I've been to Auto Plus several times for routine maintenance and it's been perfect each time. I like the folksy, relaxed feel to the place and everyone is always very nice. Prices are great, too!

Went to Auto Plus for an oil change yesterday. Mechanic forgot to put the oil fill cap back on after he was done. Oil ended up splashing all over my air intake and on the engine. My check engine light came on and I had to buy more oil and a fill cap. Called them back, talked to both the woman at the front desk and the mechanic. I was very kind in explaining what had happened.

Their only suggestion for reconciliation was for me to drive back to their shop tomorrow and they would top it off with oil. I told them that I live over 30 miles away, that this was an unprofessional mistake, and that I would prefer a refund rather than additional service. They were very rude and refused to provide a refund. I am now disputing the charge with my credit card company and will never recommend their service to anyone.

For a place with as many signs about treating the customer right, they really don't live by that rule. Feel free to check out my Yelp review for pictures of their mistake as well.

Work was completed as quoted but the bill was manipulated to make that happen. I was quoted a God-awful amount of labor ($800), and questioned their need for so many hours. I know for a fact they did the job in about 90 minutes, because my uncle works across the street and watched them do it. I still got billed for the same price because they charged over $500 for a part that can be gotten for $180 at NAPA.

I payed the bill though with a good attitude and thanked them for fixing it. As I left, I started the vehicle and immediately found that the back-up camera did was no longer working. I went back in to ask if they could keep it one more day to see what might have happened - figuring it would be no big deal and that things like that sometime happen.

I stayed very nice, calm, and professional throughout my conversation - because I have been in these uncomfortable situations before. The guy at the desk was calm as well. However, the guy that worked on the vehicle got unexplainably defensive when I simply asked them to consider if it was possible they severed one of the wires to the camera (or something else).

He immediately began arguing (loudly) that the camera "was not working when I brought the vehicle in". I explained and showed him that the camera had a dedicated switch, so he wouldn't know if it was working or not (that meant he was lying when he said he knew it was already broke). He then said "I know, that is what I am saying, I never touched your switch so how could I have broken the camera".

So I would say, "touching the switch won't break the camera but how can you say it wasn't working if you didn't know about the switch?", and he would then respond, "that is what I am saying, I couldn't break the camera by touching the switch so it wasn't working when you brought it in". We went in that circle for about 5 minutes but he never changed his defensive attitude and never acknowledged any possibility of responsibility.

The other shop guy (the one that manages the desk) eventually apologized on his behalf and gave the excuse that he was having a bad day. I remained nice and calm and conceded that it was entirely possible that the camera coincidentally failed while sitting on their lot, but they refused to acknowledge or concede that maybe they accidentally did something to break it.

They suggested I leave and figure it out myself and call back so that they could "go from there". In the end I found that the 12v wire feed under the dash was pulled loose. I near the location they hooked up a test unit when they worked on bleeding my brakes. Numerous other little things took place in the argument as well. Overall, one guy was loud and defensive and the other guy was calm, condescending, and was just happy to have my money.

They had zero problem letting me leave to investigate the camera myself, and I had zero problem writing this review knowing that I paid them over $1,000 for two fixes that went very easy for them, and a surreal argument over a pulled 12v wire.
