Boyden & Perron Boyden & Perron Garage, Inc. was founded in 1956 by Ted Boyden and Ed Perron to provide reliable automotive repairs and sell gasoline. Together they earned a reputation for being good mechanics with honesty and integrity in their repair business. During the 1950's, the modern convenience of motorized "power" lawn mowers were becoming popular and replacing the old fashion "reel" mower.

So, by 1962 many of Ted & Ed's customers were asking if they could also repair a power lawn mower. Ed's two sons, Don (age 10) and Tom (age 8) would work after school repairing any lawn mowers that might have come in that day.

I would not recommend this place to single women. Poor communication, terrible attitude, patronizing and rude. I asked him to look at one thing and when I came back he had removed something else from my car and told me that it would get rid of "that rattle" (there had been no rattle). He had forgotten to look into the wire I had asked him about. As soon as I drove my car again, it was making terrible grinding and rattling noises.

I called back to see if he would look. At it again and he yelled at me that it was a coincidence and he wasn't going to be roped into any free repairs! I had not asked for any free repairs! Just insight into what happened, wanting my car to be safe, hoping I could bring it in to have a nut tightened or loosed from whatever I requested modification he had made.

Had my vehicle inspection done. They were able to make minor repairs so my car passed.

Fair people, honest service. I would go back to them again. If you're looking for riding lawn mower repair and lawn tractor repair or a new mower I would definitely recommend checking them out. They stand behind their machines. Thank you Ed.

I went to Boyden and Perron after a brake job on my Toyota; I had it done at Greenfield Toyota, and they did fine. But my low beam headlights were not working. I inspected the fuses: they were fine. Next stop, Lia Toyota in Northampton. I had heard bad things about them. The tech there told me.$140 to DIAGNOSE the problem, maybe more. Just as I expected.

I turned around. I had heard great things about B+P: my wife had seatbelts installed there. I first met a very taciturn, quiet guy (Sam?), who listened. He directed me to Joe. Very warm and funny. He popped the hood in the parking lot. He said, "it is never only one". Huh? He was talking about the headlight bulbs. I figured if it was a bad bulb, one headlight would be working, one would not.

But he said nobody ever notices the first bulb burning out. Long story short, he had it done in less than five minutes. (I know, I probably could have done it myself.) the bulbs cost $35, "his boss" said everything would be $60. A bargain in my book. Joe was hilarious, cracking jokes, very friendly, pleasant, chatty. (a very funny contrast between the two, the other mechanic is quiet, with a dry, sly humor). Jow also said "saying number two: stay away from Lia".

And wow he was right. I told him he was quite honest, and he said "yeah, sometime too honest", wistfully. They cannot do everything on every car. But they can do quite a lot (brakes, steering etc.) and if they cannot do it, they will be honest. They know what they do not know. Very professional, skilled, friendly; I'll go there for all my car repairs that they can handle.

Phenomenal Communication, great customer service. Our local Landscaping company relies on the service that we get here. Always responsive, reasonably priced and will go above and beyond to help you.

I'd love to leave a good review but just can't do it. Yes, everyone is shorthanded these days, including Boyden and Perron, but I left my equipment for service in March and had to pick it up yesterday (7 weeks later) and take it elsewhere. The biggest problem is that I was not told the truth for all of this time. When I dropped it off, I was told that it would be about a 2-week turnaround time.

Every time I called, I was told it would be 2-3 weeks because it was a busy time. Yesterday, I was finally told that they really didn't know when it was going to be serviced because the mechanic had left. Had they leveled with me in the beginning, I'd have been able to make different decisions, especially at this busy time of year at our farm. I can't recommend this business any more.

Nice, old-timey place. Service is slow. I understand being thorough, but guy who does inspections was super rude. Seems to take weird pride/joy in rejecting customers on inspections. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE TO BE INSPECTED!

I can't say enough good things about this place. I was in a tough spot from miles away. I contacted Don regarding an issue regarding a car. Don was he able to help me work through the issue over the phone, and when i arrived a few days later he continued to be extremely helpful. Everyone in the shop/office was extremely nice as well. it's encouraging to see that there are still businesses out there like this. I only wish i lived closer so i could give them more of my work!

I've had my Sienna, Passat, Outback and Altima serviced and inspected by Joe and Don for years. They're both knowledgeable, honest and straight-talking. They seem to be able to handle anything on any car, and they also take care of my tire switches each season. The prices are absolutely reasonable with no dealership padding. I also appreciate speaking with the actual mechanic, not the repair shop "management". Thanks guys.

I'm not one to write negative reviews for several reasons, but this one is well earned. Their service is unreliable and they seem to underestimate the value of potential new customers. They over-promise and under-deliver. I am new to the area, so it was my first time dealing with this company. Since my riding mower is in need of maintenance, and they are in the same town as myself, I called them two days ago and scheduled for them to pick it up today at 2:00 pm.

By 2:30 I called and was reassured that the driver may be running late. So I waited. Patiently. By 5:30 I called and was told that the driver had gone for the day and that he had told them that the mower was not out by 11 am so it (the mower) was therefore not collected. OK. First of all the voice message from the driver the previous day confirmed to me that the pick up would occur at 2 pm today. Second, no one told me that the mower had to be out waiting for it to be picked up. Moreover, I would not leave it out to be picked up: it is a riding mower and they will need the key, therefore I am not as naive to assume there is no risk of it being stolen with the ignition key in the switch.

Let us assume that is the case, that I would leave the mower outside. Is it that difficult to ring the door bell? But that is besides the point since 11 am was not the agreed time. At any rate, the lady at the other end of the line, admittedly courteous, proposed during my second call at 5:30 pm proposed that my mower be picked up next week. Talk about taking responsibility for their own mistakes!

It will take me less time to find someone else with a more reliable time management skill set, and who are more considerate towards their customers' own time. In fact it will take me less time to do the maintenance work myself. Oh but wait, this company ought to have the time management skill set and infrastructure since they claim to have been in this line of business for as long as they have. Hmmm.

Time to consider personnel change, one that communicates between themselves. Or perhaps a change in their line of business. As far as I'm concerned I do not want to do business with a firm that underestimates the value of their future clients' time, and overestimates their management skills. Over-promising and under-delivering some people call it.

Bought an old used Toro mower and needed help getting the deck off. They spent 10 minutes with me on the phone walking me through the steps so I could get it off. Above and beyond. Later in the season I brought it in to get blades sharpened and other service. Could not have been more pleased with their work or their customer service. They really know their stuff and are happy to share knowledge. An A1 place.

It's extremely hard to find a "real" Toro dealer anymore. I have an older tractor. These guys are great. Not only are they happy to provide advice but will actual show you how to install parts purchased from them. You can't put a price on knowledge. I have never been disappointed with their mower service or advice.

I patronized this business for many years, both for servicing my car and for mowing equipment and repair. I always got excellent, competent service and treatment at fair prices and they stand behind their work. Doesn't get better.

Boyden and Perron is a great local business. I find it I can trust them for straight, honest advice, and they are always willing to help. The wait time for repairs can be long especially during Peak Seasons, but that'sbecause they're so highly regarded and so trusted by so many people here.

I will not come here again, because of the demeaning way the car inspector spoke to me, quite unprovoked. Another man at work there was kind, so that is appreciated. I would support your business, but not if I am immediately treated as if I were an idiot.

This is a review for the vehicle inspection only. Great service and really fast. If there's no one ahead of you, the inspection is done in 10-15 mins! The mechanic isn't particularly chatty, but he gets the job done. Standard $35 for a MA inspection.

We bought a Toro lawnmower when they told us the old one was too expensive to fix. When we tried to use the new one and it didn't work, they wanted to direct us to fix it in our driveway. Now we have to hoist it into the car and take it there so we can have a brand new repaired lawnmower for more than $600. If you're smart, you'll forget about Toro and about Boyden and Perron. I wish I could.

The folks at B&P are among the most helpful and knowledgable; any time you value expertise along with your purchase, (which is most of the time when dealing with autos or yard equipment).

This place is terrible. The mechanic is unbelievably awkward, demeaning, and not at all helpful. I took my car for inspection, it was failed, for an unbelievable reason. They also 'forgot' to tell me that if I brought it back in 30 days I wouldn't have ton pay for a new inspection. Don't give them your business.

Looking for an HONEST mechanic? These guys are the best - AND - they will treat you well, even if you don't have man-parts.* I recently brought in my car for a checkup, and they called to clarify my notes that I left before even starting work. *For example, they will never try to tell you that your fuel-injected car's carburator needs replacing just because you have boobs. Unfortunately, this is a true story.

If you live in the area and you need any lawn or simialr power equipment, this is where you go. Don't go to Home Depot or Walmart any of the big box stores as they don't have the service that these folks provide. They may be slightly more expensive but in the long run, they have the support to back it all up.
