As I sat at a red light the other day, I flicked on the wipers to clean my windshield. They did a pitiful job. I made a mental note to change them before the rainy season, and realized there might be other things I need to do to get the car ready for winter. I ran it by my husband, Mike, and he said that he tells his customers there are five items that need to be checked before winter: wipers, tires, battery, lights, and coolant.

Helming's has been great. We found them through some referrals and now we take all of our vehicles there. They are quick, honest, and reasonable. I have *never* felt like work was done that was not needed, a quality in a repair shop that all should value. Helming's has gone out of its way to make me feel like a valued customer, and I am very happy to recommend them. I don't write a whole lot of reviews, but I can happily say that I fully endorse their shop.

I took my car in for an expected oil change (I drive it very little) and they could not get the car to start! They found a problematic fuel relay and replaced it the same day. They even determined that I could wait another six months before changing the oil. so I did not get charged unnecessarily. I could not ask for more from an auto repair service; I am thrilled with their professionalism!

I brought them my beat up '94 Camry with 200k+ miles. She was having a lot of problems, and I threw a huge list at them. They performed a thorough inspection and told me what they recommended in order of safety, then longevity. The service was ridiculously fast. Tim is extremely present over the phone, unlike many of the other mechanics I have been to. The pricing is also very reasonable. The advice they gave me was focused on affordability and longevity. I will be bringing this car back to them and highly recommend them.

While getting tires changed at another shop they indicated that I needed costly additional work. I got a second opinion at Helming's and they indicated that it was NOT a safety concern and waiting until later would NOT incur additional damage or increase the cost of doing the work later. What a blessing to have honest people in the auto maintenance business!

This place is great - super honest, fast, and caring service. They've twice helped me with a minor issue for no charge - including the very first time I came in. They are attentive and willing to fit you in if they can and make sure you can have your car back asap. When they tell you the problem, it feels like a collaborative discussion about what actually needs to get done vs what you can afford or vs what could wait - instead of being told you MUST get this fixed. I have a lot of trust in their opinion and can tell that they maintain their client base by building up that trust. Plus sometimes there's a little dog there.

Great service both at the counter and via phone, email, and text. Diagnosed and fixed front disc brake problem and did an overall safety check on my Honda Accord. Reported some issues and thoughtfully reviewed which needed attention now and which could wait. If you value unhurried conversation about your car and quality products this may be shop for you. Repairs done on time and I was kept updated.

Our 2001 Suburban hadn't been in for a safety check because of Covid, so we took it in and they checked everything (that's what the safety check is for, to find anything on your car that that needs fixing &/or is about to break). Thankfully, they discovered that the battery was just about dead. It was close to five years old, so it was ready and due for replacement Note to anyone reading this; if you ever, especially in the winter time, get in your car and it cranks really slowly but then starts, do not pass go, do not collect $200, go get your battery replaced immediately.

You may not get a second chance to start it. If you do, consider yourself lucky. There was also a cracked air conditioning belt, and the high mount third brake light had quit working. Plus, they look at the recommended maintenance from the manufacturer, so there's a bunch of stuff that you would expect on a four-wheel-drive vehicle that's 20 years old.

But like any good mechanic, they'll tell you which things you should do immediately and what can wait so that you can budget for it. In our case, the "really should do now" were the 3 items mentioned above - each of these being at the least an inconvenience, and at the most, getting pulled over and receiving a fix it ticket for the brake light not working, or getting stranded somewhere because your car won't start, or worse yet, needing the front windshield defroster because it's all fogged up but it doesn't work and now you can't see to drive!

We've been going here for a long time, perhaps even 20 years as I think about it. It is really nice when you can trust your mechanic! It just gives you peace of mind! I can't recommend them highly enough.

Great customer service! Very kind staff. I went this time to get my license plates installed, but I will definitely be returning for all my future auto related concerns. Would highly recommend.
