I give Canyon Auto 3 stars because they got the job done. I can't give it higher for several reasons: It took much longer than expected, but sounds like it was a difficult repair and ultimately they needed Audi's help to diagnose the underlying problem. Also, rarely does anyone pick up the phone. They will get back to you, eventually. Once you go in person though, everyone there is amiable and helpful.

They are also true to their word and honest. They also do provide a car to use if yours is under repair for a prolonged period, but note that the cars they loan to you aren't what you'd expect from an Enterprise Rental. Overall, I'd give them another chance and am hoping that my experience was a one off. Again, honesty in a small business is huge, and they were.

Came in for a 60k service for my Subaru outback, very quick and much less than other mechanics in the area!

Jim and his team are sound mechanics who deliver prompt and quality work at a fair price. This is enough for me to keep doing business with him. But on top of that, Jim is focused on giving good financial advice. I'd go so far as to say that he takes a fiduciary role (for car repairs) in that he has discouraged me from doing work that he thinks isn't worthwhile (such as replacing a battery prematurely) or today he recommended that I take a small key problem to a key shop where they would charge less. I personally recommend you take your car to Canyon.

Good people! very helpful and considerate, I had bad experience with shops in my time but this shop text me and lets me know the status of the work through text. Definitely new to this experience. I came to Portland to spend time with some family for thanksgiving, even though it was the holidays they worked me in there schedule and they got it done. So thanks to the canyon auto repair shop I'm able to make it home safe stress free.

I'm a first-time used car buyer and Jim at Canyon Auto has helped me avoid buying two lemons so far--once by doing a pre-purchase inspection for me and once just by answering my questions about the car on the phone. A good, honest mechanic shop on a street peppered with used car lots is worth their weight in gold. Thanks for your help! I'll definitely be back.

Had a bit of a struggle to fix the A/c on my f150. I wasn't completely satisfied so I called Jim back and told him. This is a great, honest auto repair shop. I have taken my 1999 Honda Accord here a few times in the last 3 years and have been impressed each time by the customer service the owner, mechanics, and technicians display. For example, the first time I stopped by the shop, the mechanic noticed my car was low on oil. He added a pint or two and that resolved the issues I had observed.

He wouldn't accept payment for diagnostic services or the oil and just suggested I bring it back the next time I need any work done. So you better believe I've been bringing it back ever since, even just for routine oil changes. I've received excellent customer service every time and can trust the repairs and maintenance work advised.

They were so willing to fit me in the very next day to replace my battery on my hybrid, when the dealership said it would be a 10 day wait! They were helpful and honest- they never even suggested to upcharge me for anything that I did not need. I will DEFINITELY recommend them and they are now my 'Go to Auto Repair' Services: Battery, Electrical

I brought my car in because I couldnt figure out what the issue was and they diagnosed it in under 20 minutes. minus a wait period for the piece to come in, this group was punctual, informative and answered any questions I had. All of this for a fair price. High recommend them if you need some help with your car.

I brought both my vehicles in for possible repairs. Jim is one of the most knowledgeable and honest service repair manager's I have dealt with. After the inspection of both cars there were numerous problems, but rather than trying to sell me repairs, he explained that they would run more than the car might be worth in the long run. I wasn't charged for the work they did. I would recommend this shop to anyone and will return there whenever I need service.

I received such honest work from Canyon Auto that it would be a crime to not share my experience. I had been to a different mechanic shop in Beaverton, that charged $120 for a very subpar inspection, and ID'ed an issue that had already been resolved (years ago). They wanted to charge me $800 for a water pump replacement that wasn't needed. I shopped around and Canyon Auto was the best quote at 1/2 the cost.

Shortly after dropping off my car, they called me confused as to why I thought the work needed to be done. I shared that I had been told this work was urgent due to a leak. They said there wasn't a leak. They proceeded to complete a much more thorough inspection for FREE. In the end I paid very little for needed routine maintenance, and am grateful to find an honest mechanic shop. I couldn't recommend them more highly.

I suggested my son take my Honda Element to this shop to replace the electric window motor because it was listed as a AAA certified shop and offered a 10% discount on labor. They presented a quote/work order but neither my son or the shop discussed AAA discount. I told my son to ask about it when it was time to pay and whoever was collecting the money said he would have had to say something prior to acknowledging the work order. Really?

That's pretty cheap and shady! Do they do something different if there is a AAA discount involved? Not impressed. With that said, the issue is fixed and my son said they did it pretty quickly so in fairness this is a 3 star review! I won't be using this shop again though! I like taking my business where they look out for the customer and try to help them save money any way possible.

I had an amazing experience at Canyon Auto in Beaverton. My Subaru Forester needed quite a bit of work done on it, including new head gaskets, valves, serpentine belts, timing belt tensor, spark plugs, etc. I spoke with Jim and he told me to bring it by and they would give me a quote. The quote I received was cheaper than any other place in the area, and the quality of work was exceptional.

I was out of a car for about a week but Jim updated me frequently on the status of my Forester. I got the car back and it's running better than it ever has in the four years I've owned it. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this shop to anyone.

I had a very simple request that had been quoted at a very high price from another service shop. The team at Canyon was very accommodating and much cheaper. They were able to replace the part quickly and in the same day that I reached out to them. Thank you guys!

I was very disappointed. I thought they where great they where recommend by a friend. Then I took my vehicle to Les Schwab to get tires and I asked them to replace the break pads canyon said I needed. Turns out I didn't need any of the work they recommend or completed done. I spent 2000 dollars in repairs. Being a single mom with three teenagers that money could have been used elsewhere. horrible They told me I needed brake pads that had not been done because I couldn't afford it. Les said didn't need them.

I have the paperwork where you go on to say I need more work that was not done. They said I need none of it! So did I really need any work in the first place. Yes they saw you did work. I can't trust this place

I've used Canyon for work on my truck on several occasions and they've been great every time. Jim has been incredibly helpful, and I trust him to tell me when work needs to be done and when it doesn't. My truck is also a bit unusual, and not the easiest to work on, so it's great to find a shop that will work on it at a competitive price. The work has always seemed to be done well and they've been awesome about turning it around quickly. All in all a great shop, I'm really glad I've found them.

I took my truck in to have the right wheel bearing replaced. I knew what was wrong with it when I took it in. They said they would need to drive it and evaluate it. They kept it overnight and said that I needed new brake calipers and rotors too. I took their advice and had them repair all of it. I picked it up drove it home the wheel bearing is still making noise so I call them.

The manager says that he's busy he'll have to look at my records and call me back. Never does. I finally got tired of it and just took it to Les Schwab and let them fix it for me that way I know it will be done right. I will never trust this shop. You can literally tell them what's wrong and then not fix it.

Ive been in twice now and have researched my issue/s ahead of time. I have never felt uneasy about the explanations offered by Jim, the manager. The shop is timely and has a quick turn around. Costs are reasonable for all vehicles. Professionalism is great! I highly recommend this shop, which is located adjacent to Hwy 217 in a small alley.

I bought a 1989 Chevy S10 truck, took it in to get a once over and have some work done on it, as it hadn't been cared for much by previous owners. Had shocks replaced, bearings, serpentine belt, turn signals fixed, ignition key replaces and brake fluid flush and oil changed. Jim gave me a great price and often managed to find a way to lower the price just a bit without compromising on quality.

The car handles much better and is a much smoother and safer ride for what a great classic truck it is. I have really appreciated both Jim and Hans kind, funny attitudes throughout the process. I am not a car expert, but Jim was great in explaining what the benefits of the work would be without speaking down to me, as often happens with car shops, when I asked questions. It was a great learning experience for me and i would trust them to work on my truck again in the future.

They fixed up my wifes car very good. It was done professionally, quickly and very cost effective! Best of all they offer a 100 day same as cash financing option! I would definitely take our vehicles here again! Thank you guys very much!

Fantastic service beginning with my first interaction. When I called to schedule an inspection on a car I planned to buy, I was greeted with friendly and accommodating service over the phone. When I brought my car in I felt welcome and as though I was a priority. The service offered was helpful and honest - plus a very good deal. If you want to have your vehicle looked at and repaired by real and honest people, this is a great place to go!

Canyon Auto Repair is a busy shop meaning they are trusted with peoples very important mode of transportation, as evident of my first visit at the beginning of the year for maintenance and repair indicator lights. I was in a bind for its was the 30th of December and was asked to leave my Honda Civic for test and repair determination. However, I needed to have a way to my job on Monday very early.

The resourceful folks Garret and Kevin at Canyon Auto Repair have a rental vehicle that I was lucky to have been able to use while my vehicle was in repair. I waited a few cycles for the light to turn off and I'm confident on future repairs in this shop. The car is currently running nicely. I feel treated respectfully and fairly. I will post any concerns in terms of follow ups, with the stubborn indicator light(s). Thanks for reading.

Nothing but good to say about this shop. The owner Lee is one of the most accommodating people I have experienced. In being in a car accident in my brand new car, he was very comforting in a time when I was very upset and made sure to help me out with insurance, loaner car during the repair time and even helped me with the auto adjuster. He even offered to take time out of his hectic day and offer to take me to lunch.

During the repair time, he frequently updated me on the status of my car. As well as the car notifications, Lee personally notified me of more information before my insurance company. If you ever need any service, I vouch for this shop and it's employees. 2017 BMW 330i xDrive

Came in for a routine oil change and got the $25 off for being a new customer! Service was pretty quick considering I was a walk-in. Would recommend!

If you are looking for a fair, friendly fast trustworthy auto repair shop, go no further than Canyon Auto Repair. It's just that simple.

BEWARE! I wouldn't even give one star, Lee (the owner) is a scam artist! I had called requesting a price on a rebuilt engine, and I was told $4,000.00 but for some reason I ended up being charged over $7,000.00. Then, come to find out hey put a USED (not re-built) engine in my car, when my receipt says REBUILT! I had wondered why I needed to pay another $1,500 for a new PCM (computer)? Oh, because the engine was another cars engine, not the rebuilt engine that I paid for.

They also didn't replace the motor mounts that were bad, nor did they advise me they needed replacement. My mounts broke completely on my way to California and my car is now requiring a new transmission because of them not replacing mounts and brackets which would have shown to be bad at the time of replacing the engine. ALSO my axle is now broken because of the engine moving too much due to broken brackets.

My windshield was cracked after repairs were done and there were significant damages to my cars exterior. I would not recommend them for anything! Even if other reviews state he's "prompt and courteous" doesn't mean the work will be what you are paying for! TRUST ME I LEARNED THE HARD WAY, GOOD REVIEWS ON SMALL JOBS DOESN'T MEAN THEY WILL DO A GOOD JOB ON EVERYTHING! SCAMMMER!

Second time ive called for work on my car and they can never give me a price for the work. Each time i have called they say that they are gana call me back for a quote. They are just a waste of time. I could have gotten my car fixed a long time ago. I work alot so i cant just go whenever i feel like it. So i waited for a call back an never got one. I guess they are not about there money or do they keep their word. I almost never do bad reviews but i dont like getting the run around. Very unprofessional.

There was a dangerous knocking noise in my car whenever I accelerated. It felt and sounded like the frame might actually break. I took my car to two places who couldn't find the problem Canyon Auto Repair -- my third stop -- figured it out in 10 minutes. And it was very dangerous. The person who changed the timing belt years ago failed to screw the engine mount down in all three places.

So one screw was missing, another attachment was broken, and the engine vibrated on acceleration because it was being held down by only one screw. If this attachment had broken, I would have been in very serious trouble. The guys at Canyon Auto Repair had it all repaired in two days. They checked my car over and found nothing else to fix! I was so grateful for this honesty, because I had been using a shop that always found things to recommend fixing. I knew they were ripping me off. I'm so happy to have found Canyon Auto Repair. They are honest, courteous, and reasonably priced. I will trust them in the future.

This is the only place that I trust taking my Lexus to! Knowing that I will be treated well, my car will be fixed in a timely manner and for a reasonable price. Working with Garrett has been a pleasure as he is always kind, professional and very knowledgeable. I highly suggest taking your vehicle here if you want to know that your car is in good hands!

Aside from being really expensive they don't honor the work they do, my engine cover wasn't reinstalled correctly from a previous repair and hot air and fumes from engine compartment were allowed to enter the drivers compartment. During the latest repair the van was raised by the frame which unloaded the suspension and during this time the spring shackle rotated almost 90 degrees, it's quite visible from outside the vehicle and i can't help but notice if something is wrong, it wasn't like that when i brought it in but was twisted when it came back out, i was told that happened while i was driving which is not possible, i was told they would have to charge me 1/2 labor to repair something they messed up, this did not go over well with me since they were the last ones to touch that shackle.

This is my much-belated review. My Mazda overheated in November and needed to be towed. A tire store next to where I broke down recommended Canyon Auto. After much poking around, it was discovered I would need a new engine (gulp!). They found a used engine for us and gave us a quote. All the staff at Canyon Auto were patient with us as we hummed and hawed, and weren't sure about spending that much money on a 7 yr old car.

They kept us updated every step of the way and were all very courteous and friendly. Car has had the "new to us" engine for almost 2 months now, and it works like a champ so far. No issues even with the cold we've been having. Highly recommend canyon for service and friendliness and how willing they were to work with us!

I contacted this place through Yelp. Within minutes Lee, the owner, wrote back to me telling me to come in the next day for an estimate. I had already called about 5 repair shops in the area and they were booked out two weeks. I had a short time frame and Lee was able to accommodate. Not only did they quote less than the other places I talked to, my car looked fantastic.

One of the workers walked me through everything they quoted me for and told me how they would fix certain things. For someone who does not understand vehicles all that much, this was super helpful. I would definitely recommend this shop. They do great things. Lee will take good care of you.

I was quoted a price of $1600 to repair my automobile. When I came to pick it up, which took ten days, I was then told it would be $2300. When I expressed the unfairness of the situation Mr. Nguyen (the owner) started screaming at me. He tried to put the blame on one of his employees for not keeping us informed. We finally came to an agreement after almost an hour of Mr. Nguyen verbally berating me to pay WAY more than we deserved to. This is not a professional person and I warn you to go anywhere else.
