and sure enough the tranny was toast. I got a quote for the new one with labor and it was too high for her or for me to get this car fixed.

I told Steve the situation that its my daughters first car, this is a real drag that we couldn't afford the new transmission and if he had any suggestions for us. Steve got creative and pointed me in the right direction to buy a used transmission and his team would install it only charging labor. This kind act saved us money and got a good car back on the road. I appreciate them working with me. Thanks

Reversed from my driveway, & put in drive, nothing happened. looked up to see 5 quarts trans/fluid on the ground.called extreme towing that hydra-magic suggested. expected the worst. I was planning on leaving the vehicle, but steve suggested I wait while they check it out, it might be " something minor". I hadn't"t made an appointment. soon I was told i'll be able to drive it home shortly. a hose had come loose. the work was many hundreds less than I anticipated.the moment I met steve I knew he was a good soul. pls excuse the long story, but this shop is outstanding. j. a.

Brendon's kind and fair attitude wins every time. His Dad is very knowledgeable also. Although ultimately I didn't complete my Camry transmission yet ( Toyota are dependable, oh ok!), if I must! I will probably go back but the 6-9 thousand dollars to rebuild transmission these days is, " what a long strange trip it's been, and if your still truckin on down the avenue, lots of cash is king!"

Had my truck transmission service done here. Reasonably priced, and was finished on time. Only down side is there's hardly any parking and very busy streets. Didn't like that my truck was parked half on the busy street and half on the sidewalk when the service was complete with the windows down.

This is a review on Santa Rosa Hydramatic 65 years in business located at 104 college. Santa Rosa Ca. I went there and told Brendon my truck would not go into 4th left it there I go in and he looks me straight in the eye and tells me I have no 4th gear it keeps popping out and they looked in transmission box and there copper in transmission fluid I ask give me a round about figure to fix it.

He says $2500.00 maybe he has one on the shelf can give me a deal. He lies with out batting an eye. Well guess what theres NO PROBLEM with 4th gear can shift into 4th easily. HOPE YOU PEOPLE READ THIS AND DONT TAKE UT FOR GRANTED THE PERSON YOUR TALKING WITH IS HONEST! THIS GUY WASNT!

Thank you for the amazing service! I live in Oregon, while my Niece and her husband were borrowing my truck for a camping trip the transmission failed. They were in another state very far from home. One of the scenarios everyone dreads, my car is out of state broken and needs major repairs. Not to worry if you are in the Santa Rosa area! Santa Rosa Hydramatic to the rescue! Great communication and great service. They went out of their way to get the truck fixed and back on the road. Saving me from a 700 mile tow bill to get the truck home.

I have 2001 Rav 4 that has 130,000 miles on it, in great shape, and clean. I have always taken it to Toyota for all of its service. One day the gears started grinding, and I took it to Toyota. They said it needed a new computer for $2000 and a new transmission for $6000. The blue book is about $3000. I wasn't ready to buy a new car. The car sat in my driveway for a month as I was calling around for someone to look at it.

A transmission place told me to call Santa Rosa Hydramatic. The owner listened then asked what year my Rav 4 was and said he had seen this many times and most likely the computer. I asked how much he would charge and he said about $475. I had an appointment within a couple of days and my car was done a day later. I was ecstatic! It has run great for a month now with no problems. I can't believe I almost donated my car. I can't say thank you enough to the owner. I am able to keep driving my Rav 4 while I save money just in case.

The BEST decision I made in getting my transmission replaced! Owners, Steve Jr. & Brenden were exceptional in helping navigate the long process in getting my replacement transmission to their shop. None of it was their doing. Their patience and guidance was priceless and very much appreciated. Once received they were very fast and efficient. My car runs better with this replacement transmission than it did when it was new.

They and their team take pride in their work and it shows. There is a reason why they are still in business 70 years later. They set the standard for customer service. 800 miles into a 2,500 mile costal road trip in our 56 year old car, we developed transmission trouble. These guys made time and space to spend hours diagnosing the problem and fabricating a repair. Fabricating a repair for an antique car on the spot and sending us onward on our journey. They took the time from their overbooked day and saved our trip! If I could leave 10 stars, I would!

I give Santa Rosa hydramatic five stars because their customer service is excellent, Steve is very helpful and very informative on decision-making to make my classic vehicle (1959 Ford Thunderbird) run the best that it could, they have done plenty of work to it and every time I'm impressed because the prices are great and the quality of work is excellent. My classic car runs great!. Steve, Steve Jr. And Brandon are my go to guys for my automotive classic car work! You have a customer for life.

Exceptional services by the crew at Santa Rosa Hydramatic! In late November 2019 my 2004 VW Jetta was showing signs of slipping and difficulty shifting at higher gears. After explaining my car's previous history of the battery chronically discharging and bringing in my car, they told me to replace a relay (after looking up a code on their computer) and the battery itself before anything else.

Just for their time and consult, they did this free of charge! I really appreciated that they did not dive right into transmission work but gave me a chance to solve other possible and cheaper problems first. Sadly, although my car did need those two replacements, it was still having problems shifting. I didn't have the finances for a brand new transmission from the dealer (also that would have been easily 3 times worth the value of the car), so they were honest about my options: use my car for my short drives to work until the transmission gave up, or take a gamble on a used transmission from a parts shop in SF that they could install.

I decided on the latter and although it took quite a few tries to find not only the correct but a dependable transmission (I think we went through 4 total before finding the best one) SRH was nothing but patient and helpful throughout this entire drawn out process. It took almost 3 months to find the right one (that itself is the gamble of getting a used transmission) and Steve Sr. was always in my corner, calling out the parts place on the long delay.

My car was in their lot during this whole time and they even tried installing one of the transmissions that ended up being faulty when test driven, but they did not charge me a single cent for that. I've been nothing but grateful and incredibly impressed with their understanding of my situation. I truly appreciate the honesty and dedication from Steve Sr., Steve Jr., Brenden, and crew. I've been back on the road for almost a week now and my car has been smoother than ever. I'm sure they were tired of seeing my little grey Jetta every single day, but I can comfortably say that I'll be dropping by the pink shop on the corner of College and Cleveland with any other problems in the future!

I bought a used van on Craigslist that broke down 2 days later. Towed it to the local repair shop in Windsor and they tried to tell me I needed a new transmission. Had a feeling I was getting played and towed my car after numerous recommendations to Santa Rosa Hydramatic. The guys here were great. My car did not need a new transmission it needed a new battery! Steve Senior, Steve Jr, Brendan and TJ all helped us work through a number of issues on this older VW. Best mechanics I've ever known. Knew exactly my 2000 Dodge Dakota SLT trans problem. Fixed it with no future problems. I really like these guys, and the owner. I think they are straight shooters and to the point. I would reccomend them, and feel like they are honest. They fixed the vacuum line on my RV's transmission and did a great job a few years ago and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. I am grateful for that, and would feel comfortable recommending you to them. About as good as it gets!

Now this is a real transmission shop. It reminds me of shops from San Francisco where I grew up. They work on all kinds of transmissions, and if they don't have what you need they will find it for you. I needed to borrow a tool, and I was told Steve was the man to talk to. He did find the tool its only a little plunger tool to align your clutch in the center of the flywheel, and pressure plate so your transslips in less chances of wrecking your new clutch.

He found the tool no charge I did leave him a copy of my drivers license so if I didn't come back he would remember me. I took it home it took me about an hour to do my job, and i returned it. As far as good people you can trust. they are a small shop and parking is little but these guys will make sure if you bring it in. You will leave happy. Thanks again Steve, John Leach

I highly recommend that anyone needing your transmission serviced to work/ repairs, etc.; THIS IS THE "GO TO" PLACE Steve Sr. and Steve Jr, are very friendly, very honest and hard working guys. They have a team of highly qualified mechanics. I stupidly ignored a leak in my transmission for over three years! They serviced my tranny, found the leak, replaced a part in the cylanoid block and checked on a few other unrelated issues. The cost? More than reasonable. I got so lucky when I found these guys!

The owner makes me feel comfortable as a woman coming into the shop and they even installed a part at no charge one time! It's very tough to find a good mechanic and I'm so glad I found Hydramatic. We took our 67 Camaro in a few months back. Steve Sr and his entire staff were great to work with. They ended up rebuilding the entire transmission and replacing the clutch. They were very knowledgeable with the older Muncie 4 speed transmissions. The car is more enjoyable to drive with the modern feeling clutch, and it shifts great, and my wife doesn't have to sit so close to the steering wheel with the way they set the catch point/gray area. I would recommend them to anyone looking to get transmission work done.

They had there car towed there on a Saturday and found out they are closed on Saturday's. {clutch problems} So they towed it home. They called the shop on Monday and someone from the shop I believe the owner himself came to there house and looked at it. Told them they could drive it to the shop and he would look at it closer.

Found out it was caused by the floor mat being bunched up under the clutch pedal. He did not charge them anything. Sometimes you worry about recommending a place of business. Did not fill my rear diff on my '65 Mustang. Did not zip tie my neutral safety switch wires out of the way when transmission was rebuilt and caused it to short circuit onto my exhaust. Sure hope that mechanic got fired.

When you own a car that's 56 years old, you find it harder to locate someone who knows what and how to fix and have it done right the first time. This company was a good find. Although my car was in one of the work bays for over seven weeks, after all parts were located, things went smoothly. I was shown what was wrong with my transmission, finding out that the work done years ago by another shop was wrong, and not fixed properly.

My transmission runs great now, with no problems. I was also asked to return in a few months so that it can be checked out. I also found that a dozen donuts will help with better treatment! Thank you Santa Rosa Hydramatic.

I wanted to take a moment to let everyone in Santa Rosa know how happy I was to have found Santa Rosa Hydramatic when I recently had some problems with my Ford Explorer. I had been having trouble putting the truck in reverse and after taking it to some other transmission shops in Santa Rosa who told me I'd probably need a new transmission, Steve did some really thorough diagnostics and found that the actual problem was a rather inexpensive one to fix and I was back on the road in no time. I can not recommend this transmission shop highly enough.

Very personable and helpful, saved me money! Steve took great care to only do the work necessary rather than jumping to the conclusion that I needed a new transmission. He did a great job of explaining things, too. I saved $700 over what was quoted to me by another shop. As a female who could have been vulnerable to a ripoff, I really appreciate all of this and highly recommend him!

I was recently referred to this shop by a friend. I had a few questions about a leak on my wife's Dodge Caravan. I didn't get his name, but the gentleman who answered was extremely helpful. I was planning on doing the leak repair myself and he answered all my questions. He even made a few suggestions as to how to make the repair and achieve the best results.

These guys are great! I rolled my car in to their shop making a horrible sound that another mechanic told me was the transmission. Steve and Steve Jr. took the time to help me determine that it was not the transmission and my engine was leaking oil. They sent me on down the street to a shop that they trust and it will cost me a fraction of what the dealership would've charged me to fix it. Hopefully I won't have to deal with a bad transmission but if ever do, I know where I'll go! It's so nice doing business with people you can trust!

I called about my truck today because I suspected transmission issues, and Steve told me to bring it in anytime and he would take a look. First off, having this flexibility was awesome because I have two small kids. Then, when I arrived, Steve knew exactly who I was and him and his son immediately started taking a look and took it on a test drive.

When Steve returned, he knew what was going on, and thankfully for me, it was not the transmission. He referred me to a mechanic who could help with my specific issue and with a nominal fee, sent me on my way. I am so grateful for his knowledge and honesty as that is hard to find in this industry. And I have not wasted a ton of time and money on this issue. Everyone there is very friendly, and I recommend them to anyone with suspected transmission issues!

If you have any kind of issue with your transmission, this is the place to go. They will not steer you wrong. They helped us and saved us HUNDREDS of dollars the first time we went and literally THOUSANDS when we had another problem. If you want the straight skinny, go other places first if you must, but then go here for the real deal.
