Motor Motion Automotive is a family owned business originally established in downtown Salida in 1979. Greg Wray, the owner, maintains a personal touch with customers and enjoys making new friends one car at a time! In 1990 the business moved to the more modern and spacious location on Greenleaf Court near Costco.
I am Motor Motion Devotee. There is no way that I would ever take any of my vehicles to any other repair shop. I am 68 years old an have been around the block more than a few times. I have owned and kept in immaculate condition a 1980 Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible, XK-8 Jaguars, Ferraris, Mercede Benzs, Ford Fusions, AMC Jeeps, GMC 4 x 4 Trucks adn a 1999 BMW 328i M Series III.
Dimming lights in a movie scene are never a good sign. So are dimming lights in your car. The alternator is the part of the electrical system that turns mechanical energy into electricity and also charges the battery. If your lights start dimming at night, and you notice it's taking a few tries to start your car, come in for service as soon as possible - because stalling in the middle of nowhere is scary.
After being in business for over 30 years in Modesto, CA, we know that temperatures here can be downright brutal. I highly recommend Motor Motion Automotive. We received quotes of 9-10k from two other shops to replace the engine in our Kia Optima, and then found MMA through Costco's Auto program. Not only did they make the repair at a far lower price of 6.6k, but also got the job done quickly. We towed the car in on a Friday and picked it up just days later on Wednesday. Friendly folks and great customer experience, too.

My Durango needed solenoids replaced and Motor Motion Automotive went above and beyond to get it fixed and their price was very reasonable. I would've spent so much more if I'd went anywhere else. With great people and great service I will be back and I'll bring friends and family with me.

My sons clutch went out on his 2012 Jeep Wrangler, on a visit home from college. Once we got the jeep into the shop we found out there was more going on than anticipated. Teena was fantastic about working with my warranty company and getting as much covered and his jeep back on the road. Delays in parts and warranty red tape was frustrating at times but Tenna always was willing to keep me updated and spend literally hours on the phone with the warranty company. Jeep is running great and I feel safe having him traveling again.

Lets just say I took the car to fix it, they over charged me and added to my car problem instead of fixing it, and when I had questions they had an attitude. I don't recommend this place to anyone very bad experience that I don't wish for anyone.

Do not go here unless you like wasting money and enjoy being taken advantage of! They add a lot of unnecessary repairs. And get angry if you decline or ask questions. I got a second opinion and paid half the price. When I showed the new mechanics the original estimate I received from motor motion they couldn't stop laughing and apologized that not all mechanics are shady. When possible I would shop around, don't take the first estimate. Most likely you will get a better price some where else.

When I went to a new shop they said they were ripping me off and most of the repairs were unrelated to my original issue. I would be very careful what you agree to and do your research. I learned that they get very defensive at the shop when you ask questions as to why.

In the past I spent a lot of money there without questions so they probably thought they could keep milking me. You've been warned, learn from my very expensive lesson. I highly recommend looking around if possible!

Tina was very helpful got me in within minutes of my call and my van was diagnosed and fixed the next day. The shop offered shuttle service which made picking up my vehicle much easier! Service: Auto engine diagnostic

I wouldn't recommend this mechanic especially if you are needing your vehicle in a timely manner or are looking for a good customer service experience. There was little to no contact. Every conversation was brief, at the end of day so if I couldn't answer I couldn't call back, and was rude except when talking to Nicole. Nicole is very sweet. Getting an update on my vehicle was like pulling teeth.

And getting any kind of timeline was equally as difficult. On multiple occasions it was "you will hear from us on (this day)" and then not hear from them for days after expected. I tried to communicate that I was not satisfied with my customer service experience or timeline the first week, but was not received very well because there was hardly any change at all even while picking up my car almost a month later. I will say that the diagnostic report was very comprehensive and in depth.

Greg and his team truly treated us like family and kept in contact with us throughout the whole process. They went above and beyond with our car, and I won't bother going to any other shop. They have a lifelong customer.

I have been there twice, and I thought they were quick and efficient. They replaced my ceramic brakes for less than I expected. They drove my grandson and me down to Boomers and picked us up a couple of hours later. It was seamless. I returned to replace items that they recommended -- they gave me pictures to show me the problem areas. We had a slight delay because of a broken piece that they had to go across town to replace, which did not take too long. I live out of town so was very glad that they were efficient. Definitely will return as needed.

This is the first time that I've had one of my vehicles serviced by Motor Motion and I'm very impressed by their courteous service and professionalism. Based on this experience, I will use their services in the future and recommend them to others.

Copied in verbatim from Google review. Well, since maps is asking as to how it went, will be short and to the point. As much as I hate leaving a bad review for a local business, I have no other choice. Made appointment 2 weeks ago to take in vehicle for what should've been a somewhat simple repair and more than 24 hours later, after getting their text about signing up for updates and whatnot, I had to call them.all to find out my vehicle wasn't touched at all.

It is clearly a business vehicle with an air conditioning issue. I was expecting much better. Had to go pick up. I didn't expect vehicle to be repaired in this time, but looked at would've been nice. Go read their yelp reviews also. Many of the same sort of issues from others also. Excuse was that was behind on another job. If that was the case yesterday, could you have told me that when I called right before it was brought in? Not a happy camper.

Sent my truck to this shop because it was recommended by AAA. What a mistake. Not sure who took the initial call but they have no manners! Very rude and degrading. Will not be doing business here again and will not recomend to anyone. will also contact AAA and file a complaint.

Drove in with a vibration and a warranty from CarMax for our Honda Pilot. They found a lot more wrong and put up a good fight with the warranty company. In the end they performed $12k worth of work and we only paid a deductible. Very impressed and grateful they fought for us and treated us as a valued customer. We now have a practically brand new vehicle under the hood and am so grateful for their diligence in doing everything the right way with the right parts!

I had another repair done on my vehicle on Monday April 12th, and happy that I did! I have no hesitation in returning this coming week for even more repairs. Great customer service. On a side note - when you hear an employee make a comment about how their job at Motor Motion is the best job they've ever had (in so many words); that speaks for itself. Don't hesitate to visit them whenever you need repairs.

I waited and sat on this before I wrote this review. I purchased a car and was looking for a mechanic shop that I could trust and keep coming back to, thats how I found Motor Motion. Going through tons of reviews and even the fact that they are family owned and seemed very for the community were all check marks for me! The first visit seemed to go well front desk help was a little rough around the edges but nothing that couldn't be over looked.

Beautiful building everything was looks great from the outside! They were knowledgeable on submitting claim forms for your insurance that was very appealing to me. Now here is where it goes south. Brought my car because my seat warmer went out. They submitted claim got the insurance to take care of it but said I had another problem with my turbo fuel injector and it needed to be replaced but insurance wouldn't cover it. Ok. I'll pay sounds serious.

Get my car back and get home and notice the alarm is now not working. Ask them to check it since they were messing around with the electrical I thought it could have been an accident. They charge me to have it checked. That didn't make me happy. They managed to get the insurance to pay for that but still made me pay a diagnostic fee. Already feeling uneasy about this but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Go in again for a routine oil change and come out needing almost 1000 worth of shocks now. You see where I'm going here. Everytime I bring in my 2015 car I keep walking out with new issues. Was than persuaded to open a synchrony credit card with them after I was told about my shocks. Wow I was foolish. Opened the credit card really thought I needed the shocks. Walked away with the work done a new credit card bill but an uneasy feeling again.

Let alone at this point im tired of the 6hr oil change jobs. They keep your car all day for an oil change unless you tell them you need your car and than you still get it back 2 to 4 hrs later it's ridiculous honestly. Just came in this week for another routine oil change giving them one final chance, I figure they know my car I might just be acting paranoid.

Get my car back suprised I didn't need another 1000 in mysterious work. Well after 2 weeks I notice my car is leaking large amounts of oil everywhere! At first I thought it was A.C. water but no it was oil. Took it back was very upset and was treated with little concern. Told this is common it happens for multiple reason with the oil plug. I don't know much about cars but a routine oil change shouldn't lead to oil all over the guts of my car and my driveway.

If I hadn't noticed my car could have been in some serious trouble. I believe these people overcharge, I believe they create problems that lead you to have to come back, and they take advantage of people who don't know better. I should have listened to my gut instincts the first time. If you read other reviews people express the same feelings and I shouldn't have ignored that. It's a shame when you can't trust a business. Don't be fooled by the smoke and mirrors.

I took my car to Motor Motion Automotive under the guidance of my warranty service. I paid the deductible up front and it went to hell from there. For your sanity, avoid this shop if possible. October 2019: 1. My car was in the shop for weeks, not about a week as estimated. 2. They tried to upsell me multiple times after I made it clear that I only wanted the work covered under warranty. 3.

They broke my rack and pinion and were not upfront about it. I kept being fed random excuses for the delays before they finally came clean. 4. They tried to make me pay for what they broke. see point 3. 5. My steering column now raddles every time I hit a bump. 6. At the time of pickup, they claimed additional fees not covered by the warranty. These fees were never discussed or approved.

They waved them and we went our separate ways. April 2020: Now, over 6 months later, I received a 90 days past due for an unrecognizable service and amount. It took three calls before they concluded that it must be from the aforementioned point 6, despite the numbers nowhere near aligning. They now claim the fees were never waived. To reiterate, I was never contacted about this in the over six months since the service. I've spent more time and energy than any individual should in getting a car repaired under warranty. My steering column reminds me of this terrible experience every time I hit a bump.

I am the son of the man ( vet ) that has been priced gouged by this establishment. and after paying the $ 12,000.00 bill, my father broke down on his way home, less then 6 miles.called the shop and told them he was broke down again and was told." try to make it home and we'll talk to you monday." what is the level of service you should give after they pay your bill. tell the costumers with the' new engine " get it home we'll talk to you monday. the estimate was far less then the final price.and the first time they charged my father over 5000.00 for the for the car to need a new motor only a week later.and then this, is the type of service you get when the car won't make it home after you payed another $ 12000.00.i don't recommend the establishment for the obvious reasons. stay away!

I should of known. big beautiful, full service.building with a long history, of quality service. in the area. but the lady at the counter. must of not liked me. my appearance, my car, my name. hair, license plate cover? o really have no idea. but they have amazing "coupons" but there really just beginner microsoft office. text with a border. lmao no coupon code, no barcode, no "officialness" but they need to be printed out.? and everything was said to me rudely. condesending. i made a 1 o clock appointment. arrived 10 minutes early. after 1 1/2, i guess i had the nerve. just to speak. and ask if it was gonna be done. i could of paid $10 more at jiffy lube, oil can henry's etc. been talked to nicely, talked to about my vehicle and oil change service. given a newspaper, etc. and not been robbed of 75 minutes of my life and gangged up on by some passive aggressive don't let u talk. all american hard working family that is obviously better than some first time customer and his synthetic oil change. lmao like i said. nice waiting area, good prices, home made coupons, and no way in hell i'm coming back. - good luck to the rest of you.

I have been taking my 2001 Buick to these people for 2 years now because their service is the best in Modesto. They are always prompt and provide detailed diagnostics. The few times I have taken my car in for service, it always comes back running like a new car. I really appreciate having a mechanic I can trust. Especially on a car 18 years old. I highly recommend Motor Motion Automotive.

Greg is an amazingly, generous person! When our motorhome broke down on our travels & no one else around could fix her for another week, Greg said, bring it here, stay the night in your motorhome at the shop & he'll get on it in the morning! What a life saver! We highly recommend going to Motor Motion!

Disappointed in their pricing. When I called to ask if they worked on Mercedes Sprinter Van's they said they did. I told them I didn't want to pay the high dealer prices. MOTOR MOTION was over $300 higher than dealer. I asked if they could match dealer price. Greg said nope.we have had other problems with them not resetting computers after service and oil changes. Done with them.

Friendly shuttle driver and polite customer care, but $130/hr (without embarrassment for having my car all day to do that one hour of work; or asking to add another $250 to the bill just to stay on the job!). All the time knowing the problem began when they did $2500 worth of work 90 days ago! Have some mercy. Thinking this will be my last trip! AND NO.

I definitely would not recommend this place to anybody who earns less than 6figures+ or has an extra hour in the day to drive to another quality shop. (At least the European dealers detail your car before giving it back). If money is not an issue, then this is the place for you FOLLOWUP: dropped my rating to 1 star. Took my car back and spent about an hour researching google for probable culprits to my issue-narrowed it down to 2.

My husband spent 20 minutes replacing the wire harness - and SHAZAM! The error alarm to the trunk was fixed! (See, it really had nothing to do with my tires, or shocks, or ANY of the fluids needing to be replaced, . it actually had to do with the trunk!) I was told the tech spent an hour; then Tina told me he spent over 4 hours. Based on the results, I believe the first guy.

People are really nice. But be careful. Prices are OUTRAGEOUS and in my case for a little more I could have just had the dealership completely repair as opposed to the extremely expensive patch I got from these people. I am new to the area and a friend found them on yelp and recommended to me. I want to leave an honest assessment and ensure others are aware, nice people, ridiculous pricing.

Be weary of them. The "estimate" I received more than doubled without so much as a phone call. Had they called and told me how much they planned to charge me I would have declined. I do plan to file a complaint with the BBB about their failure to communicate with me. When I complained the woman said it wasn't personal.

I love family run businesses. The place feels that way too. I did ask for a quote and was promised a call back. Never received a call. I called a second time and was told the initial employee was on days off and he would call me back with a quote and to excuse their "growing pains". Guess what? No call back. They provided service to my son's car and we're thorough, however when I asked for a quote in the office, it was as high as Modesto Mercedes!

Parking lot is busy. I'd suggest you park on the street. Waiting room is comfortable. Wait time for repairs is average. Repair costs comparatively, id say higher than average but not ridiculous (most of the time). Reception and communication skills are below average. It's just average. Reading other reviews, I can definitely see the favorable atmosphere, however they might be growing too fast and getting too greedy in the process.
