Eureka Brake & Automotive is a family-owned and operated auto repair facility serving Humboldt County drivers for nearly 30 years. Our owner, Steve Cunningham, was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug at an early age, inspired by both his father and grandfather who were not only automotive technicians but also shop owners who built their businesses from the ground up.
At Eureka Brake & Automotive, we offer a full range of auto repair and maintenance services for Humboldt County drivers. Steve has owned Eureka Brake & Automotive since 1988 and has worked in the auto industry for 32 years. His interest began while working at his father's shop from the age of 11 years old.
Steve and his wife Lacee have 2 daughters, Mallory age 15 and Marissa age 13. They enjoy family outings such as boating at Trinity Lake and snow skiing at Mt. Shasta and Bachelor. Steve also likes to go dirt bike trail riding with friends. Steve is a member of the Arcata Masonic Lodge, Redwood Shrine Club, Ingomar Club and is a board member of the Kneeland Volunteer Fire Department.

I've been having issues with the brakes in my truck not feeling responsive, so I brought it in to see if they could figure out what was wrong. They performed a full inspection, adjusted the rear drum brakes, performed a brake system flush/bleed and recommended replacing the front rotors and pads due to glazing caused by high brake temps. I will be doing the pads and rotors myself, but even after the adjustments and bleed they performed my brakes feel way better, more responsive and less squishy. Service was top notch.

I was walking by and stopped in to ask about parts and repairs! I met one of the mechanics who by the way was so very helpful and pleasant! He knew exactly what I was asking about and of course gave me professional advice! If your in need this is one place I would say to take your automotive need here!

Hello We live in Southern Humboldt, We're always in need of more services in our community.appointments, here, are sometimes weeks in advance. We've had the need to use Eureka Brake and Automotive 3 or 4 times. Not only, were we told to come in early the next day, but from the front desk to the service managers/ mechanics. We were always given clear and concise information on our cars, cost, future maintenance needs and keeping us quickly informed with new discoveries, .Even though the drive is almost 70 miles to Eureka, We going to schedule more visits to Eureka Brake and Automotive. Eureka Brake & Automotive is not only professional & courteous when you call them, they get your car in usually within a day. I've always had a good interaction with whomever I'm dealing with & recently the mechanic who worked on my car went out of his way to help reduce the costs of back to back problems that occurred on two consecutive weeks. I thought that was so kind, as he didn't have to mention it.
The fact they are willing to work with you is really important, the service is 5 star & I've never had a negative issue with them these many years. AND they have a shuttle van for those of us who need a ride! They offer a AAA 10% discount on labor & send you other perks & discounts as valued customers. All that is really helpful! I highly recommend this business to anyone looking for competent, professional, courteous and pleasant people in this type of business.

They really saved me and my car. I'd been in and out of shops for months with my car constantly breaking on my 2 hour drive to work! They were finally able to diagnose the blown head gasket, got me fixed, and back on the road again. I am proud to say that it's been 500 miles since I was last here. And my car sounds very happy. Very polite and amazing front desk staff and mechanic.
And I called him all the time for updates. And I really appreciated how much time he spent explaining everything to me. Highly recommend, even if they are on the expensive side, it's worth the peace of mind that it will get done right.

There are cheaper places to go than Eureka Brake, but few places in Humboldt have their professionalism or integrity. I have used them almost exclusively for years. The few times I haven't have been due to a time constraint or scheduling issue. Almost every time has been to some regret I usually end up just having to take my car back to Eureka Brake to fix what the other guy did.
Over years of having bad mechanics and having to learn about cars myself just to make sure that the job gets done I can tell you there's a piece of mind that comes with having a mechanic you can trust. These guys will give you that peace of mind.

This repair shop is honest and was quick with diagnostics on my car. They let me know that my car's repairs were above and beyond cost what the car was worth and told me where to go to scrap it. Although I couldn't salvage the car, I was appreciative that they let me know before I started making repairs. Since the scrap yard wasn't open, they let me keep my vehicle in their lot over the weekend free of charge. Bonus, they are AAA approved and completely covid compliant. I appreciate their professionalism and will be going to them from now on. I 100% will be recommending them to anyone looking for a quality repair shop.

I had called around to speak to knowledgeable mechanics in the area about bringing in my Subaru to have the check engine light diagnosed. And so glad I called and spoke to Derek. He was able to look at my car later that day, had the parts ordered and repaired and my car was ready to pick up the next morning. The staff and mechanics are honest, trust worthy and did great work. I highly recommend Eureka Brake and Automotive.

Highly recommend! I trust Eureka Brake & Automotive much more than anywhere else, and we will definitely take our cars there again in the future. I was phoned and emailed after they diagnosed the problem. They prepared a long list of maintenance suggestions for my 13-year-old car, but did not pressure me at all. Since my diagnosis and repair required an overnight, they provided me a loaner car and offered to help transfer everything into it (including baby, stroller, 2 car seats).
I even forgot my gift certificate at home, but they let me apply it to my payment anyway. I feel like they are trustworthy so they trusted that I wasn't lying about the gift amount. (I mailed the certificate afterwards anyway). They work they did solved the problems, which was the most important thing. They might not be the lowest priced service around, but after experiencing their trustworthiness, friendliness, and unexpected helpfulness (the loaner car was a lifesaver for me and the kids!)
