The air conditioning unit in your vehicle operates similarly to a refrigerator. Your vehicle's air conditioning unit is designed to move heat from the inside of your car to outside of it. The refrigerant carries heat. In modern cars, refrigerant is a substance called R-134a. Older cars' refrigerant is called r-12 freon, which is more expensive and difficult to find than R-134a.
Your vehicle's axles are vital to keeping you safe on the road. They are just as important as other safety devices on your vehicle, such as brakes and tires. Axles bear all of your vehicle's weight. They connect its wheels and help drive the vehicle. In most cars, the axles are an essential part of the steering system, working with power steering fluid and other components to ensure smooth turning. When most people think of the word axle, they imagine a bar between two wheels, as seen on wagons or train cars.

Over the winter I slid on some ice and needed a new wheel and control arm. Geicko worked with Probilt on getting everything fixed. Dan convinced me not to use a part Geicko recommended due to it being used. I trusted that. Paid more personally to them because Geicko wasn't going to pay for the new part. When I picked it up everything seemed fine. There was still a noise it wasn't making from the ice incident, but I can't find any rubbing or anything wrong.

Still not sure if everything was fixed properly though. Fast forward a few months and my AC was no longer working or blowing cold air. Thought I'd go back since they seemingly did a decent job. Dan did the diagnostic test on everything and gave me a call. Said I would essentially need a whole new compressor and clutch for the AC and it was making a really loud noise during the testing. Quoted me between $1200 to $1500, which I felt was insane.

I have a 2015 Subaru with 55k miles on it. The AC wouldn't have been damaged during the right tire ice incident. No reason the AC should just be out of service like that. I decided to wait and get a second opinion. Of course after getting charged for all the testing still with no fixes. Which is normal, but still. I took it to a place in Nashville, where I went prior to moving to Louisville a few years back.

My family and I have gone to them for years, have a good relationship, and they are reliable. This is where it gets crazy. They call me and say they checked the systems for the AC (I even gave them the Probilt paper with their recommendations). Said everything checked out fine. Stated they wouldn't replace any of the parts because they are working great and in pretty new condition.

However the AC was completely drained of freon. They put freon in and recharged the system for $200 (Probilt was going to charge around $300-$500 for the same thing. Also said who knows how long it will last before you need to make the big fixes they recommended initially. They never said anything about freon. I'm sure the AC was shaking and making noise without any).

My AC is working great now and blowing cold air thanks to the shop I ended up getting the second opinion with. The shop I went to was puzzled on how there would not be any freon in the car if there was not a leak, which they checked for and there was not. Said it would have to be taken out of the car. So I'm not going to directly point fingers but everything was fine with my AC before Probilt, but of course it was still winter after I got the car back from the ice incident so I never noticed anything wrong right away.

I won't be going back because I feel a little scammed. I don't ever write reviews but when it comes to your car and spending hundreds vs thousands I think people should be aware. This might be a shop that won't tell you about problems, or make problems worse, so you have to spend more to fix something that was likely easy/cheaper before hand.

A huge thank you to the folks at Probilt! My old car is transformed, seriously. In the middle of my cross-country move, I found myself in Louisville with a check engine light that had started flashing at me like it meant it. They fit me in on a Friday, and proceeded to save the day. They got me out of there by 3pm and my car drives like a totally different vehicle.

Along with figuring out the problem with the check engine light (spark plugs and coils), they also pointed out that two of my tires were a mess as well as my battery. I trust their diagnoses and work because I proceeded to drive on 600 miles and it drives like a dream! None of the annoying shakes and pulls that I had thought were just "old car quirks". Now: I have taken this car to several mechanics for general check ups since buying it, and once even for a check engine light that kept coming on, and none of them got to the root(s) of the problem.

So along with being great rescuers in an emergency situation, I can say these folks are a cut above just all around. Fast problem solving and work that WORKS. Thanks everyone.

I had to have a brake line replaced that failed unexpectedly and I didnt have time to replace myself. Called first thing in the morning and talked to Dan, they fit me in, did an AMAZING job and were done by 1pm. They are very fairly priced and will gladly bring my cars back here in the future.

We were in Louisville from Lexington to visit family. Our muffler broke and the exhaust system was thumping loudly against the underside of the car. It was afternoon on Friday. We had never dealt with Probilt. It was an emergency for us. We pulled into the premises, explained our emergency, the staff was very courteous and professional. They removed another customer car from the lift, raised our car, told us the muffler was busted, told us they would put us on the schedule for an immediate repair, showed us exactly what it would cost, they gave us a very fair quote, did not try to exploit our emergency, and had the car fixed in just minutes, after the new muffler was delivered. It was all done in less than an an hour. They are GREAT!

Been going to Probilt for 23 yrs. Would not consider going elsewhere. Am treated with respect and informed of anything they find wrong. Prices are very reasonable and they have never tried to up-sale me. Any problem I have had with my auto, they fixed perfectly.

Really impressed and grateful for the honesty of Damon and the guys there. They did me a real solid and helped me avoid buying a car that someone had purposely hidden some issues on. It's nice to know people like Damon and the guys at ProBilt are looking out for the little guy. Thank you all!

Probilt has always helped me with my needs. The first time I needed their assistance, I REALLY needed them. My axel rod literally broke in half and was stuck in a parking lot. My car was easily fixed without problem for a reasonable price. Secondly I needed a repair to a headlight which they were able to do, although my dad had previously done some damage to it.

For this reason, there was some extra labor and I was charged more money than expected. The third time I went to Probilt, I was in need of a new bulb for one of my turn indicators. The team replaced free of charge (I'm uncertain if this was due to the $98 charge on my previous headlight bill), but regardless, I was satisfied. This fourth time I went, was for an oil change.

This was within covid restrictions time. There was a few chairs in front of the front desk to help spread out customers from the employees. The employees were not wearing masks, but at the time, I believe the door was also open. Still, probably not "covid kosher" but alas, here were are. #2020 This place is a smaller "mom/pop" kind of facility, nothing fancy, but everyone has been pretty nice and let me know when other things on my car might be in need of some repair.

I was driving from Columbus to Nashville and some metal piece from under the front of my car came loose and was dragging on the road. I was driving through Louisville, but it was just after 5, so I was panicking and found Probilt on Yelp. I decided to go there since it was open until 5:30 on the hope that they could somehow fit me in and I could be on my way.

I showed up at 5:20pm. Explained my problem. They IMMEDIATELY took my car in, checked it out, and within 10 minutes it was fixed and ready to go. I went to pay and they REFUSED to take any payment for it despite my repeated offerings. I was stunned at how nice they were to do that. I wish these guys lived in my city because I would only go to them. Great people, great work. Please go here for any of your automotive needs.

I don't trust my truck to just anyone and I'll drive "a few" extra miles to have competent, reliable mechanics, that won't rip me off when it comes to PMs and repairs on all my vehicles. Keith Tennill and his crew are definitely mechanics that've been around the track a few times, but won't take the customer for a ride. Aces!

Keith and team are top notch. I'm glad I came across their other positive reviews and gave them a shot. My experience has been similar. They're friendly, professional, and trustworthy. Everything I'm looking for when getting work done on my vehicle. Recommended!

I'm afraid our experience was rather poor and even confusing for the second shop we went to for the subsequent work stemming from Probilt. For starters, they have a system in place where they keep notes on a computer but do not share that information with you on your receipt. Such was the case when we asked them to check our suspension, brakes, steering system, and tires. TIRES.

They told us the tires were fine. The same tires that the tire shop said the following week we're extremely dangerous to have on my car and should have been replaced on the spot; the rubber had worn all the way down and the metal fibers were sticking out. When I called to address this, the guy on the phone said on his computer notes, it suggested new tires, but they didn't bother telling us. However, they did charge us $1,100 to replace two control arms and two ball joints and rotate our tires (found out later two other shops only charge $500 for same work).

Just rotate, that's it. So they took off the tires and didn't care about the condition of them. Also, there was no alignment done. It was very much needed with how bad the pulling was. This is where some controversy starts, the tire shop who actually took care of us and gave us new tires could not align the tires because the rear laterals were messed up so bad, but they also stated alignment should have been done if the ball joints we're replaced, regardless of any control arm work, but that means Probilt should have caught the bad rear laterals and told us.

After calling 3 other mecahnics, I called Probilt again, and he stated A THIRD TIME, while I had him on speaker with a mechanic next to me, alignment was not necessary. The shop that took care of us theorized that either Probilt was too lazy to align or they possibly don't even own the alignment machine as it's very expensive. Their negligence has put my wife in danger and has also led to other issues which I will be addressing with the attorney on my next appointment. TL;DR. Probilt had a blank check, didn't tell us tires were dangerous, ignored some stuff, charged $1,100 on what would be $500 at a few other places, and other mechanic shop are questioning their integrity/knowledge

Loyal customer 20+ years. Through Honda's, Toyota's, Cadillac's, Lexi, and Nissan's, Keith and company have not only taken excellent care of our cars, even when he doesn't hear what I hear, but have always steered (see what I did there) us to other reputable and reasonable businesses when solving 'other' car issues. Can't go wrong here. Honest and cuts to the chase.

I was in town for a show at the Expo Center and my car had developed tapping sound. Knowing that I had to drive back to Florida, Keith was able to get my car in right away to replace the lifters. I had it back at the end of the following day. I sincerely appreciate the quick service.

Keith and his family have an old fashion value business here. I have used them three times so far a year apart and the service is great. I believe them to be fair and efficient. They have two locations with a family presence in each. On one event I was caught with a power window motor that had failed with the window down. I attempted to fix myself and was without proper tools. They fit me in at the Jefferson location and I was out the door in 45. I would feel comfortable sending my daughter here.

I was in Louisville from out of town and the day I was supposed to leave I found that my car had a massive oil leak. I looked at reviews for various places online where to take my care and ended up choosing Probilt. Initially when I called, they didn't seem like they could get me in that day but I told them my story and they took me right away.

I received an estimate within a reasonable amount of time (a few hours) and they had my car fixed a few hours after that. During casual conversation I mentioned I was a student and they said they could even give me a student discount so the amount I paid was even less than their initial estimate. I highly recommend this place to anyone needing their car fixed.

When I moved to Louisville, I was concerned with finding a reliable, honest auto shop. After a few shady choices, I landed at Probilt due to the Yelp reviews. Probilt has serviced my car for 3 years now and I couldn't be happier. The team is knowledgeable, honest, and keeps great records of all maintenance. They always provide solid reasoning for all suggestions as well as cost and feasibility to delay/avoid.

My auto knowledge is lacking, and they are able to decipher my silly explanations and find the root cause of my troubles. Scott has been nothing but wonderful to work with. ALSO, they will give you a ride to & from work which is so helpful. Seriously, I can't recommend Probilt enough. They are wonderful, do great work, and genuinely look out for their customers.

Top notch. Great customer service, competitive prices and clean. My car was having issues and this shop isn't too far from me so I called over. Great service on the phone, made an appointment to drop the car off the next business day. When I dropped it off and explained to him what was wrong he typed everything I told him into their computer system, that gave me the warm and fuzzies.

They have a shuttle and are happy to drive you where you need to go. Great communication from start to finish. New rotors, pads, tune up and fuel system cleaning done that day. I was very happy with the price and they did a military discount. It's a relief to have a great neighborhood shop.

We were traveling through Louisville and woke up to find we had a flat tire. We were able to get to Probilt, and they were a godsend. They took a look right away (without making us feel like we were an inconvenience), figured out that a plug in the tire would get us home to Chicago, and had us on the road in no time--all for $10 plus tax. A shop that treats people fairly even when they're not likely to be repeat customers is a true gem. And a trustworthy mechanic is worth his weight in gold.
