Ithaca Foreign Car Service was started in 1974 by Dave Allen, Dave Brumsted, and Dan Ryan. The first shop was located on North Cayuga St in what is now a laundromat. After a year or two Dan decided to pursue other interests, and left Dave and Dave to carry on. Dave Allen "retired" in 1992, after many, many years of working on cars, to devote more time to being a gentleman farmer. Due to the large amount of business at the shop, Dave Allen was pressed back into action in 1995 and can still be found at the shop a few times a week.
Services
In addition to selling clean used Volvo cars, our factory trained technicians can provide almost any kind of service or repair needed on your Volvo, from a light bulb or an oil change to an engine or transmission replacement. We do not do body work or windshield replacement, but we can point you towards people we feel are the best in those areas, just ask us.

Steve Manos helped me buy my car. I am always nervous when buying cars because there is so many options choosing what one to get and what price range I can do. Steve was so relaxed with me and made me feel so comfortable when choosing my car. He made me feel confident in the car I was choosing. I would by far recommend him to anyone buying a car. Tried to charge me $108 for an inspection and didn't check any codes. Said that was $200/hr for the "full inspection". Had to haggle w/ the manager for a half hr but he offered $25 back and finally we agreed on $50 back. Can not convince me you did a professional, "expert" check up on a vehicle but you didn't even thick the computer or engine. That's what ppl come to the Volvo dealership for idk

Just wondering why I couldn't get an appointment to replace a safety recalled airbag until August, 2022 (8 MONTHS from today) at Maguire but scheduled an appointment, that same day, for January 12, 2021 (ONE MONTH from today) at another dealership. And that was after the service rep explained that other dealerships probably had a similar wait time.

Smoothest experience I've ever had buying a car. Steve Manos was very helpful and made the entire process seamless and concise. Traded in my old car and had that whole extra process taken care of for me. Overall, I don't think I will ever go through all of the hassles that usually arise when car shopping, now that I see it does not have to be that way. Very happy and satisfied with both the sales team (especially Steve) and my new XC40.

Phil Humphries SOLD us our Volvo. We had visited EVERY car dealer between Ithaca and Rochester; and drove every compact SUV available, including Mercedes, Lexus, and BMW. We went back to Maguire to test the Volvo as a last resort - we wanted a safe, comfy SUV, but I never cared for the LOOK of Volvos, so this was our last stop. While the Volvo basically sold itself, it was Phil that made the experience very enjoyable.

In the span of about 6 weeks, we had encountered 20+ sales personnel at other dealerships. We couldn't believe the lackluster attitude of many of them. We could only imagine how tough it would be to sell a vehicle that wasn't even on the lot-and may not be for weeks, but Phil was so excited to show us how the Volvo XC40 was exactly what we were looking for -and it was.

Stopped in to ask about purchasing some volvo rims for the volvo I just bought from them used. I noticed the rims on the car are the wrong size so wanted to see if they would maybe discount the price of some new rims that are the proper size. They basically laughed in my face. Then when I was leaving said " good luck with your car" sarcastically. I felt like thanks for buying a car now we want nothing to do with you. NEVER will I go back there or recommend anyone to go there.

First time owner of a Volvo. I was not sure which door to use. A polite gentleman asked if I needed help. I did. He directed me where to take my Volvo for service. The service and the mechanics that serviced my car was through. The customer service representative answered all my questions. Very help and amiable.

Very easy to work with. No games. Straightforward. Best pricing on my new Volvo compared to other Volvo dealers. By far, the best offer for my five year old trade in. The dealer worked hard to get this customer the lowest rate for financing. My hat's off to my salesman, Brad, and his cool sales manager, Rick. Honest dealership, hard working. Don't waste your time going to those larger dealers in central and western NY. This is the place you want to do business with! Drove from Rochester for this great deal and dealership!
