Saved $2000 over what a dealer quoted for Honda CRV exhaust system replacement work, this month. Master Mechanics repaired failed parts rather replace entire system. We have taken several cars to Greg and his team for nearly 30 years. Friendly, helpful, honest, professional work is what we know we get every time we bring a car there for service, no matter what the problem. Highly recommend Master Mechanics!

Excellent work and very knowledgeable about Honda and Acura vehicles. They were able to do a clutch replacement on an older car for me and took the time to show me the work they did in the garage along with the original failed parts. They also did some other minor repairs that came up and were able to handle them while the car was disassembled to make it as efficient as possible. Definitely a great choice for Honda/Acura owners.

Just got my car back from Master Mechanics and Greg did a great job. My starter for my Honda Accord broke and I had to get it replaced which is not an easy fix. But in the morning I sent my car in, they ordered a part, got it repaired. ALL within one day which I'm very grateful for. The cost for parts and labor was expected but ultimately cheaper than other places I checked out. They also fixed my tail light, changed my oil, and fixed my tire pressures without me asking. Would definitely come back (knock on wood) if I had any more car issues.

Excellent work, they know how to repair Japanese cars. I never felt they were ever trying to do services that weren't necessary. Prompt as well!

I have relied upon Greg and his team to keep my cars running for over the last twenty years. I relied upon them to do the "new car" maintenance as recommended by the the manufacturer and in some cases an extra in-between service for oil & lubrication. I ran every car well over 150K miles and some over 220K. (Honda/ Toyota) Thank you;-)

We have been taking our cars here for two years or more. We are very happy with everything they have done. They tell us what they are going to do and how much it costs before they do it. We are very pleased that they are here in Natick.

Did an excellent brake job on my Corolla in September. Quoted about ~$100 less than the dealer, and took about 2 hours start to finish. So far the brakes have been working great: no noise or difference in handling. They use aftermarket parts but the quality is indistinguishable from OEM so far. Thanks for the great service!

Greg and Tom are honest and knowledgeable. Their shop is well known by the community in the area. Fair pricing and they run a tight operation. Brought multiple cars here both for repairs and maintenance service.

Have been taking our 05 Infiniti FX35 and 06 Toyota Avalon here for years. Greg and crew keep our cars going strong. This is the first time I've ever had a car that is 12 years old, and I am proud of these two cars. Master Mechanics are trustworthy and knowledgeable. Recommend them highly.

I could not have had a better experience here this morning. Details of my repair were straightforward and transparent. I received a quote from another place that was 8x the amount and included a lot of unessicairy work.

Reliable folks and reasonably priced. They would not ask you to do changes that are not really warranted. The location is walking distance from the Natick Station, so ideal for people to drop off and take the train. They are also good about giving estimates for time and price so you are in for no surprise. I would highly recommended them.

I appreciate the service that they give me. They always offer detailed explanations of what the problem with my car is. They leave it entirely up to the customer as to when things can get done. They are very honest about what needs to get done and the amount it will cost and looks to save me money whenever possible. i really appreciate their service and highly recommend them especially for those with foreign cars.

Great service! After trying a few other shops in town I found Master Mechanics and I have been very happy with them for several years. They have taken good care of my '04 Subaru and '07 Nissan and always seem fair and honest. Instead of pushing for unnecessary repairs like some shops they keep me updated by telling me that "next time the car comes in you should have your rear brakes replaced." The staff is friendly and also willing to help out when they can. Even though they don't do state inspections they let me drop off the vehicle, and then fix anything necessary and take it to get inspected for me. I highly recommend them.

Tired of feeling that I'm getting the 'spiel' at the Toyota dealership, which always results in more extensive repairs money than I was expecting, I decided to try Greg Casten's place, Master Mechanics Automotive, for my next repair. It was refreshing to hear 'it was just the [fill in the part]. I have taken my car to Master Mechanics at least 5 times for different types of service over the past 2 years, and have observed how thorough their work is, and how knowledgeable their staff is. I highly recommend this shop to those who value the investment they've made in their car and want to keep it in good shape without paying dealership prices.

I heard about this place through other people at work who also drive a Japanese car. I've been to Master Mechanics twice for maintenance and I love them so far. Greg and the other guys who work there are really nice and don't do the hard sell. They will tell you what's wrong and give you options. No upselling or scare tactics. If you drive a Japanese car - Subaru, Honda, Acura, NIssan, Mazda, Toyota, etc. - and don't want to use a dealership for your car repair, then you need to visit the guys at Master Mechanics.

Honda Accord: I wanted to like this place. But in 4 repair visit I feel I have been overcharged for parts & labor. I will now go somewhere else, before I'd go back

Just had my first oil change here. These guys are such a breath of fresh air! Straightforward, organized, efficient, and friendly to boot. I appreciate that they've got all the records computerized and that I get a print-out w/ all the details plus mechanic's notes. Update 7 years later: still love this place. They always tell me what's going on and give me options rather than trying to hard-sell the more expensive thing.

They even referred us to a Subaru specialist when there was a minor fuel line leak (reported by the computer) on our Subaru Forester that they couldn't isolate (and didn't charge us anything for the diagnosis). In comparison, the dealership simply told us that we needed to spend $1000+ to replace the whole fuel line.

I can't believe that Master Mechanics hasn't gotten the good graces of all Japanese car owners in the Natick area. I went here after hearing the all nice and praising things that my dad was saying about this place. My dad is no pushover when it comes to car maintenance, and he's been going here for years. I knew that my car needed a repair soon, but wasn't sure when.

So I called up and booked an appointment for an inspection for the next day. I arrive and this guy behind the counter is super-friendly and starts up a conversation with me. So we talk idly while my car gets the check-up treatment. The inspection was pretty quick (or maybe it was just me distracted as the time passed), but another mechanic walked in and handed him an invoice, which they discussed first for a minute and then he immediately showed to me, explaining each detail.

He told me EXACTLY how much time I had left to replace my axle (the major repair I knew about), and pointed out 2 other things I was unaware of: my rear tires were losing their life, but 1 of them could wait approximately 4,000 - 5,000 miles to be replaced, and the other one needed to be replaced ASAP. Those were his words exactly. I also discovered I had a minor oil leak.

I mention this because I've gotten the car inspected at another place, and they clearly missed it. He didn't bother to suggest I fix it, instead explaining that it was a 10 hour job for 10$ of labor. So, he offered alternatively that I could gauge the oil myself every so often. He even explained a long and complicated technical process that could occur if the C/V boot broke while driving, since I was curious (in case I waited one day too long, trying to save as much $ as possible).

No BS, just straight-up honesty and truth. No pressure to get anything done. He called up a tire store down the street and offered me a list of choices. I picked the Bridgestone Fuzion HRi. It's a good all-season tire, I'm happy with it. The tire came to 85, and he said with the labor, alignment/rotation and tax it'd be about $115 total.

I was quoted at $40 for an inspection, so I was expecting to pay $155. 30 minutes later, he finishes the tire and rings me up an invoice, including at the top a handy list of all the things the inspection said. The invoice was for $100. I was pleasantly surprised, paid and thanked him several times. Since then I've gotten the axle replaced, and it was for $160 less than what he originally quoted me for. I'll definitely be coming back as a regular. They've won my service.
