In an age in America where talk is of large corporations seeming to "swallow up the little man, " we are fortunate in our area to still boast mainstays from our past. These businesses have maintained tradition and our sense of feeling at home. But the question remains: How does a family-owned business survive while the city around us grows and changes?
According to a recent story in USA Today, more motorists are keeping their current vehicles instead of purchasing new ones, because of the uncertain economic environment. However, recent Car Care Council survey results indicate that 80 percent of all vehicles inspected during 2008, needed repairs or maintenance.
All our work will meet the highest quality standards. We will not use inferior parts or tolerate shoddy workmanship. We will stand behind every job we do. Parts and labor will be warranted for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. In some cases, the warranty will exceed these limits and such information will be clearly indicated on the repair order.

We took our car here for an inspection of the water pump. The inspection price was never communicated to us. We received a quote to replace the water pump at ~$800, even though average replacement cost in labor should be around ~$500. Prior, we had received a quote from Famous Automotive at $270. We notified them of this to negotiate to a fair price, however, the response was swiftly, "go see them then." Upon arriving to pick up the car, they charged a $75 inspection fee that we never agreed to, and the front desk said, "They don't work for free" 1.
The shop doesn't know how to handle negotiation without being rude. It's almost like they've forgotten that they have competition, and that kindness goes a long way. 2. If we knew they were going to charge $75 for the inspection, we wouldn't have shown up. Expectations could be set better.

They are a family owned place and they really stand behind the work. I was going to Pep Boys on Lane Ave but they had gone downhill in my opinion so I was looking for somewhere new. I remembered I had gone to Hugh's when the father was still the owner. Now I think it is the son and his wife that run the business. They are awesome and highly recommended.

Fair honest and reliable. small town feel in the middle of Riverside. You definitely can not go wrong at this place I have been in to this shop 3 times in the past 1.5 years and each and everytime it is a score of 12 out of 10. Knowledgeable, fair, honest couldnt ask for anything else. Again this is like a small town corner shop in small town USA where I have been many times in my life. It just feels right, and it is always a great feeling to have trust in and be treated fairly from you repair shop. 10000% reccomend.

These people do excellent work. They're honest and upfront about everything, taking the time to make sure you understand, providing clear and helpful estimates before the work. I've brought three different vehicles to them and each time they've charged less than what was estimated by other shops. They've even come to my workplace to pick up a set of keys from me, saving me a trip. Eric is a great guy maintaining a high standard of integrity; I don't think I'll be going to any other shop anytime soon. Keep up the great work!

I normally do majority of work on my vehicles. Especially my 02 Ranger (my baby) Lately I've had to rely on some of the local shops to help me with the work. Hugh's came highly recommended from the engine builder I used. They definitely didn't disappoint. Eric (owner) was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was straight with me and knew exactly how to fix the problem with the transmission lines that I was having issue with. Great job. If I'm ever in a bind or just want proffessional help, I'll be back here.
