Asked them to change out a power steering pump, that I had already diagnosed as being bad. They did the job and didn't try to force me into letting them do their own diagnosis. Will definitely use them again. Services: Steering/Suspension, Brakes

The owner had initially stated on Friday morning that they may not be able to get to my car until Monday. However, they got the job done in the hours time. They were efficient and effective in finding the lose connector and missing clip that had caused the complete power failure. The car was ready the same day, but w had already left Elko in a rented car to complete our trip, so we won't be able to pick the car up until Monday.

This was our second experience with Clack Automotive Repair. Their repairs are professional and complete, and they keep their promises. They are extremely effective in finding the problems with automobiles, and the causes behind those problems. If you experience an automotive breakdown in northeastern Nevada, have your vehicle taken to Clack Automotive Repair. You will be thoroughly please with the results.

On my way to Colorado, I broke down in Nevada off of I-80 in the middle of the desert, because my belt had came off of my engine. I needed a quick repair to get on the road again for College, and Clack did above and beyond my expectations. The service was quick, and more importantly it was professional and of good quality, as the rest of the drive was a breeze. If you need a repair, Clack is the place.

Our car broke down between Winnemucca and Elko Nevada last Thursday, August 19th, 2021. I asked AAA to tow it to Clack Automotive Repair, because I had used their services once before, and they were fabulous. This time was even better! They found the problem, a loose connector on the engine management computer, in about half an hour, and replaced a missing clip.

We had already rented a car to continue on to Ogden, Utah, but when we returned for days later, our car had been repaired. The labor charge was more than reasonable. If you experience a car breakdown in northeastern Nevada, have your car taken to a Clack Automotive Repair.

I had my van in for an A/C diagnostic and to have a look at a coolant leak. They were able to determine the problem with the A/C and though I couldn't afford to fix that issue, they were able to diagnose the problem. That alone was more than 2 other shops had been able to do. They were also able to track down the source of the coolant leak (a bent mounting bracket punctured my radiator) and had the replacement parts ordered and installed in less than 48 hours.

Absolutely fantastic albeit a bit pricey. You get what you pay for with car repairs and I highly recommend their professional shop and friendly staff. They were knowledgeable and willing to answer questions for me as well.

We are from out of state. Our car broke down right there in elko. They aren't very friendly, and pretty pricey. Over 150$ just to tell us what's going on but luckily we were able to store the car at their location for a few weeks so we could figure out what to do with it, which I appreciated that. They also helped push the car on to the ramp so we could get it out of there. I think it would do them a lot of good if they were friendlier with people and at least pretend they want to help.

On the way to California, the fuel pump on my Porsche Cayenne went out in Wells, NV of all places. The vehicle was towed to Clack Auto Repair. John did the repairs within days of receiving the parts. I drove the car 6 hours home yesterday - no issues! Thank you, John! Service: General repairs & maintenance

Critical: Punctuality Broke down on I-80, AAA towed us to Clack. They were not concerned with checking out the car in a timely manner, and after waiting, we had it towed it to a more responsive garage that took care of us.

I recently broke down on highway 80 and was lucky enough to be towed to these guys. They were honest from the start and got be back on the road the same day! They had solid appointments already but fit me, I couldn't appreciate it more. Also being a female, I really appreciate the honesty.

First and foremost, I am sorry to hear the previous Yelpers has such a bad experience with Clack; mi e was tremendously good and would go back to them in a heart beat. Recently my truck broke down on the road causing me to be delayed for quite some time. Although there are many good restaurants around, I really needed not to be in Elko. However, after the way the people at Clack treated me, this notion soon changed.

I waited until 8:00, opening time to arrive. The first mechanic greeted me and immediately stepped into my problematic truck. I left it in his hands then. After an hour, I came back to retrieve an item; lo, and behold his diagnosis was done and the part was already in its way. My truck was in and out less than two hours for an electrical issue. After which, the mechanic thoroughly explained the issue and sent me on my merry way. Thank you Clack

Straight up guy! I don't know all the mechanics in Elko but I get the impression this is one of the few or only places that can do some real diagnostics on tough problems. The owner was up front about costs of diagnostics. Also, I was happy he was honest about his schedule, saying he couldn't work on my car til the next day. (Ever had a mechanic tell you he'd fix your car today, then it doesn't happen?

Not here, this guy is straightforward and honest.) My car broke down in the middle of nowhere, Clack is the AAA Approved Auto repair place I was towed to. I had an old junker minivan, was just trying to wrap up a road trip and didn't want to spend money. After some discussion with Mr. Clack I realized I had some more serious problems and I junked the car.

He wanted the diagnostic fee up front, I don't blame him, he's probably had many tourists with junkers abandon their cars on him. Overall I declined repairs and had the Battle Mountain salvage company (Atlas) come get it, see the review for them, they are awesome!

My 2003 fishing truck has many miles all tough. I don't need mechanical problems with it when I go to places without cell phone coverage and with very few people around. I trust Clack to keep it humming. First went there when power window failed. The temperature in town was hovering around zero. They had it fixed by the end of the day. I was grateful.

I took it back when the front end was making odd noises. They found a problem created by a repair at another dealer (not named here) and fixed it right. Then I had trouble with the engine check light coming on intermittently. They continued to work with me and test, at no charge, until they found a chafed wire in a harness. Fixed that and it is working great. I trust them to perform all of my maintenance and keep the old truck humming. Thanks guys.

Was stranded in Elko on Christmas Eve day (fuel pump went out). I called clack early in the morning and was surprised to find they were open. They said they could get to me if I could have my car there by noon (they were closing early). I had my car towed to them from the red lion motel and casino - paid lostra $100 to tow it (great guy). Had the vehicle to clack by about 10:45.

I Thanked clack for their kindness (it being Christmas Eve day and all). Took a cab back to red lion, and had lunch while i waited for them to finish. Got a call from clack at 11:30 - they hadn't looked at the vehicle - and said they wouldn't be able to until after the holidays. I've got to admit, I was absolutely stunned. They gave me no real reason for not helping me - I understand it was Christmas Eve day - but they had agreed to look at it - they knew I was having it towed - they knew I needed it before the end of the day - they agreed to look at it with all of this knowledge.

They could have turned me away initially - instead of agreeing to see my vehicle and then turning me away after I paid for the tow and wasted an entire day. I could have gone elsewhere. Well, because of this business, I spent my Christmas eve replacing my fuel pump in the cold snow covered parking lot across from the shop - while one employee watched me - as they were closing up. Worst customer service ever - don't go here!

I would give them 0 stars if I could. Firstly, they quoted me $1400 for the diagnostic, new fuel pump, a tune up, and labor. I told them to go ahead and start and they said it should be done in a day or 2. After 4 days of it being in the shop, I went in to pay and pick up my car only to find out nothing had been done as I did not pay the full bill in advance.

I said that we never agreed on that and they went on to insinuate that they did not trust me to pay the bill. When I asked why I never got a phone call about this, he replied "What, I'm supposed to call you everyday?" Excuse me!?! At this point, I'm getting more and more frustrated. Instead of apologizing about the misunderstanding, the employees (mainly a guy named John) continued to yell at me (despite my distressed state, did I mention I am pregnant?).

At that point I ask for my keys and tell them I'm going elsewhere (and telling all of my friends to as well). They say, OK but you have to pay for the diagnostic. Angrily I do. I then call around to a few shops and end up talking to Darla from H&H. What a difference! She was so sweet and told me not to stress about it and that they'd help.

I drive my car over there (which would be impossible with a broken fuel pump I find out) and they do a fuel pressure test only to find that it is fine. No low pressure, ie fuel pump is fine and Clack's straight up lied to me. They do a little more sleuthing and discover that it is a simple vacuum leak. $78 and I'm out of there and car is fine.

I can't believe that Clack's was going to swindle me out of more than $1300, how do these people sleep at nigh? DO NOT TRUST THEM! I will be calling AAA as well as the BBB to report this.

There are few things in life that cause me as much anxiety as car trouble. It's the reason I own cars that are sometimes nicer than my tax bracket. Pretty sad when the car is a 2000 Saab Convertible, but I bought it over five years ago and haven't had a single lisp in its performance. Until last week. My boyfriend and I were driving to San Francisco when the engine light went on, and then later the power steering went out just as we rolled off the Elko exit.

Not knowing anyone in Elko, we called AAA to tow the car to Clack Automotive Repair. Carless, we stayed at the Thunderbird and worried ourselves sick most of the night. I recited conversations in my head with my Dad, begging him for money. In the morning, we called a Saab mechanic in Reno, and troubleshooted the best we could via phone. At Clack, we were told it would take at least a day to work on the car, so we booked another night in Elko.

The mechanic called us and said that it was a belt problem and we could pick it up the next morning. He quoted us $355 and we were totally relieved. No calls to Dad. The next morning we picked up the car, and were told there was a problem and they'd have to reroute the belt. The mechanic explained everything to us with a detailed illustration.

A couple hours later we picked up the car--$468 total. They were friendly and the work appeared to fix our car enough to get back on the road safely. We knew it wasn't a permanent fix, but we were grateful that our car was running well enough to get us out of Elko. If you're ever stranded with a european car, you couldn't ask for a better mechanic.

These guys are great--and they're AAA Approved. Also, we suspect they gave us a break on the labor fees because we are students and being stranded for two days was costly (lodging, food, etc).
