Very impressive waiting and service area. Updated and very busy. Downside is that it is hard to get last minute appointment in case of urgent help since they are so busy.

They misdiagnosed a wheel bearing, charging me $500 to do the work. and it did NOTHING to fix the problem. The problem wound up being a loose shield under the car that was making a loud intermittent noise. Paul the service manager at Matthew's REFUSED to refund ANY of my $500. He had several arguments that he countered with during our 15 minute exchange.

He started with, "I have to trust my technician - there had to have been two things wrong with the car". What a great line for ANY mechanic that screws up a diagnosis. He seemed pretty quick to respond with that answer - he must use it a lot. Not sure that I would ever go to a mechanic who EVER uses this line. Why stop at two? Say five and go to town!

Other words of wisdom during the conversation, "We changed the bearing and the work is already done - we can't just give you your money back." Hmmmm. Really? Even if it did nothing to fix the problem? Let's be clear. It's not that you CAN'T, it's that you WON'T. World of difference - and says a lot about your business practices.

Or my favorite, "You signed the paperwork that OK'ed us to do the work." What a beyond ridiculous thing to say. I used to think that signing was just to approve the amount that they were charging for the work done. I never realized that this was waiving my rights in the event that they are in left field with the diagnosis. I guess if I needed a second mechanic to double check their diagnosis before signing, I would rather just use the other mechanic - the one that stands behind his work.

This is my second and final run in with Matthew's. During a previous visit, involving my other vehicle several months prior, my engine light turned on and the car was intermittently running rough. The engine light happened to turn off while I was driving it to them, but the car was still misfiring. When I had brought it in, they called later and said there wasn't a code stored and that it didn't run rough when they test drove it.

They then charged me $113. a) $113 to test drive, read a code (the code that auto parts places read for free), and do nothing? b) The engine light was on and eventually shut off. There had to have been a code stored if they had tried to read it. So, I'm out $500 and $113. If I can't get my money back, I can at least warn others of their shady practices. Stay away, find a more honest place.

Had a very bad experience there! Got ripped off on windshield wipers. Paid $191 in April and had a 12 month, 12,000 mile "warranty" on them but apparently they only fixed the "windshield wiper linkage" which was not a part of the warranty and then told me it would be $367 to fix the windshield wiper motor! Why wouldn't they just fix the motor to begin with?

Either way, they don't stand behind their work. Then they tried to charge me for diagnosing the issue WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A WARRANTY ON IT. Don't go there unless you have tons of money to piss away.

3 weeks ago I brought my son's Mini Cooper in for service as it had an idle problem and the check engine light is on. They said it needs a good tune up and new ignition coils and an oil change. Quote me over the phone when they called me for the go ahead a price in the upper $600's. I okay it. Get there later to pick it up, the price is over $900.

They cheerfully acknowledge that they told me the price was in the $600's and say that they didn't include a diagnostic charge and an oil change. Grrrr I pay it anyway. Next several days of driving, the idle problem returns and the check engine light pops on again. Call to make an for Friday Oct 4 as I had a day off. Drop the car off by 8am and.hearing nothing by 5pm I call them and yeah, they didn't work on it-they hadn't even looked at it.

They assure me it will be done today, Saturday Oct 4. They just called at 11:30am, and nope, they are NOT going to have time to look at it. So they assure me that Monday it will be done. I can't to find out on Monday if the third time will be the charm!

Have used other Matthews tires locations, no problem. Every time I come to this location ( Van Roy Rd )I sit for hours. Even for just an oil change, with an appointment, it's at least an hour. Very SLOW!

This is unfortunately the second time I have posted a bad review for these guys. Months back I was in for some issues which included my car making a sound when going over bumps, turning, etc. They didn't address it. After a bad review they brought me back in. Still never fixed my issue. They said everything looks great. Well, now a few months later the dealership says the ball joints are BAD. There's no way there wasn't some evidence of this at least starting when it was in with them.

A couple of years ago I had these guys do my breaks. They have squealed since day one. They said oh all breaks squeak when I brought it back that time. No they don't. Not like this. So I'm still driving with their squeaky break job. My husband just got back from having his master cylinder done there. We took his vehicle there on Saturday 6/24.

Today is Thursday 6/29. The vehicle was supposed to be done by Tuesday. Nope. Parts delayed. I'm waiting for my ball joints to come in at the dealership. The ones Matthew's saw nothing wrong with. So we had to chance it and take my car to Milwaukee for a few days. We get back today. Already it is ridiculous they had is told it was test driven. Really? Really?

Just admit either incompetent or nobody test drove it. He sits there a few hours while they bleed the breaks multiple times. He states he is dissatisfied and is given 10% off ($90 ish) off. Now, do you trust breaks done by a shop after an experience like this? As I write this a mechanic shows up at our door. He left his cell phone in our vehicle.

After 20 plus years and MANY thousand of dollars spent at Matthews. I FINALLY became tired of being treated like a inconvenience instead of a VALUED Customer! GOOD Job Rick(Mgr. of Van Roy store) for losing another customer!

I recently had an issue with some service that Matthews Tire had provided. There was a misunderstanding and we left feeling angry and disappointed with the encounter. After posting a review on Yelp I was contacted by Rick at Matthews and he was unaware of the situation but was very understanding and apologetic. He said he wanted to make the situation right and credited us for the work in question.

His customer service oriented attitude was great and restored my faith in Matthews Tire. It was apparent that he clearly cared and wanted our experience to be a positive one. I wish more companies operated in this manner. Thank you again Rick for righting the situation.

The customer service here is awesome. Exceptional work by their mechanics. If I had the opportunity to rate it 10 stars I would.

I have been using this location for the last 3 years. I always get quick responses to calls or emails. The service is normally pretty good. One time I had an issue with them breaking a part after an oil change. Once I went back and asked them about it they were prompt on righting their wrong. Overall I am happy with them and I continue to go back.

Matthews has always been my first place to go for my truck tires. When my van needed tires, I went there as well. I recommended them to a friend to go there even after he had clients that sued them for damage they had done. This friend and I purchased the same tires about a month or so apart from each other. He had gone in after the tires exhibited irregular wear and Mathew admitted the tire brand\model\lot had issues.

This prompted us to check our tires and so went to get our tires rotated, admittedly they were over due we were not expecting them to replace them in total. The service man recommended not rotating and that we shouild consider buying at least two new front tires. They provided a written esitmate which they would only prorate the front two since even though they had not been rotated, the wear was more than expected. Today, they are reneging on their written proposal (in my hand and within their system) and apparently no one there would have done that.

I have kids at home that do this all the time. A glass breaks but nobody did it. Right up there with cable companies and snake oil salesmen if you ask me. Rather than make the sale and meet the customer in the middle, they would rather drag their 'good' name through the gutter and risk losing further future revenue. Apparently these two guys weren't the 'management' and we have to wait till next week to see what they decide. I'll be looking for another location to build a relationship with if I don't see them povide some sort of concession and admit to their lack of reason.

They can get the job done but nothing I'm impressed with. Oil changes take upwards of an hour. Everytime the car comes out "everything is fine" with it. When I take it elsewhere they find things like a leaky transmission or breaks getting close to worn out. I also had a time where I knew my tires needed rotation as I could see it clearly. They didn't even notice. Not at all my first choice. I would say their service reps at the counter are very nice and professional. I think the problem lies with the quality of some technicians.
