UPDATE AS OF MAY 13TH: HAD TO GET WORK THEY DID REDONE BY ANOTHER SHOP Short story: was overcharged DO NOT RECOMMEND Long story: I unfortunately had a tire leak and found out I had a nail in my tire when I checked. I figured I'm trying to find a nice repair shop close to home because it's hard to find a good reliable place now a days especially being a female.

I gave this place a call and they fit me in same day. Beautiful! Off to a great start! I dropped the vehicle off at the appointment time we set, I signed a form stating I pre authorized them to fix up to a certain amount. I thought this was nice! It allows them to fix small problems on the spot rather then calling, getting authorization and waiting for me to call back.

For a small amount of money this was nice for the both of us! I get it fixed quickly and they can continue with the flow of business. I received a call less then 50min later stating I had two nails and needed two patches but it was fixed and ready to be picked up! So far I love this place and was extremely impressed by the speed and friendliness of the staff.

Unfortunately when I arrived I was charged more then the preauthized amount I signed for and was not informed of this prior. I was charged wayyyy more then I ever had for a plug or a patch. I understand inflation happens but this was by far the MOST! Not only did they go over the amount I agreed to pay without a call but they didn't inform me it was over that amount until I was picking it up. (I use to work as a service writer at an auto shop) Update: ended up having to get my tire fixed at another shop as of May 13th because they didn't patch it properly! DO NOT GO HERE! OVER CHARGED AND HAD TO GET THE WORK REDONE!

My car broke down 45 minutes south of home and of course it was cold outside. After attempting to get a quick tow from my roadside service, I found Jake's Automotive on google. Joe F. was so helpful and even came to my rescue from the cold when his own tow truck would be a bit late. He also kept in contact with me, even after my car had to be sent to a dealership for major repairs. The secretary was also very nice.

This Auto Service has done a great job on my cargo van, I've dealt with Joe Fabian and he has been extremely helpful, very professional and highly knowledgeable. They've got a great team that you can rely on!

My car was shaking down the expressway and I was told to take my car to get an alignment or potentially new tires. So I took my car here as my mom recommended it to me and it was far and away the best experience I have had at an auto shop. Very professional, knowledgeable staff. Told me I needed a tire balance and showed me why. Also told them that I was leaving for school soon and they managed to fit me into their clearly busy schedule.

If you need your car repaired, skip the headache and frustration of going to Belle Tire or one of the other big guys- take your car here- you will not be disappointed. Oh and the best part- they won't charge you an arm and a leg. Additionally, the facility was VERY clean, waiting room with TV and refreshments. Very, very impressed

The staff and quality of work at Jakes is truly the best! They are honest, very reasonably priced, and do quality work! Every staff member is very professional and makes you feel valued as a customer.

I went in there yesterday with my check engine light blinking (come to find out that means it's serious) they told me unfortunately they were booked for a few weeks straight and apologized. I live 50 miles away and pleaded that they at least use their code reader to let me know if I can drive it home or spend hundreds to get it towed. They kindly took it back (although they were busy and booked) and let me know what was going on. Didn't expect a penny in return. That was a classy move. If they weren't so busy, I'd recommend them to anyone

My family had been loyal Jakes customers for many years but after this latest incident of blatantly overcharging us, I no longer trust them nor would I recommend them to others. Don't be fooled by the polite demeanor of the service desk team. Their sole focus these days is to bait customers in to paying endless diagnostics fees. Took our son's car in for once over before a long road trip. Paid $115 for a "detailed" vehicle inspection which included absolutely no diagnostics, what we got was a print out of a few obvious things wrong with the car which we already knew about.

They Identified that the car's washer fluid pump was not running but provided no explanation as to why. Similarly they noted the check engine light was on but had not connected a tech scanner or provide the OBD2 code causing the fault. In both cases they wanted to be paid to continuing performing additional diagnostics investigations. Disgusted, we Paid the bill and left. When we got home my son found the fuse for the windshield washer pump was blown. Hard to imagine how a certified mechanic would not have checked that first.

Joe, the owner of Jake's automotive is by far the most honest, trustworthy man I have possibly ever dealt with! He is a man of his word and produces exceptional work. Joe goes the extra mile to provide the best service to customers. Hands down, very impressed!

The best service ever! Staff is very friendly, and prices are reasonable. Thanks a lot to Chris Jager for helping us. During a work trip, my car had major fluid leakage and wasn't able to drive anymore. Within a few hours, they were able to take care of the car and get me back on the road!

Finally I have found a decent shop to take my truck for service. It is conveniently located within walking distance to work, but they actually repaired my vehicle correctly, at a fair price. The staff are knowledgeable and respectful and offer recommendations to help save money but not to sacrifice quality. Issues get quickly resolved. I will be returning for future service needs.

They will try anything to get more money out of you I strongly don't recommend coming to this shop I went in for an alignment after talkin on the phone with the service writer I was told a price of $115 then got a call that I'd be more and they wanted to install a bolt kit for the simple fact that it'd make there job easier but cost me $200 and if I didn't then they'd change me by the hour for an alignment I had to argue over three calls to get the price I was originally quoted and my truck still pulls hard right I drove the truck a few miles and my tire kicked in and destroyed the rim I called and told them they wanted $80 plus $4 a mile to tow me to there shop plus the fees to tell me what happened and give me nothing but excuses I ended up fixing it myself please be careful if you go here do your research and don't just drop your car off. Only good thing about this shop is there service writers are polite

Best tow experience by far! Didn't have to wait long for Doug at all and he was very quick once he got there. Everyone I interacted was not only informative, but friendly and helpful as well! If you're in a pinch and need a tow I definitely recommend giving them a call.

We have been in here numerous times in the past and spent thousands of dollars on 4 different vehicles here. feel free to go here if your work is simple. shocks, oil changes, maybe an alternator or tire. but don't take them anything that requires in-depth knowledge of vehicles. we found out how limited their skills really were when after spending thousands with them to fix our mustang (which they could not) and having to listen to one excuse after another. we found another shop that diagnosed the problem and fixed it in under an hour. Seriously disappointed in Jakes. they just want the quick cash, more interested in that, than in actually fixing our vehicle. will not go back.

I cannot say enough good things about Jake's Automotive. Nowadays you don't know where to take your car where they are truthful and honest. I took my car in for a star problem and had been told it was probably an alternator. I was given a quote for over 500 dollars for parts and labor. I few hours later Jim called me and told me it was only a loose bolt that didn't turn the alternator.

My bill was a bit over $200. Being a single, working mom and a woman you always worry about being taken advantage. Someone else could have even til me that they put in a new alternator, charged me and not done it and I never would have known. I would tell anyone to take their care here. I would give them a ten if I could.

Took a used car there to be inspected before buying and they did a thorough inspection. Would go back again

Jake's Automotive helped me out in a pinch and did a GREAT job! I was working in the area (from out of town) and had a flat tire. AND my spare was leaking as well. Without benefit of an appointment, they worked me into their schedule and completed the repairs even earlier than promised. If I ever have any automotive needs in the Auburn Hills area, I will not hesitate to contact Jake's.and to recommend others do the same. Thanks so much!

So far so good. They fixed my ac and did some oil changes. Plus they have a reward card system with friend referrals. I'm hoping this place will be a regular shop for my car.

Unfortunately, I had another automotive issue so of course I went back to Jake's Automotive due to the superb service I had initially received. I was a bit anxious but I knew I was in good hands. So to make a long story short I set an appointment for today at 10 am. I got there at 9:50 am. They pulled my car in at 10 am. Right! Then they proceeded to diagnostically test my car with a fine tooth comb.

Throughout the process, Aaron keep me informed. After about an hour I was given the final assessment which turned out to be good news. Not only did I receive prompt professional service but was given a discount coupon on an already reasonable bill. I just can't say enough. It's worth the drive if you don't live in the area. They respect their customers. You get quality service at a fair price. That's hard to find. Thanks again Jake's Automotive. Ms. King

On our daughter's trip to Pontiac from Chicago battery needed to be replaced. Sure enough. Robert from Jake's came to the rescue not only with terrific service but great information for her car needs. Thanks Robert. She be using Jake's for sure!

Outstanding high-quality, good-price service! I recently bought my kid a used car and the good folks at Jake's did a complete inspection. After Ibought the car, I returned to Jake's for servicing and addressing the items from the inspection. There is no reason to go anywhere else -- go to Jake's

My husband and I both take our cars to Jake's on Opdyke and have for many years. They are extremely competent and we appreciate their honesty. Jim and Joe who work the front desk are very helpful - they treat their customers like family. Would highly recommend them.

Good service from people who earn your trust. We had several repairs done at this site over several years because of their fairness and honesty. One time they checked our car for noise, and they found nothing wrong and did not even charge us an inspection fee. They repaired/replaced the clutch on our truck, and did great work at a reasonable price. I would go back, but wish they had Saturday opening hours.

I came in here after I hit a curb. They're were nice to talk to at first and as the other review says good about contacting you before they did work on the vehicle. But then when I came in and looked at what they replaced they changed both wheels and tires on my passenger side and when I asked why they were struggling to tell me why. I asked for a visual inspection and one wheel and tire looked perfectly fine and they said that moving the tire from a bent rim to a straight rim "might" cause a bubble in the side wall.

And that the one rim was "kinda wobbling" on the tire balance. So they doubled the price of the work for a "kinda" and a "might". BE CAREFUL, THEY WILL TRY TO DO MORE WORK THAN NECESSARY IN ORDER TO MAKE MORE MONEY. Next bad part was that when I got in my rearview mirror had been messed with and when I went to move it i noticed it was broken. I went inside to talk to them about it and the manager said "sorry but if a part breaks while we have your vehicle we're not responsible because the part would have broken eventually by someone else".

So they would not replace my mirror no matter what and eventually the manager just threw $20 on the counter and said here that should cover it. BE AWARE THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY IF SOMETHING BREAKS WHILE THEY HAVE YOUR VEHICLE.

I took my car to Jake's for what I self-diagnosed as a wheel bearing replacement. Jake's staff was very friendly in helping me determine where the sound coming from my wheel was origninating from. Only $40 to diagnose and they called me before they replaced it. I was very pleased with their customer service and knowledge of auto issues. My car is running very smoothly now.
