Products & Services
Battery, Charging and Starting Systems
Cherry City Transmission is the leader in Salem for the service and fixing of auto charging systems. Our auto shop team take the time to educate our clients in knowing that the battery, starting and charging systems in their car or truck play pivotal roles in ensuring the dependable operation of your vehicle while driving. The car battery stores electrical energy that is then converted by the starter into the mechanical force needed to start your engine. The alternator then serves the purpose of producing the electrical current - initially offered by the car battery - that is necessary for the vehicle's electrical needs when the engine is running. The ignition module turns the low voltage supply to the ignition coil on and off, which in turn is converted to a higher voltage that is necessary for the vehicle's ignition system to operate. The voltage is used to engage the spark plugs and create the sparks that are necessary to ignite the combined air/fuel mixture in the car engines cylinders. It is this ignition that is ultimately used to power the pistons that in turn begin the rest of the process of powering your car or truck.

When I needed transmission work prior to coming to Cherry City Transmissions, it had never been a pleasant experience. I chose Cherry City this time for my wife's van transmission problems because of, well, a coupon offer. After talking initially to Jerry I felt that maybe this experience would be different, and it was. Work was completed prior to when it was promised. The cost was what, Jerry said it would be... and it was fixed right the first time. Since that event, I have had 3 other vehicles' transmissions serviced and again, prompt service with no hidden extra costs. This has been the only automotive expereience that I feel that anyone's wife would not be taken advantage of. Let's face it, a woman's lack of knowledge in the automotive area is often exploited. I've seen it. Got transmission problems... go with Jerry's Cherry City Transmission, you will not regret it.
When the transmission went out on my car, I did not know where to take it. I was referred to Cherry City Transmissions by our family mechanic. I checked around and found this to be the very best place. My car has a transmission that is tough to rebuild correctly. I belong to several car forums, and hear disasterous stories about transmission rebuild mishaps all the time. I was worried at first. Most guys that own cars like mine, order rebuilt transmissions from two or three rebuilders in the country, who specialize in only these transmissions. However, this is my daily driver, so I could not wait for a trans to be build and shipped across the US. Jerry (the Owner) at Cherry City Transmissions certainly does know the idiosyncrasies of my trans. The rebuild he recommended included some parts designed to correct the weak parts in my trans. It has been over two years now, and I am happy to report that my transmission is still working better than new! I am a car guy. This car has it's own web page. I work on it almost daily, so this car means a lot to me. I can safely recommend Jerry and crew at Cherry City Transmissions. They do an excellent job! They did on my car, and fit it in during the busy holiday season, and did it for a fair price. I am a lifetime Cherry City Transmissions customer!
Cherry City Transmission did a first rate job of rebuilding our 1994 Volvo transmission. Their work comes with a substantial guarantee. Jerry and his staff were quite helpful and courteous as well.
Had an issue with the manual trans in my C5 Corvette. Been having clutch issues as well. Apparently it was beyond the diagnostic skills of the dealer. Long story short, Larry at Cherry City took great care of me and my car, did exactly what he said he'd do and at exactly the price he said he'd do it at. My car has never driven better. Thanks Larry, and thanks to the whole Cherry City crew.
My experience with Cherry City was amazing. My jeep kept coming up with new issues to be address and Sophar kept me up to date and worked so professionally with me. I highly recommend this shop. They aren't just a lube shop so they take the care needed to make sure Its safe and ready for the road.
I live out of state, and these guys "owned" my transmission problem from start to finish. To start with, they coordinated my tow and put the towing costs on my invoice. During the process of looking for a transmission repair facility in Salem, I learned a lot. For one thing, other establishments prefer to simply have customers buy a new transmission or a rebuild. Cherry City rebuilds your transmission so they know what goes into it and can stand by their warranty...for approximately 25% less than quotes I got for a rebuild/new transmission. When I returned to Washington state and advised them that I had a couple minor issues to address, rather than give me the run around, they estimated what it would cost to resolve the non-critical issues there, and on the spot, put a check in the mail same day; more than fair I thought, especially under the circumstances. From Jessica in the front office, to all of the technicians I spoke with, I felt fortunate that I found these transmission experts and would gladly recommend them to anyone.
When I had the engine on my truck replaced, that shop messed up the transmission. So I took my truck to Cherry City for the tranny repair. Turned out I needed the tranny rebuilt, but I'd had it done just about a year before at another place. That first shop ripped me off-they didn't do the rebuild after all. Cherry City brought me back to show me everything and gave me the old parts (the first place never did). They even had me come back a week later for a free re-check and adjustment. They were super great-I'd been terribly ripped off by other mechanics and was pleased to find one that treated me well. It was spendy, yes, but it's been over 2 years and not a single problem.
Cherry city transmissions was accommodating and went above and beyond to help me out with my car. Had a problem with my distributor, fuel ignition and fuel filters and they fixed the problem in a timely manner. My car is running so smoothly and I fully recommend that you check this place out! Sophar, the manager, is an amazing guy and is more than willing to help you out! Go see them!
