I had an unfortunate accident with my car (vw jetta gli) where the parking brake was not engaged fully so my car rolled down my driveway and collided with a tree. This left damage to my front bumper, drivers side fender, and drivers side fog light. AK automotive gave me the best estimate compared to another body shop next door. When I entered, the owner greeted me and treated me with kindness and respect.

He accompanied his technician and I to see my car and evaluate the damage which I appreciated. The sheet he provided which summarized my estimate was very straightforward, clearly outlining what I would be charged for in parts paint and labor. The other shop gave me a several page long estimate full of convoluted terms and charges. AK Automotive gave me no fine print charges just clear honest business!

I dropped my car off the same day and they had it done two days later! They replaced my front bumper and driver's side fender, replaced my fog light and painted my front bumper, drivers side fender, and door. The paint job is a perfect match! My car looks brand new as they also gave it a nice wash! They charged me exactly what the estimate stated.

They also ended up not needing a part for the repair so they deducted the price of that part from my total. I could not be more satisfied with my experience with AK Automotive. The owner seems to take pride in his business and gives fair and honest pricing for services. The technicians are professional and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions (i had many).

I hope to not need car repairs anytime soon, but I will certainly do business with AK automotive in the future if I do need them. I would absolutely recommend this Business to anyone! Thank you!

Extremely honest work for a good price. He gave me a price for the body work I needed, and true to his word, didn't charge a cent over it. Even when it turned out the actual repair was far more expensive and he had to buy and replace a few light housing on my car as well. I'd recommend him to anyone I know who needs body repairs in the area. I almost felt like I was the one ripping him off once I realized that instead of just popping out some dents, he went ahead and bought a whole new hood for my car, painted it, and waxed it all for no additional cost to what he had given me. He knows the value of a good reputation and his happy customers can stand by that.

New to the area so relied on the reviews here to find a reputable place to repair my automobile. As they say, buyer beware. Received a quote for the repairs and was told not to worry, I would be taken care of. It was just before Christmas and I needed the car finished before I had to leave town for the holidays. Dropped the car off on Monday and needed it back in 10 days.

I called following the insurance adjusters visit to the shop and was told everything went well and parts were on order. I called again at least 3 other times to check on the progress and to make sure everything was fine. Each time was told everything was fine and no problems. I went to pick it up the day before leaving town for the holidays and had to sit in the office for over an hour while they put the final touches on the repairs. Spoke with the owner on and off while waiting, and when the car was ready and I was ready to settle up with the payment to get my car back, suddenly there was a problem. Was told the insurance adjuster required additional parts to be replaced and I had to pay $400 more than the estimate. Was told I was getting a good deal because it cost him more. Was provided no specifics or paperwork on the additional parts.

This "problem" was never mentioned when I called and spoke with the owner after the insurance adjuster inspected the car. It was never mentioned in any of the numerous calls I placed to check on the progress with the repairs during the 10 days it was in the shop. Now at 5:30pm the evening before I'm leaving town for the holidays, I have to pay an additional $400 to get my car back.

If this was a legitimate cost then why was it not disclosed when I spoke with him after the insurance adjuster left his shop after his inspection? He also had the opportunity to disclose the additional cost during our numerous conversations when I called several times to check on the progress. Nope, everything was fine, no problems. Now I find myself in what felt like a hostage situation with my car hours before leaving town for the holidays. SHAME ON YOU! I gave two stars because the technician making the repairs did good work. The business ethics of the owner not as impressive. So I'll end as I started.buyer beware.

Great auto body shop, I needed my car back ASAP after a fender bender and they got my car back to me fast, they would have done it even faster if it wasn't for the slow insurance company that had to come out twice just to approve this bumper damage. Most of all my car looks like new and that's all I wanted besides it done quick cause it's my only form of transportation. I completely recommend them!

My 2003 Toyota Tacoma had previously been repainted after striking a deer about 10 years ago and the paint job on that side of the truck was looking really worn. In addition, I had rust on the front and back bumpers. I had done my homework and had received quotes to paint my entire truck from other establishments in the past, but all were very high.

After reading the reviews on this site, I took a leap of faith and contacted AK Automotive. To my surprise, they gave me a very reasonable quote and I decided to have them do the work. To reference one of the other reviews, they absolutely knocked the ball out of the park! My truck looked brand new -- like it did when I drove it off of the dealer's lot. With that said, I highly recommend AK Automotive.

I absolutely would NOT recommend this shop. My car had body damage from an accident, but the end result was not at all satisfactory. The finishing was horrible (the panels were misaligned, they spray painted over plastic parts that didn't need to be painted, there were gaps between all the panels they took off and replaced). I had to point out these issues to them. Worst of all, they charged me an extra several hundred dollars to fix these sort of basic issues (which they should have been careful of in the first place). I would strongly suggest that you look elsewhere for even the most basic body work for your car.

It's rare to find the vital combination of exceptional service, great repairs, and reasonable price but Waseem at AK knocked the ball outta the park on all three! I had a multiple scratches two of them deep in the plastic bumper and chips in my 2015 Toyota Tacoma--and got tired of seeing them every time I got into my truck. A friend of a colleague recommended AK and the recommendation was spot on. Waseem and team made my pickup look like new again. And in area of damage on my truck they could have tried to upsell me -- but didn't. Integrity! Highly recommend AK.

Dropped by for an estimate and they repaired the scratch within a half hour for a very reasonable price.

I had a small dent in my bumper and got several estimates. AK was by far the cheapest. They did a great job and had my car back to me very quickly. They even gave me a ride from the shop. I would highly recommend going to AK. I hope I never need to, but I would definately come back.

I live in Alexandria but was driving to Dulles yesterday to pick someone up at the airport. During this time, I heard a noise coming from the front of my car. Scared something might be seriously wrong, I googled the closest mechanic. I ended up here, at AK automotive in Sterling. I had no appointment and it was 1 p.m. on a Saturday. They looked busy but took me right in!

They said the front ball bearings on the car needed to be replaced and they were happy to do it that day. The owner drove us to a local shopping mall so we could get something to eat and returned to the shop to fix my car. The owner recommended an excellent restaurant where we had a great meal. Although the repair took longer than expected, the shop owner was friendly and helpful.

The repair took a little over 5 hours; however, because the owner originally quoted 3 hours, he only charged me for 3. In addition, he pointed out some things on my car. The previous week I took my car to a mechanic in Alexandria to get my brakes redone (all 4 rotors and brake pads). The owner of AK informed me that the brake pads were really cheap and would not last as long as good brake pads.

I figured something was wrong because the brakes were not any better after getting them redone. He also quoted me a price (for in the future) for all four rotors and pads before hearing what I paid in Alexandria and it was $200 less. In addition, the owner of AKs said my tires really needed to be rotated because they were wearing on the front in a weird way, probably due to the ball bearings.

He rotated my tires for free. Why I'm really mad is that the mechanics in Alexandria said they rotated my tires last week - which they obviously did not. Anyway, AKs is amazing! Friendly service and the owner obviously knows his stuff! I will only be taking my car here in the future.

I live in Arlington, VA but my client is located in Herndon, VA. Last week I was parking at the garage next to the office and the unforeseen happened. In an attempt to park my car in a tiny lot, I scratched my passenger's door heavily against a huge pillar and managed to indent it in three points as well. Yes, my morning started out great. Anyway, right after the accident I started frantically looking for an auto repair store in Herndon, VA.

I personally can't stand having my car look beaten up and I wanted to remediate the accident as soon as possible. I called a place in the area that had the best reviews but they said they could not help and redirected me to AK Automotive. the person on the phone said they AK was great and I would be happy with them! So, I called AK right away and scheduled an appointment for consultation.

I got there at lunch time and spoke to the owner. Abdul looked at my vehicle. He explained to me what was needed, the timeline and the process. He gave me a very believable quote and a reasonable time of execution too. I left my car on the spot and agreed to proceed. Abdul also offered to drive me back to work, instead of me cabbing! How nice is that?

Two days later I went back and my car was like new, better than new actually! The paint and body work was flawless and the level of care and details was amazing. As a bonus, they also sanded and repainted of the bumper (where I had some light scratches) which was not part of the quote! Also, my car was as clean as sparkly as the first day I got it.

They gave me a detailed wash that was completely unexpected and very welcomed! That to me is going above and beyond. It's not just the repair work that will make me go back. It's the level of attention and customer care, along with very fair prices. If you need an auto repair salon, this is your place. Give it a shot! I am very happy with overall experience with this shop. Very nice ppl who will explain problem/solution thoroughly and patiently, very friendly, offer reasonable pricing compared to others, won't misguided you, and gets things done efficiently. They even give you ride in close proximity.

When I lived in Fairfax, this was my go to car repair shop. They've also been my parent's preferred place to fix up their jalopies. They've always treated me fairly and given me pretty good prices on any major repairs. They even did a state inspection for me even though I had arrived past their inspection hours. I have a couple issues, however, the biggest is that its a huge pain to get in and out of their parking lot.

This is due to their location (across the street from Pan Am Shopping Center/a Route 66 exit). This will only get worse now that there is an utterly unnecessary Walgreens that opened up nearby. My other issue is that it is sometimes hard for me to understand what they are saying due to their Thai accent/my American accent. It's no big deal, but it can be a little frustrating. This doesn't seem to be a problem for their Thai clientele. Anyhow, if you're in the area and need anything from an inspection to a major fix, go here.
