Alternative Autoworx, LLC was started in 1998 after I had finished with a short stint at my second Subaru dealership. Starting in 1976, I worked at some really good garages and a couple of completely dishonest garages, both independent and factory dealerships. In 1998 I decided it was time to use the knowledge I had gained to start a fair priced and humbly honest garage of my own. The goal was to provide my customers with an honest alternative to the higher priced and not always trustworthy garages and dealerships.
At Alternative Autoworx we believe that by treating our customers and their Subarus right we can earn their trust and not only will they return to us, but they will refer friends and family who might be looking for auto repair and maintenance. Head gaskets are probably one of the most talked about issues with Subarus at this time. If you want to burn up hours, just Google "Subaru Head Gaskets" & be prepared to get barraged by blogs, web sites, & a bunch of stuff (some good & some not so good). Bottom line is; Subaru head gasket repair is not cheap if done right, but could cost you an engine if left ignored.
This is a picture of the most common Subaru engine, the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder. This engine can be found in all 2000-2010 Subaru Outbacks, Legacys, Impreszas, and Foresters, and later on some models. If your car is a turbo or an H6 a lot of these principals will be the same but the costs are higher. This is a picture of a Subaru upper idler pulley on the passenger side of the engine.

Autoworx is the best. I had a very positive and informational experience bringing my Toyota Highlander Hybrid in for them to look at. As a young woman, when I have brought vehicles to other mechanics/auto repair stores, I haven't always been given information about my vehicle in a way that has been helpful. Jesse and Bobby were respectful, kind, and truly helpful in how they communicated all of the information (multiple important issues) going on with my vehicle.
They are personable, very knowledgable, and impartial when giving advice/information about what I should do moving forward with my Toyota. I plan to return there with any of my car needs, and recommend them very highly to everyone else looking for good vehicle support!

This was my first visit. I was impressed by the knowledge of the staff, the friendliness, and by what they didn't do. Based upon a visit to another repair shop for a previous oil change, I was advised that the rear brake pads needed to be replaced soon. However, Alternative Autoworx said I had another 10K miles of wear left. Thanks for not selling me a service I didn't need today.

These guys don't just specialize in in Subaru, they specialize in LOVE. It took me 5 years to take my Forester back to this shop, because I do a lot of my own work. I went in to get diagnostics on my car after killing in up in the mountains. I got a lot of bad news, but I had the honest truth when I left. I had the car towed in, and drove it home with piece of mind. My bad news was east coast weather made my repairs on the brink of imposable. But they told me. I love these guys!
