Since 1954, we have been providing the finest automotive and transmission repair services to our neighbors in Fort Wayne, Indiana and surrounding areas. We are located in Downtown Fort Wayne in close proximity to the "Electric Works" project. Our namesake, Jess A. Lewis, was a well-known and accomplished individual in the automotive community. He opened the doors to Jess Lewis Transmission in 1954.Prior to that, he was active in automotive transmission work since 1947. Jess Lewis had six automotive transmission patents to his name at a young age, as well as holding three Class A - Gas Experimental Dragster records.

Jess Lewis always does a good job on my vehicles at a price I can afford. I am now in the process of having them fix something another mechanic did wrong. They know what they are doing. I just wanted to update my review and give Jess Lewis even more praise. They just fixed the oil pan on my Nitro and it resolved the issue for about 60 bucks. Everywhere else wanted to charge 800 dollars or more. If you need your vehicle fixed you NEED to come here. They won't do you wrong and seem to genuinely care about giving the highest quality work at the lowest possible price.

The guys at Jess Lewis are honest fair and sadly a hard thing to come by in this world, an honest auto mechanic. After doing a diagnostic it was determined the majority of my issues were cosmetic and not necessarily issues that would keep me from being able to drive my car. They were able to identify all my issues and save me a lot of money in the process. They even text me when the job was done. Outstanding! We will be back!

I was given outstanding service over and above standard care. I was helped to understand how things were damaged and Dan helped me understand what to do to get help paying on the damage done by an accident not my fault. He calmed me down and gave me wonderful advice. They are my best repair shop now forever. So very nice to deal with.

It's not very often you find a Mechanic's shop that treats a female with respect, Jeff Lewis does! Walked in hoping I wouldn't need a new transmission in my vehicle. Unfortunately I did, but Paul was polite and very thorough explaining to me why I did. He gave me a quote for the work which was very very reasonable. I appreciate that they have early opening hours and that they diagnose your quickly. 5 out of 5 stars would reccomend them to everyone!

Took my 2002 jeep grand cherokee for a shift selinod and some one there put a ton of miles on it trash mud and cigarette packs in it along with deer hair and tickets from a children's museum in indy the time it was in there shop c all them and yes I was upset oh well never do business with them ever oh here's the best part its still not fixed

Was recommended Jess Lewis by a friend. My car started to struggle to gear effectively with no codes coming up, I'm not the most car savvy but do routine maintenance. I brought my car in and front desk said to give them ten minutes to check out what was up. Came back telling me I just needed more transmission oil, I already added some but was worried about overfill. He told me to try that out before coming back, didn't charge me, and he was correct too. 2 more quarts and it drove like a dream.

I cannot recommend this shop enough. I have a Mercedes-Benz which they were willing to work on my issue, and went above and beyond sourcing the correct parts saving me money in the process. If it takes more time then you expect please let me them do there work. When you get your car back it will complete and done correctly. Thanks Dan for all the help and good work.
