In 1976, Dave Aloisio's vision to have his own business was realized when the doors opened to his one-man automotive repair shop on Gay Street in West Chester. Repairing cars and rebuilding engines alone, the business grew quickly and a need for employees and more space was necessary. Today, along with his son Jonathan and daughter Laura, this family-owned and operated business located on the corner of Bolmar and Union Streets, employs 8 full-time employees and services over 550 cars a month.

OB has been a member of the DARE family since 1995 and has been working on cars since age 12. He resides in Downingtown with his loving wife and two sons. He enjoys camping, finishing, and NASCAR when he has free time, and when he's in the shop, he specializes on engine building and large transmission jobs.

DARE fixed it up pretty good. Good communication. They even followed up with me to make sure everything was good with the car after I picked it up!

I dont know who is writing these post like this is the best shop since sliced bread but I disagree wholeheartedly! I got a trunk lock replaced on a 2017 sonata.$600+ dollars they charged me talking about they had to do hrs of labor to remove a back seat.saw it done on youtube in 15 min. Then they charged me almost 900 for an ALTERNATOR.I only went there because I had an extended warranty.they said the alternator cost $600.if you dont mind the incredible price gouging they do, they do good work. Its just GROSSLY OVERPRICED.

This shop (and Jonathan specifically) saved my weekend. I finally found time to put my procharger kit on. With the car half apart, the first bolt out of the kit to go on the car was packaged wrong. While the label said m12x1.5x120 it was not only m12x120 but also grade 5 instead of 8. And it's bolt that goes on the harmonic balancer pulley, so pretty crucial - couldn't proceed with the install, and of course procharger and lmr where I ordered from, all closed for the long memorial day weekend. Checked every possible local place, none had this bolt.
Only hope was for fastenal but also closed through Tuesday. By complete accident happened to run into someone who recommended to stop at Dave's/DARE Automotive, and so happy we did. In less than 10 minutes Jonathan listened to our story and rethreaded one of the bolts he had for us, complete strangers who've never been at the shop before. He refused to take any cash either. THANK YOU! Saved the weekend and my car. We'll definitely come back for any actual work we'd need on our mustangs. Update 2022: the tapped bolt survived for a year until we replaced it with a proper one, in the next 4 years Jonathan has been our go-to for any car issue that wasn't quite DIY-able (e.g, Jeep engine swap) and we can't recommend them enough to all friends and family.

What a freaking God-send. Seriously, I can't say enough about this place. They took such amazing care of me and my car. Both of us lol. My Acura broke down 45 min from my house. I needed to bring her some place near, meaning I would have to go to a shop i didn't know anything about. On a strict budget, they took great care to always update me on every step, get approval of the price before doing the work, even diagnosed all the issues and were super honest about everything. Absolutely 10/10 would recommend. Thank you, Jonathan, for all your help!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. This is, by far, the WORST place I have ever taken my car. I dropped my car off on Friday, and was told it would be ready for pick up on the following Monday. Not only was it not finished, but they failed to call and let me know. This happened for the next several days, to which I found out there was apparently more wrong with it than originally thought. First, the wrong part was ordered, and then it took longer to put the part in; Long story short, the maintenance took 3 days longer than it should have, and not once did they call me.
I had to call in everyday to ask for updates, to which they told me everyday it would be ready the next. Not only that, but when I continued to ask for price estimates, they kept saying "someone would call and let me know", which, you guessed it, never happened. When it's finally ready, I get in for them to tell me that the final price is more than DOUBLE the maximum price I was originally told at drop-off. Needless to say, my experience was awful and I will never be back. I encourage anyone reading this review to do the same. They will waste your time and money, and fail to be professional while they are at it. Avoid at all costs.

The team at DARE always go above and beyond for all my automotive needs and on top of that they treat you like family. I highly recommend bringing your car to them for service! Their partner company Jonathans Auto Outlet has also been a huge help in consigning both my friends and I's vehicles (Volkswagen Jetta and Subaru Forester). I went with Dave's after a less than satisfactory experience with a repair shop recommended by my insurance company. Not pleased with them, I decided to do my own research online; with that, the local repair shop that stood out (for consumer satisfaction, quality of work, price, etc.) was Dave"s and their reviews so exceeded anyone else's, that I looked no further.
They did not disappoint. They are honest, competent, very consumer friendly (thank you!) and helpful. They will be my "go-to" place for any future car work and I will recommend them to anyone
