Kevin and the team have exceeded my expectations of an auto repair shop! I have little first-hand experience with getting my vehicle repaired, but I've heard the horror stories, so I was paying close attention when working with Doctor J's. Kevin has excellent communication skills, and was very thorough when explaining each repair and costs associated.

At no point was I u unaware of the status of my vehicle, as you can expect an update call at least once every two days (I received a call every day, but I don't know if that's the norm). An $800 repair with my Mini Cooper dealership was less than $300 at Doctor J's. I spent the extra $500 I saved on other services that Doctor J offered -- great quality and value!

Really great, honest mechanic! We drove in to Huntington Beach from out of town to purchase a used car from a nearby dealership. The Team at Dr. J's was happy to give a thorough inspection of the vehicle at a fair price; they caught a few issues that only an expert would have noticed, and they allowed us to purchase our used car with confidence.

We also saw them interact with other customers getting actual repairs done and noted that they were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and nice with all these other customers. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone in the North Orange County area.

I had gone to Doctor J, because I had heard of his "experience" with Nissan/Datsun Z's. He seems like he should be knowledgeable about these cars - let alone any car in general. However, that was not the case at all. I had purchased a 350z that had been going into a limp mode not revving pass 2,000 RPM, and had hoped he could at the very least diagnose the issue.

I saw his max diagnostic fee posted in the room and had assumed that would be the charged amount /hr. Once I had left my car it would be months before I would get it back, and this included calls back and forth discussing the time the car would be finished. FOR diagnostic. At one point he had started throwing random and expensive fixes at the car, that would make no sense.

After receiving the car I had learned that not only was the car not fixed, but was actually worse off; to add to that after MONTHS of diagnostic he still could not find out what was wrong with the car; he tossed expensive fixes at the car out of my pocket. The worst part: He charged DOUBLE his max diagnostic fee, which makes me wonder the point of the word MAX, and then he refused to apply the diagnostic fee towards the fixes he had attempted. Horribly inept shop and mechanics, and an owner that does not care for you or your car only his bottom-line. Don't waste any energy or money here, there are oil stops more capable than here.

Brought my car in for an oil change & received a minor service special. The place is well maintained and in a good location. After they inspected my car they found the rear brake pads were wearing unevenly and I had a leaking axle seal. So they replaced both. Kevin was courteous and straight forward. The 10% off Yelp discount was helpful. The total was $772 with the discount. Professional and good experIence overall.

They do a good job, just be prepared to spend a bit. Here is my breakdown: I went in for an A/C recharge $230 to begin with and from there the narrative had twists and turns: Initial A/C Recharge - $230 Check for harmful fluid in A/C line $50 A/C recharge was still hot air. Remove A/C Recharge Diagnose A/C not cold - $140 Discovered Line is "clogged" Clear the clog/filter line - $170 Recharge A/C again. TOTAL: $595 *(approximately) Car was in the shop the whole day, but I was not in a rush. Kevin did call in and check with me to let me know the status.

End of the journey, blows cold and I made it through the last heat wave! As mentioned, be ready to slap down some Benjamins! As it's not cheap to do anything these days with EPA and the A/C work I understand it can be difficult to diagnose and R134A? is expensive for shops I am guessing. I would say overall, good work and I hope to keep driving this old Mazda as my daily commuter and save the miles on my new car!

I have been going to Doctor J for years. I can trust them, which to me is the most important factor for auto service. They are straight with me on what needs to be fixed, what can be deferred. Prices are good. Work quality is great. Ask for Kevin Broussard.

My car needed a simple oil change nothing else. When I got there the kid at the front didn't really say much, just I'll be with you. Cool. Got my car taken across the street which I'm not too comfortable with because I saw the mechanic back out of the driveway not even looking for any cars. Quick process - the mechanic couldn't get the service light to reset which I've never heard of.

They said my tires needed to be rotated cool. They get serviced at Costco. But what got me a few days later was that it said they checked fluid levels of everything BUT my windshield wiper fluid is out. I think this is funny. Now I'm really questioning if they even checked everything else they said they checked on my car. It's super close to my job but I most likely won't be going back. I filled my windshield wiper fluid though. Yes, it was a mini service!

They are quick to see you and professional. Reasonably priced and clean environment. Easy to schedule appointments and staff is always available to answer any questions and or offer recommendations, they work with your budget.

The Dr. J team was able to fix my overheating Ford Expedition with factory Motorcraft parts and fluids quickly and efficiently than the local dealerships. Also, their prices were very competitive! Definitely my new mechanic for my vehicles!

I have been coming here for more years than I want to admit, as my Subaru Baja is now over 16 years ago, and has over 207,000 miles on it. It runs great because of these guys, but I have ordered a new Ford Maverick, and this may the last time they get to see it, as I have an offer from a mechanic to buy my Baja. Even though I will be selling it within the next few months, once the Maverick arrives, when they told me that my tires were over 6 years old, and that they still had mileage left on them, but they did have some issues, I went immediately and got new tires.

I know that I could have just left on the old tires, but their honesty about the issue just gave me such a good feeling, I wanted to make sure that I was safe in my final months with one of the best vehicles I have ever had. As soon as my new vehicle arrives, it will be visiting these guys so that they can meet from the beginning, and be introduced the right way when everything is good. I know they will treat it as well as they have treated me and my Baja, so this is not goodbye, but hello with a new vehicle.

Doctor J automotive is the only mechanic I trust to get the job done with integrity. I had taken my car to 3 different shops in LA because my oil plug had seized. Every other shop tried for a few minutes to remove it but gave up saying that the only way was to Change the oil pan, but not Doctor. Their mechanics were able to ol remove the plug and saved me a small fortune on repairs. Worth the drive down from LA to see the best mechanic in SoCal.

If you are looking for an honest mechanic this is the right place. I came in with a seized oil plug that 3 other shops didn't put the effort in to fix and just said "you need new oil pan". Honest service and fair pricing, what more do you need from a mechanic?

Took my car in for an engine issue most places wouldn't dare to touch. Kevin was honest and up front with me every step of the way and the tech was able to find the issue and fix it efficiently and effectively. This team really has something going here and I would recommend them to anyone. Honest, upfront, considerate, and knowledgeable are just some of the characteristic you can expect from this shop.

WOW! These guys are great! I called Kevin at 5pm. My engine light came on. He said come right over and they'll do a preliminary check on my '15 Nissan Versa. It's low miles (32K) so I was suspicious when my dealership said you'll need major repair. YES! Kevin checked my car readings and it was only that the fuel cap had not been closed all the way.

If I did have to do the work here, it was $40 LESS than my Nissan dealership in Huntington Beach. And they saved me the $189 the dealership was going to charge just to take a quick look. Now I'll be a returning customer to this place for everything! THANK YOU Kevin (and Steve who answered my questions while waiting).

We came in (2015 Cadillac Escalade) with what we assumed (rather hoped) was a smaller repair only to find out we had multiple major engine issues. We got second opinions to verify and found that they were pretty spot on / fair on pricing. The service was great only wish it wouldn't have taken them so long, but this also was probably due to being very busy.

Overall Steve was very knowledgeable and helpful. Only rating 4 stars due to timelines not being communicated very clearly. Would definitely highly recommend and most likely will be returning again!

I go to Doctor J Automotive on a regular bgoasis to.have routine maintenance done on my 2005 Suburb Baja. Each time I go in I am met with a smile and a very enthusiastic greeting. Yes it happens to everyone, but I still feel special. On May 19th, I went in for my regular maintenance and an additional request, to replace a door handle which I had brought in.

As with a lot of older vehicles, the replacement parts are not exacting. I talked to the installer and he showed me how the replacement would not work, but he came up with a brilliant idea. With my permission, he replaced the parts on the old door handle by taking them off the new one and had to spend hours in the process, but was able to get it done, and then instead of getting a huge bill for the time, I was presented with a fixed door handle and a much smaller bill than anticipated. I am so excited to have all of them at Doctor's J on my team.

They did what I asked, but problem remained. They did a thorough diagnostic, but came down to dirty parts that were overlooked to make it better. I had to figure it out for myself.

Not very friendly. Came in for an estimate on installing some "after market" items to my new Jeep. They didn't really require a mechanic but I used to come here years ago when I owned another Jeep and thought I'd see what they'd charge. Steve B, the service manager was not very friendly, maybe because it was 4:30 on a Friday afternoon and he wanted to go home, idk.

I told him I wanted 2 foot rails, a truck bed topper and a sun shade installed. I told him it would be 3 hours work, max. He said he'd have to see them first like he didn't want to commit to an estimate. Then I asked how much they charge an hour and he said $129. As, I stared earlier these are not items that require an experienced mechanic and I doubt they pay their mechanics more than $40 per hour.

I thought the hourly rate was outrageous. It would have been nice if he acknowledged that they don't do that kind of work or are pretty expensive to do that kind of work or even recommended someone else. I decided to just pay $100 an hour for 2 handymen who can read directions.

I purchased some Bilstein 5100 series shock absorbers for my 2015 Toyota Tundra. I just needed a shop to install these and then an alignment performed. Came across Dr Js on yelp and made an appointment. I received awesome service. Mechanical work was excellent. I highly recommend this shop.

I purchased a used vehicle for my son and knew it needed some love and care. I went to the dealership and was given a quote for services they told me the vehicle needed based on the mileage. I checked around and found Doctor J Automotive and they did more than just look at the mileage, they did a thorough assessment and let me know legitimate services & a repair that needed to be done.

It saved me over $600. Additionally impressive is their integrity and customer service. As people came in to pick up their vehicle, they were treated with VIP courtesy. Kevin even took the time to show my son the proper way to check his oil, explained what he should look for and answered my son's questions. Brought in my 1966 Mustang that needed some engine work due to an anti freeze leak and rough idle. Also same week had an overheating issue with my 07 Corvette. Paid for both front and rear brakes when they couldn't find which caused vibration and squeaking. Now less than 20K miles later front brakes squeaking again. Checked my self and found one of front pad clips were bent in rubbing the rotor causing squeaking. This was either a rookie mistake or done to cause squeaking before the pad wear tab hits rotor. Either way I wouldn't recommend.

Alright so here's the thing, I bought a van. Not just any van, but an old Dodge Ram Van that has been converted into a camper van, solar panels and all. Felt great when I drove it, but I knew that there had to be issues. This thing was 20 years old. I was honestly not sure where to look for service. Who would want to take in this old clunker, and who could I trust to make sure it was drive-able, but also not take me to the bank and dry up my cash.

Doctor J was just around the corner, and I shot them an email. Right from the start it was a pleasant interaction, and I was able to get the van in by the end of the week for a diagnostic checkup. Unfortunately, I didn't buy a car that was ready to go. There were so many things that needed to be addressed, but the guys at Doctor J were super helpful and understanding.

They helped me prioritize what I needed to fix, and I didn't feel forced to get everything done. We came up with a great plan for future fixes, and have found some other problems, but I feel great knowing these guys are on top of everything, and were honest throughout. Appreciate the work!

These guys have been in the community for decades. If you sit in their waiting area you will see many repeat customers whom they know and treat like friends. Just listen to their conversations and you can tell you are in a great shop. They are upfront and fair with pricing and never try to up sell or pressure you but will let you know of any potential issues to save you trouble and $ down the road. They give good advice if you ask and will answer any questions. No shady, fly-by-night auto shop here, but only quality, professional, trusted work and team.

Scott and Kevin were wonderful to speak with straight forward no BS and I appreciate and respect that. the service was excellent, on my late 90s camero. Definitely bringing a couple different cars by as well.

We had a questionable first experience with Dr. J's but decided to give them another chance. Unfortunately, upon the second visit it was apparent that they were not willing to let bygones be bygones. They are not a veteran friendly business and not a friendly business in general unless you're a retiree with extra $ to throw around

I, took my BMW 428i into Dr. J's for the first time and was assisted by Kevin. Kevin was polite and professional. No surprise charges, he pointed out a couple of things in need of attention on my car and I agreed. My car runs better/smoother, like new and its a 2016. After reading the Kevin had wrote as a response to my original message. I find it hard to believe that customer service is his priority. Never once did he offer an apology to me in person. When I worked customer service, even if I knew I was right or wrong I always apologized for the confusion or miscommunication. Glad I will never have to bring my car back here.

Also his brother when they took my car in never explained that they charge $80 an hour to look at your car. Make sure you read all the fine print before signing anything since they will NOT tell you up front the prices.

Still excellent service. I brought my car here to have them inspect and possibly diagnose a leak they located months ago. I'm surprised the Audi dealership did not mention anything about the leak when they did a recall and 14 point inspection two weeks ago. Kevin and P spotted it when they replaced the front brakes. Although I didn't need to get it fixed right away, I felt very uneasy with this issue hanging over me.

They were able to inspect and diagnose the issue. They replaced the thermal and water pump. There was a slight compromise with the plastic pieces that Audi tends to use, but thankfully, they were able to locate that compromise and fix it. I just traded in my Nissan Frontier for a Tacoma. I will definitely be bringing the Tacoma here for service too.

I turned down the Toyota "Care" package knowing I would be bringing the vehicle here. Kevin, Steve and P are great. They really know what they're talking about. It's impressive how they know so much about so many different vehicles. Unlike an Audi, Nissan or Toyota mechanic, they need to be knowledgeable in all the vehicles versus an Audi mechanic specifically working on Audi.

Helpful and honest. No one enjoys car repair. But Doctor J's makes it tolerable. They always under promise and over deliver. I've taken about 20 different cars there both import and domestic and always really satisfied. If you're looking for an honest and quality repair, just go you won't be disappointed.

Although the mechanic Pablo did do quality work and fixing my SUV. Kevin's lack of customer service really left a bad taste in my mouth. It's disappointing when you see such quality work overshadowed by lack of customer service.

Not only do they maintain your vehicle. If they see a potential problem, they let you know before it gets worse and help you to prevent a more expensive repair bill down the road. They are also on AAA's Preferred Auto Repair List of shops. Not an easy list to get on. I highly recommend this shop. Just ask for Steve or Kevin. They will take great care of you and your vehicle.

I have been a customer for about eight years. I'm on my third car that I've taken to Dr. J and I have always felt comfortable and not fearful that I was going to be over charged or charge for unnecessary things. As a female, it's important because sometimes if we don't have somebody with us we get cheated. I've been a victim of that. I have never felt anything but honesty and truthfulness from Kevin. And I highly recommend Doctor J!

This was my first contact with Doctor J Automotive and I couldn't have been more pleased with the company. Our best friend has been using the company for years so I went there based on his recommendation.
