Downs Ford began as Lakehurst Motors in 1930, and quickly established a reputation for honest and dependable service. Much like the managing family at Downs now, Oscar Downs was a hands-on dealer. William Downs, Oscar's son, subsequently moved the business to Hyers Street in downtown Toms River and eventually to Route 37 near Main Street.

Jonathan the salesman was wonderful. Everyone was very nice and very helpful. was only looking but got such a great deal we bought another Ford right off the showroom floor. Donato from finance made everything fast and easy. Will definitely go back for another in 2 years.

I had an excellent experience completing the purchase of the vehicle I've been leasing for the last several years. I appreciated the help I received in particular because the lease originated with a dealership near my previous home. Ziggy, my sales consultant, and Donato, the business manager, were personable, knowledgeable, and efficient. I highly recommend Downs, and I will absolutely be purchasing my next vehicle from them.

First, I want to say that Antonio and Denise were very kind and professional. I was hesitant to come in to the dealership to look at an Explorer, but Denise convinced me. Antonio was my sales consultant who thoroughly explained in detail everything I needed to know. Now, James (sales manager) seemed very standoffish and didn't show any interest in working out lease payments. Gave the impression he couldn't stand me from the start.

So ridiculous! Last, Joseph (sales manager) he spoke to me in a condescending below the belt kind of way. He felt it was necessary to explain that HIS Land Rover was top notch while I drove the lower end model Land Rover. He proceeded to go on about this for a few minutes telling me he has equity in his car while mine does not and his even has massaging seats. Wow like I needed to even know that!

I felt degraded, upset and completely humiliated. I didn't give him any reason to be treated so poorly and he definitely made it clear that he was more superior. James also knew I was upset and he had the chance to apologize but I left there without it. Antonio made sure my departure was pleasant, otherwise I would've left the dealership feeling awful. He did his absolute best in working with me. I give him 5 stars!

I had the O2 sensors and plugs replaced on my F150 and the price was almost $1,100! That's insane pricing! I was charged 2 hours at $159 per hour for the changing of the plugs. The service rep tried to tell me that they were hard to get to. Which is a complete lie. He explained to my wife that the price was $125 for the plugs and $330 for the rest, which she thought that was the price for both repairs was $455.

The $330 was the labor for the plugs. How could it take 2 hours for an experienced tech to change plugs unless he had no tools! I find it hard to believe that it would take that long. Never again will I return to Down's Ford for any repairs. They are rip offs!

I decided to purchase my lease. That was just as pleasant of an experience as leasing the car in the first place. From sales to finance, The sales person Maria had my best interest in mind. This is a great dealership with a lot of history in the town. I am more than happy to give them my business again in the future. I doubt I will ever drive anything other than a Ford F-150. It's the best car I've ever had. I have had many.

I dropped off the vehicle the night before with an issue with the window. by 3 o'clock the following day no one even called me with an evaluation. When they did get back to me they obviously evaluated the wrong part and wanted to charge me $1000 to replace a window motor. I've lost faith in Downs Ford after being a customer for roughly 15 years. Monica my service advisor was less than knowledgeable and seemed uncomfortable not knowing the technical side of the business. She didn't compensate by being better on the people side of the business either. I'll take my business elsewhere.

Downs Ford helped to put me in a vehicle that met my exact needs at a very affordable price. The sales associate was excellent. I was in and out of the showroom in record time and very pleased with the entire process. Thank you for making this experience the best I have ever had at a dealership.

I recently had my vehicle repaired by Downs Ford. My vehicle was taken to this dealership being the fourth visit the vehicle went to the dealership for this problem. I kept having multiple occasions where the vehicle lost all power. Typically it would be at a traffic light or a stopped intersection where I wouldn't be able to start the car, lock the doors unlock the doors nothing etc.

This occurrence the vehicle lost 100% power for over an hour forcing me to have a tow truck tow it to the dealership. I had to pay $125 for the tow truck. After eight days at the dealership I was told it was a battery. I paid $71,000 for this truck 18 months ago in May 2020. I was quoted $861 for a battery not covered by Ford extended warranty. I also brought up that the vehicle has been into FORD multiple times for this issue and was told nothing they could do.

I also asked if there was something they could do with the price since the details surrounding this incident were fresh and noted multiple times. I was once again advised no. I bought many cars from Ford including many new vehicles from Ford this will be the last time I ever buy a vehicle from FORD. I was also advised the battery had to be programmed only by Ford.

Come to find out in the day since that is 100% not true. I really feel like I have been wronged by Ford in the dealership in this occurrence. I'm not want to do bad reviews or dog a company but this is the story and the whole story and the fact that they couldn't do anything to help me on an 18 month old $71,000 vehicle is sad and others should be aware of this. I don't expect this review to be cared about or to heard from anyone I'd be surprised if anything did come from this to be honest.

Long story short, it is nice to see leading by example. Management is so down to earth from Big John, Gene and Rob. They made me feel comfortable while I was leasing my truck, Jonathan was my sales person person, he was very personal and patient. I also dealt with Donato, great kid and did not rush the process while explaining all the financing part of it.

I am so happy to deal with this dealer and hope they continue this way and I will totally recommend. I also dealt with Carolyn in service and she was great! Helped me with everything without coming to the dealership. Thank you guys and keep up the great work! God bless.

I pretty much go to Downs Ford for all my Ford vehicle purchases I always get Ron Rosa for a salesman he is honest and he always gives me a good deal. Unfortunately the last time I was there we just could not come to terms on the car I wanted. It was kind of a specialty car and they weren't bargaining on it much at all. Plus not giving me a good price on my trade. Other than that if you're going to buy a Ford I would go to Downs Ford every time. I never walk out of there feeling like I was taken advantage of.

I was on the market for a Ford Fusion Energi for a while and I'm glad that I found Downs Ford. Since I was coming from out of town, I did all of the "pre-work" on the phone with Stacy. I submitted an offer and there was some back-and-forth over the phone. Negotiation was extended when I looked at the first written quote because I was not aware that Downs does not include their PDI fee in the advertised price. Nevertheless, we were still able to come to an agreement on the same business day.

In the end I did end up spending about $300 more than I had the understanding it would be when I opened up that first written quote (on a "Safe and Secure" package that I believe is actually optional), but I knew that was part of the deal when I said "ok, I'll come out tomorrow to pick up the car" and it was still a deal worth the trek out from Philadelphia.

The test drive and all of the in-person paperwork that occurred the next day was seamless. Ziggy actually came out to meet us at our car when we pulled up. I knew that Downs was a quality dealership when I jumped in the car and saw that they were the first (of about a half a dozen) dealership to actually have the plug-in portion of the car's battery ready for me when I got there to test drive. If you're on the market for a quality used car, definitely check them out!

I wish I could do zero stars, these people are criminals honestly! Jonathan Tejada sold me a used 2013 F -150, it had always been my dream to own my own truck, and now here we are, haven't even drove the thing 3000 miles over the past 6 months since I bought it in September of 2020 and it has an oil leak, crack in the coolant tank, leaks around the turbo valves, the rotars and break pads were 80% worn on both the rear and front tires!

I always do my research and investigate the car before but Jonathan specifically stated "we have a used car guarantee" and that I have nothing to worry about! But here we are and their not willing to do a single thing! After giving them a call, they said we won't do anything for you since we hardly made any money off this sale anyways! To me it should be about treating the customer right no matter how much profit you make on a sale!

To make things worse during my car buying experience "big Jon" the manager in the back was only supposed to run my credit once since I was buying a house at the time, they ran it 7 different times and jacked my credit up right before I purchased my home! So they screwed up things outside of the automotive industry as well! These guys honestly suck and have no care for anyone but themselves! I never write reviews but I had to in this case so others can be protected from this pathetic excuse of a business!

Worst worst dealership i've ever been in! dont they know about covid? no one had a mask on! also the prices were kust ridiculous! rhe so called manager was in his office. he was the only one who could quote me a lease price. after waiting for thirty minutes, i requested that someone call or text me. well six hours later and nothing. horrible experience in every way.

Just bought the 2020 explorer. Antonio handled the deal as well as Gene. They were very accommodating to a delicate situation. I did not feel pressured to sign anything first visit. I traded my vehicle in with no hassles. Finance explained paperwork fine. I would recommend family or friends to pay them a visit. Very happy with my new purchase.

Found a used car online here. I clicked the button that says "get e-price". I asked for their bottom line cash price and stated no trades or financing involved. Simply asked to reply by email with the price. All i received was a generic email and no price. I tried it again a week later.filling out the eprice form online.choosing email as preferred contact and requested them not to call but simply email me the cash price.

They called me 7 times.left a few messages.but never did they provide the price. They refused to provide a price in writing. Just a waste of time here. Old school hard sell dealership.

The worst service center do not take your car. There. Horrible service.i wrote entire ford executive. And owner who goes to my church. No help. Owner did not even answer my letter. Put a water pump in 1300.00 and indexed a new tank 150 item. Stay away. the hour oil change with app takes 2 hours. Owner could have called me. stay away from ford. Hoping Trump bury this company. Mr lorenzini toms River.

We (my fiance and I) are finally at the end of our "2 year lease" agreement on his Ford Fusion. We go in Ford today to get our options but we find out to our surprise we are in a 3 year lease. Lol what? Mike our sales guys is lucky he left Ford. He told us we were signing a 2 year lease. People check your contracts and read every line of your papers because apparently they are crooks.

I will never go to downs Ford again. I am due for a new suv after our wedding in July but I wouldn't be going there. We will pay our lousy 3000$ left in our lease over the next year and walk away and you will loose 2 customers forever.

STAY AWAY! I purchased a new 2016 Mustang in which the frame was damaged during delivery. It took over two weeks for the Service Department to send me and kind of documentation, though they wanted me to bring it right in for repairs. When I called the shop that was to do the repairs, they highly suggested that I did not go through with it because. "as a reputable Ford OEM shop, we do not want to touch this." The service department did now convey any of the repairs shop concerns to me.

Once I got the information I needed, I called the sales department 9 times between 4 and 6:30 and no one ever got back to me. I am still in limbo and in contact with a regional service manager. This place is the definition of bad service. May I suggest Performance Ford or Liccardi Ford. I guess I should have known, my salesperson was so unknowledgeable it was funny. To be fair they openly admitted to knowing nothing about the vehicle lol.

Great service experience at Downs Ford. They serviced my vehicle quickly and the work was done right. Love the Quick Lane option for when I need to get in and out fast. I'll be back in a few months for my next oil change.

I have my car serviced here and I find them to be excellent at Quick Lane. They always call first with the cost from everything from service to parts and repairs. There are never any surprises and they always throughly explain what is needed. Excellent customer service on the phone and in person. Although I did not by my Ford from them I plan to purchase my next one from this dealership.

My 24 year old daughter (who looks much younger) used Downs Service to have a recall piece replaced on her steering wheel. At first the department said the issue was unrelated to the recall but that was reversed when my daughter explained she had been to a local service station and they were clear the issue was related to the recall. When she went to pick up the car today it did not start.

While she was trying to call a friend who is a mechanic to learn more about batteries, the woman at the desk started arguing with her telling her the work had already been done and insisted my daughter sign the bill. Under the guidance of her mechanic friend the car was jump started and the car is starting fine - it appears the headlights were on overnight which ran out the battery. I believe she was taken advantage of. Beware!

I've had had a fair amount of service performed at this dealership. Specifically, a convertible top and a tire was both replaced by warrenty. Also, I had some oil changes done too. My experience with the work preformed on my 2013 Mustang was positive. The service writer, Debbie helped me out a great deal and even went the extra mile to see if I wanted a rental car, as the convertible top would take some time to replace. Debbie informed me that Ford would actually pay for most of, if not all of the rental, but I still declined the rental since my Mustang is not my "everyday" car. I gotta say, I'm surprised at the other reviews about Downs Ford on this site. If you go there ask for Debbie, she's on point.

I recently purchased a used vehicle."passed a rigorous safety inspection". Well they missed 10 major things and after a month of repairs, so much waiting and 1500 of my own money going into it on top of everything I finally gave up on it and asked for my money back and was offered almost 2000 less on "trade in" than what I payed for it and " I payed all cash",I don't want a trade in, I want my money back!

I will never do business with them again and hope nobody else gets screwed like I did. If it wasn't for my blood pressure, I would have fought them with the n.j. vehicle commission/dealership licensing and n.j. consumer affairs but I'm just not able to get worked up and I would have. SHAME ON YOU!

This dealership is the worst. Went in for an oil change, they told me I needed brakes 10 days later I hear a grinding noise, went back and they told me I needed rotors. When I asked why they did not do the job from the beginning, the answer was "you didn't complain about the noise". Then they told me I need new tires. Well, I am up for a new car, and it will not be a ford. PS: the service girls are rude and sarcastic

Unbelievably unprofessional business. They sold us a vehicle that has a number of recalled parts. When we took the vehicle back to have it repaired, we requested a courtesy rental car. They refused to offer the complementary rental car. When my wife discussed the matter with the service desk, an employee (Rick Ricardi) felt it necessary to include himself into the conversation and told my wife to "shut up". Needless to say, I will be spreading the word to our business and political contacts in the area. Time for a company wide AUDIT.

Customer service is really bad here. I stopped in for a quick fix on my key that i assume needs a battery because it won't unlock my doors. The truck is 7 months old. They wanted me to make an appointment and get an oil change. I was lectured about how often i should change the oil and only thru there dealership. When i bought the truck it was delivered with the bed covered in dirt.

I had to bring it back for cleaning and it was still dirty after they supposedly detailed it. I will never go back to this dealer again. And the women that coordinates the service department need a career change, she shouldn't be working there.
