My wife is not keen on handling car issues herself but she has been here three times now and has been happy every single time. She will be using them for 4 new tires this week and they are going out of their way to sneak her into schedule and find her a loaner. As a business owner myself I appreciate the way they have handled themselves and our business.

I purchased a new set of tires at the end of December and opted to not take the extended care package which covers nails, repairs and tire replacement if necessary.

Have brought both of my cars to Clavey Auto Services Inc for several issues, and have always had great service. Very clear with his instructions and explanations, very simple with getting the job done. Highly recommend.

My family has been going to Clavey Auto for over 34 years now. It's a family run shop with Napa affiliation, meaning that the parts they install are covered by Napa's coast to coast warranty. I have never had a bad experience at this shop, nor has anyone in my family. We're on a first name basis with the Clavey's and consider them salt of the earth type folks.

I read a review where someone complained about the prices comparing Just Tires to Clavey. You couldn't have a more apples to carrots comparison. I personally don't find Clavey's prices significantly higher than what's in the area and even if it is a few bucks more, the fact that I can call up the shop and be treated like extended family and know that the work being done is going to be done correctly, you just cannot put a price tag on that.

I have on occasion used the dealer service for warranty work and a few odds and ends while they've had my vehicle(s), and there is just no comparison, which is why if it's not under factory warranty, the vehicle(s) go to Clavey, and will for the foreseeable future!

The place had many great reviews from 3-4 years ago. A trusted friend had mentioned their name a while back. The mechanic I have been going to for non-dealer repairs retired during Covid and I was looking for a reliable place. The front cover under the car got lose and one end was touching the ground, a minor job. When I went in the person took a look and said $45 for that work.

There were 4 mechanics sitting around, having coffee and talking. All the person had to do was lift the car, pull the cover in and tighten the 2 screws. Took him 15 min tops. $45 felt well too much for the job. Everyone was nice, but for a small job like that there was not much to talk to begin with. I did not feel I got a fare price, more like taken advantage of. My score is because of the price, not the actual service.

Very high prices compared to others. For i stance the alignment is considerably higher than their competitors. 4 wheel alignment at just tires is $116 theirs was around $250.

Clavey services my school buses every year. They are affordable and dependable! I cannot imagine taking my business anywhere else. Services: Auto engine tuning, General repairs & maintenance, Exhaust, Oil change

My family's been going to clavey for over twenty years, and have for at least 6 cars between my parents, my siblings and myself. I'm a second generation customer They have never once led us astray or overcharged. They usually get the work done in less time than they say it will take. What more could you want out of a mechanic? Thanks for years of good service!

I have been taking all my work work vehicles as well as personal cars to Jack and Jeff at Claveys for some time. They are incredible honest and always have time to answer questions. This is my first ever yelp review. I felt compelled to leave this review because of how bad my experience was. If I can give them negative stars, I would. Where do I start? I chose to try this place because it has a perfect yelp review and my wife came here a few times, no problems. After working overnight, I dropped off my car for an oil change and routine maintenance.

They called my wife with a bill of $560. After glancing at the bill with sleepiness, I asked them to lower the amount to 500 which they agreed to. They told me they will finish at 3:00 pm. no problem. Close to 3:45 rolls around no phone call. I call them and say they are almost finished. Then I go there and look at the invoice with now more clear eyes after sleeping.

Most of the prices were reasonable but they added $100 on charges I've never seen before. Now I'm not a car expert but clean battery terminal($37.50) and four wheel brake inspection (62.50)? I verified with my car friends who told me the rest of the prices were reasonable but the two I mentioned were not. They told me i was soon due new brakes and quoted me $671.

Upon looking at that invoice, they charged me for a brake fluid flush ($125)after I just had it done and paid for it during my maintenance. Their reason was that it is standard for that to go in the invoice for brakes. After all this, I honestly would have let it all go and search for another auto shop. But as I drove home I noticed there were black oil spots on my front passenger seat and on the front glove compartment (when they changed my filter).

That was the last straw and I concluded that I had verbalize my frustration to the person I dealt with, a Rich. As I told Rich, I have a hard time understanding how this was a family business of 60 years (which they advertise) after my experience and I will never return to this place again. I give him credit though, he did admit that they dropped the ball on this one.

After much searching I was happy to get a referral to this place. A family owned businesses offering great customer service, quality work & honesty upfront with quotes and options available to the customer. Jody & Carol who answer phones are especially friendly, and will try their best to get you in o even have them take a look at what u need before scheduling an appointment.

And when I called literally within the hour Jeff was looking at my car. Needing new tires on my Van, he offered me three different options, prices but all quality tires to fit may accessible van as it's a heavy vehicle. Not only was he able to order tires on Monday. Came in Tuesday and my car was in the shop Wed all day. They even provide at no cost a vehicle for the customer to drive in the absence of their own car while it's being worked on.

Just make sure to let them know upfront if u need the vehicle as it's in high demand. Friendly, honest, great communication, convenience of a car to create less disruption in your day and still get things done. I highly recommend this place for your vehicle maintenance!

I have been going to Clavey Auto Service for more years than I can count. Since the turn of the Century? In any case, Jack and Jeff, Carol and Jodi, are always friendly, knowledgeable and perhaps most importantly to you all, honest. They know their stuff.

Except for warranty work only available at dealerships, my cars had rarely seen the inside of any shop. In my earlier years I was a DIY guy and had done most of my own car work like rotating tires, replacing oil, spark plugs, brakes, batteries and more. But age has crept up and I now use Clavey for work since moving to Glenview. I recently needed a battery for my car.

As it was in the trunk, this was no simple effort as the trunk lining had to be removed to even reach the battery, I went to Clavey with a slight concern with "unusual" repair. Not only did they assure me no big deal, but they finished the job far quicker than I imagined. When I saw the great job they had done, I asked them how their mechanics had become so skilled in less common repairs.

They noted that Clavey mechanics stay current through ongoing training with NAPA. NAPA itself notes it is "on the forefront of our industry by delivering on product innovation, relevant training, and technology offerings that give our wholesale customers the tools needed to be successful." Thus Clavey can readily compete with dealerships on skills, and beat them on cost.

As for customer service, no dealership has ever come close to the fairness, friendliness, and honesty exhibited by Jeff and Jack Clavey and their staff. A really great place to do business.

I stopped in and just needed tires topped off and spoke to jack Clavey who was incredibly helpful and friendly! I was back on the road in just a minute and though I was happy to pay he gave me a friendly catch ya next time! Nice folks, wouldn't hesitate to come back for real service in this clean well lit shop!

They are, without a doubt, The best for Service, honesty, and they may cost a little more, but like the saying goes you get what you pay for. We have used Clavey Auto for over 15 years for all of our business equipment, and personal vehicles. They have never let us down. I would not go anywhere else. They are the best!

Excellent service. Clavey Auto inspects your vehicle and makes recommendations of what needs to be done now and what should be watched and deferred for a while. Their recommendations are based on what is needed for the vehicle without trying to sell unnecessary services. A true honest shop looking out for their customers. Great people to work with. Highly recommended.

Update: Been coming here for years, another great experience yesterday. Great work at a very fair price! My car has 167,000 miles, and still running like new thanks to Clavey Auto! Still great as ever! Get your car in there if you need service! It will thank you with great performance!

Fantastic service and value. Needed a wheel bearing replaced and my family mechanic had retired. I asked around my neighbors for recommendations and Clavey was one of three Glenview repair shops that I narrowed it down to. They were also by far the most cost effective and honest. For this specific repair all 3 places I called told me I needed the same work done. 1 place wanted to charge me over $80 to "diagnose" the problem after I took it to them and they had already test driven my car to confirm what I told them was indeed the problem. I'm not going to name the other places, because it's not to say they won't do a good job. Clavey earned my business and recommendation and future referrals as they were fair and honest. Did what needed to be done and didnt try to sell me other crap or add-on services I didn't need. Thank you

Clavey's is a great place! I had a large screw in my tire and was worried I was going to have to buy a whole new tire. Clavey's got me in right away and they were able to take out the screw and repair the tire! They were very friendly, the reception area was very clean and I felt like they were very honest! Thank you Clavey's. You'll be my new mechanic of choice.

What a great experience from start to finish! This family-owned gem came by recommendation. I had been driving into Chicago to an auto place that shall not be named for a recurring problem. At least weekly, I was getting the annoying "Low Tire Pressure" ding in my vehicle. After three trips in and being told there was nothing wrong, no hole, no leak.they filled the tire up and sent me home with a "Good luck!" Enter: Clavey Auto I rolled in before a big road trip with the same irritating problem and in 20 mins, I had one of the Clavey brothers personally bring my dirty, debris-filled rim into me to show me the problem.

It needed to be cleaned and resealed. Hello! How did the other place not take this apart and see that? Oh well. I have a new auto service and it's IN GLENVIEW! Everyone there is super professional and friendly. All the ladies who work the desk are amazing. I absolutely love that the technicians bring out your actual parts and show you the issues and confirm the work they are going to do. And it's all done at a fair price. You can not honestly ask for anything more when it comes to caring for your vehicle.

I'm currently in here now getting an oil change for my Dodge Charger. I love it here. Wonderful customer service and very loyal. I don't hesitate coming here to have work done on my car. Easily 5 star. Steve

I've never heard of a mechanic saying, "If you can afford it, you should get a new car. I wouldn't put another penny into maintenance on this car". It doesn't get any more honest or trustworthy than that folks. And they're all so nice on top of it. Our cars only go to Clavey.

I recently moved back to Illinois from living in Seattle these last 8 years and have quite a bit of work to do on my car. I was referred to Clavey and am really happy with the service they provided. They were easy to set up an appointment with and was able to do all the work (which included changing the timing belt which is a larger job) in less time than anticipated.

Plus it was half the cost than another shop quoted me. My car was so clean when I got it back too which was really nice - they even vacuumed the inside. I would definitely go back to Clavey and recommend them to anyone looking for an honest mechanic.

I usually work on my own cars in my garage so I've only had Clavey perform work a couple of times, but they offer quality service at a reasonable price. Will continue to use them in the future to outsource automotive work. Highly recommend.

They never look to nail you on something you don't need, and I have been so surprised so many times to hear them tell me I don't need something when I have used them as a second opinion to other mechanics' pricey suggestions. Nowadays, Clavey is the only place I take my car for service. If you live in Glenview or Northbrook, be sensible and support a local business like Clavey because they fix your car the right way the first time, every time.
