The auto shop I normally take my vehicle could not get me in when my car was overheating. I called up Rick's 36 automotive I was greeted by Mars. I told him what was going on with my car. He informed me that they were a man down that day due to covid and would not be able to get it done with in that same day. Right away he offered me a loaner car and said that I could drop my car off and they would look at it as soon as they possibly could.

I dropped my car off around 10:30. Mars offered me refreshments and drink options. He asked me a couple of more questions about my car, handed me keys for the loaner car and I was on with my day. 2 hours later Mars called me with the diagnosis for my car. Mars informed me that they would have it fixed before I had to go to work! I was very pleased with the customer service and the way that everything was explained to me.

I am a single mother of 2 children, having a working car is very necessary for daily life. I will definitely recommend Ricks 100% and be going back in the future. Thank you so much to Mars and the team at Ricks!

My jeep started smoking really bad at the holiday down the block and noticed my belt was shredding itself and fast so a nice gentleman helped me find a shop near by and this is where i ended up! They were so nice and fast i now recommended my grandfather go there instead of the dealership! They got me in right on the spot!

Highly recommend taking your car anywhere else. Brought our Honda Pilot in to have them look at the check engine light. Spent $950 to chemically clean the engine/tune up, per their diagnosis. Engine light went back on less than 100 miles later for the exact same codes. Bought a Tucson and brought it to them for a FULL $150 inspection. They said It needed new brakes and tires, they recommended changing all fluids as well for $3800 total. Brought it back 2 days after the service because it was pulling very hard right, they tried to do alignment but told me they would have to drill into or replace the struts, still charged me for alignment.

We brought it back in for a slight exhaust leak 2 weeks later, they then told me my upper/lower ball joints were shot and that's why it's pulling right, and that the car needed a new timing belt/full assembly for another $3800. how did they miss all that in a full car inspection? ONLY 20 miles after they replaced my exhaust Y pipe, the engine light went on for the o2 sensors that were faulty in the EXACT place they just serviced, with no light on prior to their work. Brought it back in and they want over $500 for sensors with labor.

I just did my own sensors in 1 hour for $50/each, but their "professional" mechanics needed 1.3 hours? They offered us a "discount" by not charging for the o2 sensor inspection fee, even though they have had our car more than we have the last few weeks.how many times do we have to pay for inspection fees? Sad to say but they give good local mechanic shops a horrible rep, and I will certainly be taking my business elsewhere along with spreading the word locally. Thanks for those who took the time to read this, wish you all better quality than what Rick's provides.

From the very beginning, we were treated with kindness and compassion. We needed our vehicle repaired and maintenance caught up, and the tech that had called me to inform me about the maintenance was very courteous and very knowledgeable and educated thoroughly about the work that needed to be done. We were able to get a loaner vehicle and they were very understanding about our situation and we were able to assistance from their generosity.

I have never dealt with such kind hearted and courteous people who are fair and understanding but yet they need to run a business. Going forward, I will be going to Rick's on 36 for future repairs andmaintenance because they really know how to take care of their people. Thank you for all of your generosity and grace that was shown to me and my family.

Apparently I missed a few things in my upkeep, they found them, and did not hustle me at all about cherry picking what I wanted done. interacted with 3 employees, all being very courteous, upbeat, and informative. To be honest, there is a difference in the feel an sound of my engine, I feel like their work brought it back up to previous condition, like going to a spa! can recommend.

Scheduling over the phone was easy. They got me in and out quickly and at a reasonable/fair price. I appreciate the multi-point check that went along with my oil change. It identified a coolant leak on my new car that I otherwise would not have found. Service: Oil change

Rick's 36 is the only place we would take our car if we lived in state. We were 14 hours from home and they helped us out greatly! Very friendly staff, honest mechanics, and timely service. Great experience overall, highly recommended.

Rick's 36 always goes above & beyond in their vehicle care & concern. I brought our car over last week as the cold made the tire pressure low- this was later in the day as we didn't notice until after 3 pm - fortunately they are open until 6pm! We scheduled an oil change & radiator fluid check & flush for a few days later- very satisfied with the work & price. They have free snacks & water & pop in the waiting room & were playing "A Christmas Story " which I had not seen- fun to see this. We will be using them again in the future!

AAA towed our vehicle to this location. Rick's 36 informed us that to replace our alternator it would be 5 and 1/2 to 6 hours labor plus the cost of the alternator. After giving them the go-ahead, I was able to check with two other repair shops that I trusted that were closer to our hometown. I should have had AAA tow the 80 miles to the places that I trusted.

Both repair shops told me that it was 3.6 hours labor, not the 5 1/2 to 6 hours that Rick's 36 quoted me. Originally Rick's 36 was trying to charge me $1,400 and some dollars for the alternator repair. Both shops that I trust quoted me about $750 for the entire job. I ended up paying Rick's 36 right at $1,300. $550 more than two other repair shops that I trust.

On the day of service I got a text message that the repair technician started on my car at 12:02 p.m. I got another text that my car was ready for pickup at 3:06 p.m. that was only 3 hours. Based upon the value of the service I would not recommend Rick's 36 to anyone!

My Subaru needed the timing belt replaced, a brake job, and a few other items serviced. The friendly team at Rick's did a superb job, quoted me a fair price, and did the job in a very timely manner. The job even came in a little under budget. You can't ask for anything more

They got me in/out in 30 minutes while I waited. As expected for an oil change appointment. Rick's has serviced nearly all maintenance on my 2004 Dodge since I purchased it in 2005. There is a reason why I return. Owner Mars and his team have been responsive and always fair on dealing maintaining my car, which now has 184,000 miles on it.

Blew up my transmission. Mars and the team at Ricks36 worked hard to make this deal work for both of us. They got my truck back in shape and provided a loaner while I was down. Communication was stellar and Mars really went out of his way to ensure that we'd both be satisfied when the final payment was made. THANK YOU to the team at Ricks 36! -Tyler

I brought my motor home in for brakes because they were the only place in the twin cities area that were willing to do it. We had a brake problem in Des Moines while on a trip to New Mexico. Had to have a mobile place repair it. The problem was a defective part. When I got back I called Rick's about it. They were supper nice and said if I sent them the bill they would take care of it. It was over $600 and they paid the full amount. They are not only the only place in the metro area that will service a motor home but they 100% stand behind their work.

These are the type of mechanics that give mechanics a bad name. I went to Rick's because a previous garage, which had changed the oil on our RV said our tires were showing some dry rot and we might what them replaced. They only had 35,000 miles, so I wanted a second opinion. Rick's was recommended. I called and made an appointment to have my tires evaluated and replaced as needed.

When I arrived, they told me there was a $120 charge for this. I was not told when I made the appointment. If I had been told, I would not have had them do it, but since I was already there; I decided to let it go. They contacted me the next day and said the tires were fine, but had found $1,900 worth of other maintenance items that they recommended.

Most would have been found by the first business if they really existed. I declined. When I went to pick up my RV the charge was not $120 but $122 plus $10.38 for "shop charges".

Highly dissatisfied. Charged me close to $1200 for front calipers and brakes. Told me I needed a handful more repairs need to be done for about the same price (brake line, back calipers/brakes, tie rods, and ball bearings all needed to be replaced).Went to a different mechanic (who did the exact same repairs on the back, for $300), and was told they severly overcharged me (by about $800), and lied about all the other things that needed to be "repaired".

Also charged labor for putting brakes on calipers, when they are sold as one piece, are you kidding me? Very predatory, probably due to their location (people in the area have lots of money). Thanks for taking advantage of me, now I'm in a financial fiasco and out around $800. Would NOT recommend to anyone, unless you enjoy paying four times what something actually costs. Scam artists, and I demand a refund, or I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I currently have 2 vehicles that Rick's 36 help me maintain. One 2006 and one 2014. I've always felt that the staff at Rick's is clear about what needs to happen with each vehicle to keep my investments in the best shape. Some might experience this as trying to drum up business. I see it as information for me about my investments. At times I've felt overwhelmed, but I've never felt pressured to complete any of their recommendations.

When I've had questions, they are always answered. Sometimes the guys will even bring me back into the shop to get a visual explanation of the problem. There have been times I've chosen to do the work and other times I've chosen not to have the recommended work done. Either way is just fine with Rick's. I have been a single mother now, for 20 years, and I have been bringing my vehicles to Rick's since around 2002.

I always have confidence that my best interests are being looked after. I take responsibility for my understanding of my vehicles and I'm grateful to have Ricks in my corner to help me do this. I would recommend Rick's knowledge and experience to anyone who asks.

I would have rated this less than 0 stars. They are crooks; even worse, they are idiots. suggested that the car would could be driven for another day while the "part could get there by the next day", then when asked "is that safe?" they answered maybe not. WTF?! Go to hell Evan. NEVER do business with these people because you might have a brain aneurysm due to the level of disregard for any acceptable business practice and mostly for their piss poor justification of said practice. Seriously go f*** yourself Evan and the whole model at Richard's Thirty-six. This is why school is important people.

I have been a long time customer of Rick's under both the original owner and the current owner. Lately I've been doing most of my own work so I haven't used them for a time. Recently I needed an alignment and checked out local options for this service. I was really surprised to see the poor reviews for Ricks. Because of my prior good experience I decided to give them a try.

I was able to get a convenient appointment and they completed the work as promised. The price seemed fair (about $80) for my AWD Dodge Magnum. As far as I can tell the work was good and a former slight pull to the left was gone. They did suggest I keep an eye on the struts (due to the car's mileage) but weren't at all pushy about it. This is about all I expect in a repair shop.

Ricks 36 is clean and the staff is very personable. But. I won't go back. They changed my oil and then informed me that I had a loose tie rod so"don't drive much.you need a tune up" and numerous other things that I'm thankful they told me about. However, I had a tune up a month ago by a good friend who is a mechanic and that same mechanic just put on new brakes and said the tie rod just needed some grease.

In other words, ricks 36 was trying to scare me into spending $300 to fix a tie rod that doesn't need fixing and a tune up that didn't need it. Now, if I would have said "go ahead and fix it all" would they have noticed the plugs were new when they removed the manifold, or say they replaced them and charge me? I'll never know because I feel they tried to scam me.

Horrible! Spent $1500 and the problem was NOT fixed. They said it was the ball joints causing the wobble. Left and wobble was still there. Brought vehicle back and they said it must be the tires. They quoted me over $1000 for new tires but I complained and they brought the price down to $778 but the problem is, I couldn't find anyone who would do the same tires for more than $680 so they were going to charge $320 more than anyone else to do the same tires.

This shop is ripping people off in a big way. You can believe the other reviews. THEY GOUGE! COMPLETE AND ABSOLUTE RIP OFF ARTISTS. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE! ANYWHERE WILL BE BETTER.

Completely incompetent, dishonest, shoddy work. I dropped my 09 H3 Hummer off here because it was the closest place to my hotel. They told me my transmission needed to be replaced, then began the nightmare of being upsold every hour. I agreed to replace the transmission, then the radiator, then more and more work started to be suggested. They had my truck for an entire week and when I drove away I realized my 4x4 was no longer working.

I immediately turned around and went back to the shop and confronted the manager, long story short, I took my truck to a place in my hometown I trust and wasn't surprised to discover that the work done by Ricks 36 auto was a disaster, my local shop found missing bolts, screws, etc and also found the "new" transmission was already spewing fluid everywhere.

My 4x4 wasn't working because it had been unplugged, we are at a loss as to why other than Ricks was planning on trying to get me to replace a "broken" 4x4 but didn't once I started fighting back and questioning their ever evolving story. I'm already in contact with my lawyer.

I took my car there for an oil change. Before long, I was signing a credit card to pay for a $391 charge for a ball joint and alignment. Labor was over 250! I really wish I had read the reviews but I blame myself for not calling around to check other prices first. It was just messed up to freak me out about the tire falling off.

There was a time when Rick's had the reputation of being honest, but that time is over. They overcharge for labor like crazy, tried to get me to pay $600 for new spark plugs. They tried to charge 3-4 hours for labor. Took to another shop for $200.

Buyer beware! The $19.95 oil change coupon is a marketing tactic to get you in -- and then have them tell you the scads of things wrong with your car. After having another two mechanics look at my vehicle, none of it was true. $367.00 saved. Maybe because I am a woman. How sad if that is the case.

I used to love taking my car to Ricks. They are personable and run a clean, well-ordered garage. However, their prices have just gotten too steep for me. After I had them replace an intake manifold gasket, I found out that they charged considerably more than what the dealership charged for the same repair. I'm lucky that my son is a motor head and now does many of my repairs for me. When he can't do it, I'm back to Maplewood Toyota.
