Highly recommend this business! My car was badly damaged (while parked!), and Dempster Auto Rebuilders worked with my insurance company (and the rental car agency) to make the process go smoothly - outstanding customer service! Their time estimate for the repairs was accurate. And the car looks better than ever!

Fantastic service and good prices. I've had to take one car in after hail damage, which they repaired quickly and effectively, including the replacement of a few panels (apparently, many cars' roofs are made from aluminum to reduce the car's weight.), and the car ended up looking better than before. I also t-boned someone who thought I had to stop on Ridge (nope).

I lost the entire front bumper and both headlights. The other car's front axle got bent. DAR fixed both of our cars and handled the insurance process beautifully. Walking into the joint is a trip. It still looks and feels like a shop from the 1970s, but I don't think you'll find a better team anywhere in the area.

My car would not start about 3 blocks away from this place. I walked there and asked to borrow a battery jumper. They let me use it.no charge.no questions.just trusted me to take it, use it, and bring it back!. So although I have never had a repair here. Their sincerity and integrity in this interaction should speak for itself.

Love these guys! Every time I go to them they exceed my expectations for price, quality, and craftsmanship, and knowing they are the very best sort of people makes it alot easier to hand over all that hard earned money for high quality repairs.

This place is great! they fixed my SUV after a school bus hit it and it looks as if nothing happened to it. They are professional and kind. From getting a quote, to the communication during the repair, and pick up it was all made an easy process.

Family owned, the service was excellent, car looked like new. Hopefully I will never get into a fender bender, but if I did this is the place to go to.

I will only take my car to Dempster Auto Rebuilders for auto body work. They've proven to me to be trustworthy, they have good customer service and get the job done in a timely manner. They also twice have found used parts for my car which saved me quite a bit of money over the cost of brand new parts--I could not tell the difference when the job was done. I highly recommend this company.

When I first walked in, it was like walking into a house made into an office with two grumpy-looking guys sitting in desks with their laptops practically back to back, each doing their own thing. They gave me a blank stare when I walked in and asked, "Can I help you?" I can't remember the first guy I spoke with; slimmer than the two and who also gave me the estimate.

While waiting for the estimate to be printed, I talked with both guys (the other guy was Rich-heavier than his business partner--I only know his name because I took his business card) and found them to be pretty friendly, down-to-earth, as well as knowledgeable--we traded some good stories back and forth about Evanston. Got the estimate and was told the car would be ready, at the latest, by Friday.

I balked at the amount, but was comparing another estimate that I got from Richards on Grand. The estimate from Richards was very reasonable and cheaper, including the paint job that would be needed for the bumper and hood that I was replacing. But I decided on DAR because it was closer. Simple as that. I didn't even do a review; just happened to be driving on Dempster and saw the words, auto rebuilders.

I was actually on my way to Richard's on Grand Auto Rebuilders. I was at Western/Peterson with the new hood strapped down with bungie cords and the bumper in the car, when I decided to turn around and head into Evanston. I'm sure Richard's has great service, as this is what caused me to look into them first, but it took me longer to get estimates for painting and putting the car back in shape (almost a week and a half).

That wasn't so much a turn off because anytime I spoke with anyone, they were very professional. With that being said, I'm still glad I made the best choice. A few days later I picked up the car and it looked better than it did before the accident. But, of course it should, right? Great job guys!

My second visit here. Always great experience! They were super professional. Cleaned the dent on my car without charge!

Walked in to get an estimate, the old guy came out to look at it and said $500. I said I had a new fender at home and would that help reduce the price and he started to grumble under his breath and make rude comments. I asked if he always acted like this in front of his customers and he apologized. After his apology he went right back to grumbling and complaining, so I took my business elsewhere. Apparently they have enough business where they can abuse their customers. I refuse to put up with their abusiveness and unprofessional behavior.

Dick Peach is an absolute gem. He took my care of my old (and beloved) Subaru Outback after two accidents. I retired that car less than a year ago, only to have my new Kia Hybrid sideswiped recently. Dick wrote a fair estimate, worked with Allstate, got my rental arranged for me, and had my car finished as scheduled. I could not recommend this shop more highly. Locally owned, family operated, great small business.

I can't believe this is the first review. I have known Dempster Auto Rebuilders for many years and always been pleased with their work. My experience with them has been great! They are helpful, reasonable and accountable. They have repaired and replaced parts on two Toyotas and a Honda. The Toyota Cressida was hit while parked and the door destroyed.

They obtained a new door from Tokyo, replaced it and then touched up all the rest as well. I am now waiting for another "hit and run" to be fixed on my Camry. They keep costs as low as possible and do good work. They put a positive spin on having one's car hit. You can't ask for more.

There's none better. Honest, reasonable, professional and local. Dick and Jon are local treasures and are examples of what is great about living in Evanston.

This is exactly the kind of auto repair shop you want: they're honest, fair, quick and reliable. I came here for a second opinion after having gotten an exorbitant quote for some minor paint touch-ups from Gerber, on Skokie Blvd. The second opinion I got was that it wasn't worth spending the amount of money Gerber had quoted me, and Dempster Auto Rebuilders offered to do what they felt was justified given the value of the car, for what amounted to 10% of Gerber's quoted price.

I picked the car up on a Saturday, when they were closed, and they told me I could stop by and settle the bill at my convenience. Couldn't recommend this shop strongly enough. Did not think this type of business existed anymore. Will be recommending them to everyone I know.

Car looks like new. The crazy new problem is gone along with 8 years of minor scrapes. Really needed car for grandkids and although I missed one basketball game they came through for the second.

I was in a four car accident on the Edens that was NOT my fault. The entire driver's side of my 2006 Cadillac DTS was smashed. I was overwhelmed with the time involved in getting repairs completed as I am a busy professional and cover a large territory for an area bank. Dempster Auto Rebuilders took care of everything including coordinating a rental car and working with the insurance company to make sure I was able to focus on my job. I just got my car back today and it looks AMAZING - fully restored and detailed! This is the ONLY body shop I am using from now on.

Needed a pretty quick/simple repair done, and chose here due to proximity to home and work as well as Yelp reviews. Was quoted $137, but charged $199 because "we had to order the part from somewhere else." I was not informed of this until the work was done, and was told I was wrong about the initial estimate until I provided the printed estimate -- then given the shady explanation above. The work was done quickly but the up charge of 50% from the initial quote left a bad taste in my mouth.

Wow! What a refreshing concept. To have a small business do great work at a fair price. The owner Dick Peach is friendly and solid and truly cares about his customers. I had several small dings and scrapes that needed attention. Dick P. gave me a really great deal and was willing to squeeze me into the schedule since it wasn't a huge job. Since I work locally, he even dropped me off at work. The car was ready by the end of the day! Glad to see that 'small town' customer service isn't dead.

I was out of town on business and someone seriously swiped my car while I was parked in a parking lot. no note left. just the dents and dings from the encounter. I was worried that maybe the dents and scratches would turn to rust if left untreated so I took her in for a look-see. I actually chose Dempster Auto Rebuilders based on the yelp reviews. YAY YELP! Anyway, didn't need an appointmet. drove over and Dick came out to have a look.

He rubbed out the scratches, checked the dents and proclaimed her 'cured'. He said that if it were him he would not invest in doing anything with them (and after he rubbed them, the scratches that seemed so deep and ugly were gone) and the dents practically unnoticeable. It would have been easy to convince me that I needed to have these repaired (I actually tried to convince HIM of that fact!) but he wouldn't hear of it. so of course, if I ever do need REAL auto body work, these guys are my guys.

After looking at the car, Dick spent a few minutes talking with me about his business, his guys (who've all been with him a long time), his family and his fishing! A very very friendly and nice guy. and a great start to my weekend after I ended my week fretting about having to cover the cost of the repair bill.!

I have never been so excited about a car repair. They charged us an incredibly reasonable amount to cover up a scratch and buff around it. Then they buffed the entire car, covered up all the little scratches on our bumper--and didn't charge us a penny over the estimate! The staff are incredibly nice here. I will absolutely come back if I ever need auto body work done in the future.

I recently had a small accident where paint was transferred onto the back of my car and they told me to bring the car in at my own convenience and they'd take a look. Dick Peach was the guy who had written back to my online inquiry and when I got there, he took about 10 minutes to buff the paint off my car and didn't even charge me! They are incredibly nice and efficient and I would recommend them to anyone that wants to trust an autobody shop with their car!

These guys do fine work and don't mess around. Your repair work turn around time is short and your bill is not so painfull.
