I have lost count of how many years I've been associated with this great group of guys. Honesty and Integrity are their hallmark; two traits that are rare in this day and age. My friend and brother from another mother, remains God's gift to Jeep owners. Bobby D

Ewing towing company is the worst place ever to go. I was towed from parking in my own apartment lot, and the service was extremely unpleasant and rude upon my arrival. I was unable to make it before 5 pm as I had class and could not get a ride, so I had to wait until later when they were closed and came the next day, only to be greeted with a nasty, dirty man who was overly rude and not understanding.

I will never recommend this place to anyone for any of their services, and I hope they are out of business sooner than later for the sake of the city of Newark and its residents. I would give 0 stars if I could, absolutely terrible experience.

Coming here and seeing the other poor reviews about Ewing Towing & Auto Repair is not surprising in the least. Both times I have had the misfortune to interact with this company, Ewing Towing & Auto Repair, I was met with deceit. Over the phone, I asked them the price to release my vehicle to me the following day. I was given that price. I made a point, immediately, to ask directly, ". and to be sure, that'll be the price to pick it up tomorrow, yeah?

Because I won't be picking it up until then." I was told "Yep, that's the price factored in for picking up tomorrow." (I had a similar encounter two years prior with the same issue of price swapping. That time it worked because I wasn't sure if I had misheard their pricing or some other fault of my own. But this latest time, with the previous in mind, I was ready and alert for it.) I arrive the following day as discussed with the amount I was told I would need to release my vehicle.

When I entered their office to begin the transaction, the corpulent gentleman behind the counter took the description of my vehicle from me to which he replied, ". That doesn't sound familiar. I'm not sure. if we have that. lemme see." To his credit, he at least did begin to finger through the carbon-copy pad of paperwork. After a minute, he hadn't found it so I chimed in that the gentleman I spoke with on the phone had identified it himself from my description and found the paper work so maybe if he were around we could figure this out.

This was ignored. He then asked where it was towed from and I gave the address and he told me he doesn't think they tow from there. I told him they do and I have an email from my complex's manager telling me Ewing Towing & Auto Repair is the service they use. Then my paperwork was found. He tells me the total is $50 dollars more than I was told it would be.

I brought this up, that the gentleman I spoke with yesterday on the phone told me the price of releasing my vehicle specifically today, the day after the phone call. The zaftig man behind the counter I have been dealing with at this point adopts a tone of annoyance and defense, telling me the days of the week and how he figured the price based off what today is and when it was towed.

Through some speaking over each other from both our ends, I tell him, I do not doubt he came to his pricing in a specific way, but since the gentleman I spoke with the previous day did the same thing and came to a much different price, I would be interested in hearing from him at the same time to see who did the pricing correctly and who was incorrect.

The rotund man stops, looks behind me and to the side to a man I presume also works there, and suddenly, he crosses off his price and writes down the price I was told. "Well, I guess we can let it go for [price I was told]. So as to what occurred here? I believe Ewing Towing & Auto Repair knowingly and willingly engaged/engages in Bait and Switch tactics.

I believe this to be true. It was not the first time it's been done to me and I doubt I'm the only one it has been done to. Why did his story change when he glanced at the other guy? Was he higher up and gave him the ok to agree to my number? Is he the gentleman I spoke with the day prior? Who was actually correct in their pricing? Who was wrong? At the end of the day it comes down to professionalism, and this is something I've received neither of the times I've been to Ewing Towing & Auto Repair.

They are inconsistent with pricing and that's the biggest strike I can think of. Ewing Towing & Auto Repair is rude and dishonest. The moment you step out of the cookie-cutter set of responses of a standard transaction, the global man behind the counter becomes very irate and disrespectful. This I've experienced both times I've interacted with Ewing Towing & Auto Repair.

If you can help it, I advise against doing business with Ewing Towing & Auto Repair. Edit: The gentleman I dealt with in person at the office wore a shirt bearing the name 'Rock'. I doubt that's his real name.

2 1/2 weeks ago I had my truck towed to these guys ( blown motor) and at first I was little skeptical due to the fact i have never personally had any work done by them Also this was at all not a small job. well I was quickly reassured after my father had told me they have always done quality work with all his vehicles he's taken to them. These. guys worked tirelessly and cut no corners to ensure my new motor was installed properly and with care, I can't thank the guys down at the shop enough for all there hard work. my truck is running better then she ever has, I will be taking my business to Ewing's every time and will recommend them to anyone. If anyone needs work done give them a call you will not be disappointed

Towed our vehicle from a spot in a retailer's lot. retailers tried to correct the illegal tow and Ewing's refused to return the money. Bad business and bad attitude from the d***head in the front office. also made us walk through their icy and unsafe lot to retrieve our vehicle ( that was there for a whole 10 minutes)

This is under the legal name of Cox Reilly Inc. a Delaware Corporation, file number 2446659. The guy who goes by the fake name "Rock" in the office is really Kevin J. Cox the principal. They charge different rates for towing and storage verify before ordering a tow. Don't waste your time in JP court go higher. Cox is the "form 50" rep in JP it won't cost him a dime to fight you in JP.

My car was towed from the Villas Apartment on Wednesday morning at 3am because supposedly I was park in a fire lane. There was no sign that specifies that it is a fire lane because people park there all the time and it just had to be my car that park in that spot Tuesday night and get my car towed at 3am from Ewing Towing. The Manager Rock that I spoke to was rude and extremely unprofessional.

I don't know why he is a manager because he has no customer service skills nor does he have people skills. He was disrespectful to me over the phone and in person. For example, he got mad because he said I don't take debit or credit cards, I only take cash. I have never been to a towing company that doesn't take debit or credit cards.

Then Manager Rock proceeded to yell at me and said well I told you over the phone, cash only. I told him you didn't say cash only to me and I held my composure and walk out of the store to the ATM. He charge me $170 for the tow and $40 a day for storage. Who does this, does he not know the world is in the middle of a money crisis because of COVID-19, this is ridiculously.

Oh and the first time I talk to him I told him well why didn't he just give me a warning and he said, if I gave out warnings I wouldn't be able to put fuel in my truck. He never could tell me why he charge me $170 over the phone nor in person. What is the world coming to? Ewing Towing, if you want more business you need to hire another manager or a customer service rep to answer your phone line.

I will never return to this place again. They will try and nickle and dime you for everything- including charging extra for credit cards (which I believe is against Visa's terms of service). The staff was also unprofessional. I seriously doubt the morality of this shop.

I had an incident where i parked my car in a lot on Friday evening while out to dinner. the sign in the lot stated parking exclusive for residents and customers. the sign did not state numbered parking spaces were not to be parked in. I called the towing company I didn't get the persons name but he definitely told me he was the manager. I asked him if he had my car and explained the sign in which he rudely responded "its common courtesy"!

He told me it would cost $100.00 to get my car where to pick it up and rudely hung up on me. Went to pick up my car. Paid the 100 in cash yes the "manager" did apologize but in reality that is not how you do business. Especially when you can see the sign clearly does not have exclusions to where you cant park. Keep the cash its obvious you needed it more than me. thanks

This company definitely NO GOOD! They are predators and scam artists! I walked into Burger King for 5 minutes, came out and my Jeep was on a tow truck. My Burger King cup in hand. I was told I could have it back for 40 dollars. I had no choice but to pay. It's rattles my nerves a bit to know someone was sitting there watching my every move. This. is ridiculous and needs to STOP!

I have been sitting here this morning reading what people are saying about this place, its sad and everyone seems to say the same thing. I keep reading the word. Predator. This is sad and needs to be stopped. I will be contacting the BBB and Channel 6 abc troubleshooter, this problem needs investigated and something done!

Received the absolute worst customer service today at Ewing towing while picking up my towed vehicle. To be fair, I don't even know if you can call the lack of respect that I received from the desk manager customer service. *The tow was reasonable, as I was parked inappropriately, and I completely accept that. * Everything went downhill when I had to interact with "Rock" at the front desk.

He treated me like trash, called me petty names (told me my face was stupid ), and tried to make me retrieve my own receipt out of the garage! The facilities were dirty, employees clearly disgruntled, and from their 1/5 star review on yelp, it's clear they treat all their customers in the same manner. I would never take my car here for real service, not even to change my windshield wiper fluid!

I have dealt with this company multiple times because I keep making the same mistakes but that's beside the point their customer service is utterly fucking horrible literally had a guy take someone's payment to get their car dropped using a credit card for 150 drop fee, but wouldn't take mine even though he said he would take my credit card he stated that he made a mistake but he wasn't supposed to do that but now he can't make an exception for me I call bullshit the other person was a man and I am a women.

Literally in my pajamas with no shoes on taking stuff out of my car while watching them tow my vehicle but he made an exception for that one guy but didn't make an exception for me. To me it seems that he didn't expect the second person's car that they were towing (mine) to come out; and It was willing to cut a deal for the guy, Because he knew he was guaranteed a one car for towing for training purposes. JERK.

Now I have to pay 170, why is it 170 when I have paid 145 in the past.and before that 130. They are a scam artist ripping people off left and right. And that front desk person Rock or whatever his name. Last time I was there he literally laughed in my face and said that he was going to use this money for his Florida trip I will never forget something like that being told to me while I'm paying to get my car back this company is utterly horrible.

I had the most horrible experience at this shop. I am a single mom who is on a strict budget so every dollar counts so they wanted to put OEM in my older SUV and then when I told them where I ordered the part from they said"make sure you double check that the part is in stock bc we ordered the same part from summit and it took 3 weeks to get it (but you wanted to sell me OEM parts) Then I was quoted one price and when I came to pick up my car it was a completely different price ( like $70 more) then the guy at the desk Rock provided me the worst customer service.

I bought my own part and the moment I got there he proceeded to tell me that the part was junk and that he would have never put that in the car. I researched the part before I bought it and found no bad reviews AT ALL! so that should have been a red flag, so I paid the extra money and drove my car I was about halfway home and I heard a loud sound and then my car was vibrating.

I called the shop on my way home to advise of the noise and vibration and Rock proceeded to say "I told you that was a cheap part but if you want to bring it down here we can take a look at it" with a miserable attitude. When I got home I proceeded to get under the car and found there was a slice in the rubber boot and brand new grease sprayed all over under my car.

I called Rock the next day and proceeded to tell him about the slice and he said I told you we don't warranty when the customer buys the part, and that is fine I understand that if the part fails that is on me but not when the part was damaged. I asked him if the part was damaged why did they install it on my car he stumbled over his words and said they couldn't see the boot I was able to see the boot and the tear why couldn't they?

Rock is just a miserable human being and I wouldn't trust my mom or my grandmother to go there. At the end of the day I took my car to 896 Shell and Anthony took great care of me and I would trust sending my mom or grandmother there.

My mom has been using them for years and they take great care of her. I recently used them a car I bought, the dealer did not put on the tag plate on the front of my car. I needed an oil change and they also put my tag plate on as well. Great service and they are very friendly!

Made a poor mistake and parked my car where it wasn't supposed to be. They were really nice guys, didn't charge me extra even though I picked it up halfway through another day. Got my car back easy, no damage whatsoever. Cost me a few, but definitely deserved it. My advice: don't park your car where it doesn't belong and try and use other people's property as your personal parking lot. And if you do, these guys won't abuse you for it. 10/10 would get towed by these guys again

I parked in a lot designated for both residents of an apartment building and customers of businesses attached to the lot. I was the latter in this situation. There was a sign that read "PARKING RESERVED FOR THE EXCLUSIVE USE OF RESIDENTS AND CUSTOMERS ALL OTHERS WILL BE TOWED AWAY AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE - EWING TOWING" That's all well and fine.

I can read a sign. The lot was pretty full, so I didn't realize that some of the spots were numbered and some were not. The numbered spots are apparently designated for the "RESIDENTS" listed on the sign; however, there was no indication that numbered spots were exclusively for residents anywhere in the lot. When one of the shop workers noticed the tow truck, my sister was hailed out of the business before my car left the lot to try to stop the driver.

Despite making eye contact with the driver and fervently waving her hands, he sped off with my car to ensure the tow. When we called the company to follow up, they were short and apathetic. The rep on the other end said that he can't expect his drivers to know that someone trying to flag them down was "the owner of the car." Fantastic business man, that one.

When I got to the lot to pick up my car, I tried explaining to the man behind the desk that the sign was misleading. If the spots were only for residents, then it should explicitly say so without mentioning "customers." He told me that I clearly don't know how to interpret a sign and that's not his problem. He also said that the business should have warned me. Well, they didn't and I'm sorry for not being clairvoyant.

When I started arguing with him, especially because the tow was completely unreasonable, he threatened to keep my car, increase the cost of release, and call the cops. Just to put this situation into perspective, I'm a petite female, and the man who felt "threatened" by my arguing was easily three times my weight. I explained that I wasn't from the area, and he responded with a "thank god because we don't want you here." Beautiful. The short of it: I paid $102 dollars to reclaim my car after parking in a spot that was poorly labelled by a crooked towing company.

If I could give less than one star I would. Like most people who gave one star reviews, my car was towed from the Burger King lot on Main Street. You know as much as that irritates me I understand, you need a permit or whatever, I should've read the signs, all that. This should be a review for Burger King too, honestly, because the way they treated was no where near acceptable.

I walked in there very angry, like anyone who doesn't know where their car is would be. NOBODY would even tell me who the hell took my car. Where my property was at remained a complete mystery. After 30 MINUTES of poking around trying to ask the right people who the hell took my car I finally got a name. So I called Ewing towing, and talked to the most unsocial and rude man I have ever talked to.

A gas station bathroom has more hospitality then this man. I had to wait 2 and a half hours for him to come back so I could pay 103 dollars just to get my care. Yeah, 103 dollars for parking in a Burger King parking lot. It much more I can say besides, if you ever get in the situation I did, I pray you're able to keep your patience because that day really did test me.

WORST of the WORSE that's what this company is. They're thieves plan and simple. My brand new vehicle was parked in my mother's driveway and after visiting with her I went outside and it was gone. I called the New Castle County police to report it stolen! That's how I found out it was towed - when I went to pick it up they were beyond rude and when I asked why it was towed they stated "because the back of the vehicle was hanging in the street." That's ridiculous - but I paid on my credit card to get my new car back.

Then I reported the issue to the credit card company to dispute the charges. Ewing wrote and stated the reason was it was parked in the street. Such liars Ewing Towing is. I'll be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and my CC company. They need to be shut down for such horrible and illegal business practices. Unreal!

Can you give less than 1 Star? I'm sure that working at a towing company is stressful and filled with pissy people that want their cars back. Of course I feel like my story is different. My car got towed. Acceptable. Apparently the condo association that I live in has Ewing drive around late at night and look at cars tags, if they are expired, they tow you. Sucked to be me.

So when I called Ewing to find out why my car was towed, the person I spoke with was less than unhelpful. He started with an attitude with my wife (5 month's pregnant so that lasted about 30 seconds), then she handed me the phone. I asked the cranky Ewing employee why they towed our car and he copped an attitude. He tried to explain the process and when I had questions for him and tried to completely comprehend why I was towed, he became very short and aggressive that I still had questions about his how things worked.

To say his was unhelpful would be an understatement. I was just trying to learn something new and definitely didn't want to have it happen again but he had apparently spent his 90 seconds allotted per customer. Another thing, before hanging up the phone, the employee said that payment was required and that if we chose to use credit card, there would be a $3.00 fee. Upon arrival, they said they would accept no payment other than credit card. I see what you did there. Not a surprise the company starts with Ew. Avoid at all costs.

Every time I have an issue with my car (which is more often than I'd like seeing as she's 12 years old) Rock is extremely accommodating and the service is always timely! The guys here can literally do anything, from oil changes to electrical issues to replacing parts on the interior, a fantastic full service team!

We got towed for being in a Burger King parking lot, which we didn't know was not allowed considering their was one sign we didn't pass. We asked the employees inside if they towed us, they said they didn't and to check the sign outside. After looking for it, we called the number and left a message and took a lyft to the address. We waited for an hour no car, he wouldn't call me or the other people we were with back. It was a terrible experience.

The other reviews for this business are focused on the towing aspect of the business. Mainly how their vehicle was towed. I'm offering feedback on them as an autos hop. Originally, I went to a different auto shop and they hooked the computer to my car and said a sensor was to be replaced and to fix it would be $250. That's a lot of money.

So to do a price comparison we took it to Ewing. They hooked the computer up to it and said the same thing except they were going to charge $335. I said no thanks well come pick it up because the other place will do it for $250. Then ROCK at Ewing says okay if you pay us an $85 diagnostic fee. Then you can take it to them. I'm amazed at how they strong armed me into making me fix the car for a higher price.

Eventually he said there was a discount and it was $294. They did not tell us there would be an $85 fee if we don't use them. That's wrong and deceptive and the previous mechanic never did that. I've never heard of that. They may have gotten the money out of us now. But they lost a customer for life.

This place is a shit show. Very unprofessional, rude and unorganized bunch. Every last one is a crook. My car was in an accident and Ewing was called to tow my car. The guy said he would estimate the cost of repairs on my vehicle at no cost. A few days later he said it would cost 7000 to fix plus 100 for his estimation fees. Needless to say I didn't get it fixed from them.

My actual mechanic replaced 2 parts under a grand and the car has been running for a year since the incident. As far as their towing busines.these guys are a menace to all the students at UoD. Absolute jackasses

If I could give no stars I would. They towed my car from my parking spot because some random person called in thinking it shouldn't be there. in the spot I pay for. They refused to release my vehicle to me unless I paid them and told me I had to take it up with the person who called it in (but also refused to tell me who that was). I'm a single parent who had just moved to the area with no family or friends near by so I became very upset that I wasn't going to pick my son up from school on time.

The "men" (more like childish bullies) began saying "boo-whoo! Waaa! Oh too bad so sad!" mocking my concern over my kindergarten aged son and said that I deserved it. Awful people to deal with.
