I won't take my truck anyplace else. They aren't cheap but you know exactly what you're getting and they tell you all the details for you to make a good decision: necessary, recommended, monitor, or don't touch.

Another trip to AG Diesel for oil & filters replacement. As always they were up front with pricing, they provided shuttle service back to Vancouver and returned to pick me up when my truck was done. I would highly recommend these folks. Superb service, friendly employees and a fair price. Service: Oil change

I've taken my 2005 Sprinter Mercedes Pleasure Way van to three shops to resolve issues with overheating with no success. Last week it was taken to AG Automotive in Portland. Today I picked it up and drove it to Eugene with no problems. They found a broken exhaust manifold bolt and found the head gasket leaking at the rear of the engine. Expensive repairs but the issues are resolved. I appreciate there thorough inspection and timely repairs. I highly recommend AG Automotive

These guys bent over backwards trying to help us get our car repaired. They taxied my wife around to school early and late. They worked with us to help determine what should be repaired right away and what could safely wait. Special thanks to Shawn!

I was in a tight spot to get a tire patched in order to get to a medical appointment on time. A quick internet search pulled AG Automotive up as the first result and conveniently 5 minutes from the hotel. Kirk took my call and listened to my struggle story and though his schedule was full, he took considerable initiative to fit us in and fix our tire to get my family back on the road with plenty of time to make the appointment! The facility is so clean and organized and all the staff very professional and friendly!

I have a 2000 F250 7.3 Diesel and was experiencing a loss of power when under heavy loads. I took the truck to AG to get it looked at because I was hoping to not go under the hood anymore since I had my surgery even though I had some automotive training in the past and know something about it. It was feeling like it was just running out of fuel on the hills so I was not too concerned about anything too serious when I took it in.

That is why I was so shocked when the first inspection came back recommending $4308.72 in repairs called a estimate of deferred work. The inspection included everything under the sun like replacing the steering gear box, front end alignment, wiper blades, sway bar bushings, brake job, cooling system work and rear axle service. The list did not even include anything on the engine to address the loss of power problem.

Then came a repair authorization for me to sign that totaled an additional $7678.53 that included the engine repairs that might fix the loss of power problem that I was originally there for but also had things like suspension ball joints and wheel bearings and drive shaft rebuild. The topping on the cake was $80 to remove the mouse nest in the engine valley.

At this point you are thinking this guys truck must be a real pile of junk when in fact it is one of the cleaner trucks of that age that you will see. Yes, it has 300K on it but not a dent and those can go 500k or more. I don't expect to make it a new truck but they wanted to up-sell me service for $12000. After paying $364 for the free courtesy inspection I decided it was time to make a run for it so I did.

Oh yes, It turns out the power problem was being caused by the ICP sensor which is a known problem with those 7.3 engines, a $250 part and a few hours labor. This part was on their list but impossible to identify from all the other stuff in there. The part and labor should have been $900 at most. I feel sorry for those who don't know and just authorize all the work and pay the money.

Fantastic service, these guys have fixed issues other mechanics ignored. They regularly tell us like it is and charge reasonable rates. It's not necessarily cheap but it's always done right and stays fixed. As a business we find this much more valuable. Instead of paying to fix something multiple times, these guys do it right the first time. Huge thanks to Kirk and his diesel team!

I live nearby so AG auto is very convenient for me. I've had them do work on two of my older Japanese cars. Both run on gas - they didn't have any problem with that. Shawn was very helpful polite and pleasant to work with. He understood that my budget was tight so he worked with me to diagnose the issues and helped make short and long term maintenance plans. I've been driving one of the cars for about a year now and I have to say that I was so satisfied that I had them take care of the other one recently! Outstanding service!

Dealerships suck, but this place is worse. If you don't care how long your repairs will take and have zero understanding about how a car works then this may be a somewhat ok option, but for all others smarter than a screwdriver this place is an enormous scam. First, they will inspect your whole vehicle (even though you didn't ask them to), and then push all sorts of "urgent" repairs on you before they'll do the work you actually requested them to. They'll charge an outrageous "diagnosis" fee for basically everything under the sun (again, even things you didn't ask them to diagnose!) You'll be waiting and waiting for them to conduct your repairs, but rest assured it will take longer than it should. Days will pays while you have no way to get to work or run your own business due to a lack of vehicle. You'll have no choice but to give in and pay their tremendously inflated prices just to get your vehicle out of there.

I could have saved thousands had I gone elsewhere. Vague and misleading estimates that always end up costing more than expected (a lot more!). Their shop rate is 150 to 200$ per hour, even if they are just simply replacing an air filter (which I again did not ask them to replace, nor authorize them to charge me for!) If you end up at AG you should question everything they bill you for, because most of the charges don't actually have substance and are just bonus dollars they will try to extract from your wallet.

Who can afford several hundred dollars to lubricate door locks and inspect windshield wipers!? You will be sorry you ever walked into AG, I can assure you that. If you are lost when it comes to car repairs please just go to the dealer. At least with a dealer you'll know your getting quality service promptly, instead of hoping this band of part peddlers will ever fulfill the actual concerns you have about your vehicle. *It's likely that the positive reviews on here were written by the sleazy AG salesmen themselves.

Fantastic experience! My partner and I are both nurses in the Portland area. AG offered free oil change; COVID 19 treatment - a disinfectant run through the vent system, I believe; as well as pick up and drop off - all completely free of charge for all healthcare professionals. First, WOW! How awesome is that?! (I definitely sent over a case of beer as a small thank you!) Here's my experience - AG was extremely communicative from the beginning through the end.

They went out of their way to accommodate our schedules and preferences as they set up pickup and drop off times. The staff has been exceptionally kind and respectful to deal with and dropped off the 2 vehicles (2000 F250 7.3l & 2015 Jeep Patriot) ahead of schedule. They did an extremely detailed inspection of every system/ fluid level and sent a list of all recommendations with zero pressure to purchase the work with them.

In fact, they didn't even ask, but rather sent over the sheet with the list of items they recommended repairing along with full color photos. Upon arrival in the afternoon, they noted that they had also had the outsides of our vehicles washed for us for free as well. I cannot recommend their services enough. Thank you, AG!

AG Automotive was very professional servicing my 2004 Dodge 4x4 diesel truck. It broke down on the freeway and I had it towed to AG Auto based on someone’s recommendation (break down was across town from my home). Kirk was there to greet me at the door, no problem getting into a service bay and work started the next morning. They did a thorough vehicle inspection and kept in touch via my preferred method (text).

I was informed of the estimated costs as inspection and work progressed and we easily agreed on scope of work. Final cost came in slightly below the latest estimate. Diesel trucks are not cheap for parts or labor but for that you expect professional grade work. AG Automotive did not disappoint and I am very happy with the prompt excellent work. Kirk was super easy to work with and his mechanics are great (never met them but their work says everything). I’ve had work done by great service departments and incompetent wrenchers.

After my 2008 Sprinter with 327,000 miles had a turbo failure coming home from Glacier National Park, AG Automotive was recommended to me by a trusted friend who also has a Mercedes Sprinter. He told me AG was really thorough, friendly, professional, and definitely cheaper than the local Mercedes dealership. "Saved me thousands" was his quote. That's a pretty good endorsement.

I have used the Mercedes dealership for a few things and have no complaints, (except cost?) but it's nice to know there are options. And, I have taken my van to another mechanic in Portland that works on Sprinters that I can't recommend. So I have some experience in the "when your van breaks down" department. If you have an adventure van, you know that these vehicles are also your home, your dreams, your way of life, almost a member of your family- so finding a mechanic that you trust is paramount. Here's what I can I say about AG Automotive: they are awesome! Kirk was quick to get my van diagnosed, great at communication and kept me in the loop at all the right steps.

I felt like they did the repairs super fast but didn't cut corners. They gave me a great warranty on the parts and their work. I will definitely take my van back to them for all my repairs. Kirk and the AG team went above and beyond to exceed my expectations.

I am very happy with the service I received. I managed to get a same day appointment, which was great. They also found a patch in the side wall of one of my tires, that no one was aware of, which could have led to some very serious damage. The only thing I would say is maybe don't get your windshield wipers done there. That was a little more spendy than is necessary. But the rest of their prices were very reasonable and the staff were all great!

Avoid! Big time scammers! I've brought my ford there 2 times and they charge you an outrageous diagnosis fee around the 250 to 300 mark. And that's just to diagnose a certain area of the vehicle. Not a full inspection! After they look at it they try to find the most expensive way to fix your truck. The last time I was there the quote for fixing the problem was more than half of what the truck was worth. Ridiculous! Scammers! Beware

Would not recommend this shop. I took a newly purchased truck (03 cummins) to have it looked over. The truck would not come out of park. They charged a hefty $250+ for diag. Recommended the truck have the transmission completely redone quoted over 7K in work alone. I took it to another shop that fixed the shifting problem as well as doing a full tune up on the transmission for $700. They possibly do quality work but not at a price worth finding out.

I just want to thank these guys for repairing some major mechanical mistakes made to my vintage 1945 school bus by another company. The bus had been converted into a 1992 Dodge D350 with a cummins 5.9 engine that had to be replace because of a botched oil change. They were thorough in diagnosing and resolving the problems. I highly recommend this company. Sean The Vintage Tour Bus Co.

This Shop is worse, than going to any dealership, in your worst nightmare, I took My 2014 Ram into these guys, the Oil sending unit went out, I have had a construction business for more than Thirty Years, and have owned, a lot of trucks, so just saying, I have dealt with multiple dealership, and Construction equipment shops, but I never seen anyone, come up with so many charges, when you take your vehicle in for One Item, I ended up paying this Shop over $ 3700.00 and it cost me 8 days rental on a pickup, that was an additional $1400.00 for an oil sending unit and Two batteries, that probably didn't need to be changed anyways.

I could go further in detail with this Nightmare experience, but I will leave at this point. I Would Never Take a Vehicle to AG Diesel repair. Beware of The Snake Oil salesman!.

I was traveling in my RV and got an alarm. Went to O'Reilly's where they ran a free diagnostic for me.two glow plugs had failed. Found AG Diesel and went in for repairs. They charged $125 to confirm my diagnosis. Then they were very aggressive about trying to get me to agree to a couple thousand more in PMs and replacing all of the glow plugs.

I said no thanks, I'd rather go to my regular Mercedes dealer shop in San Diego. When I went to my local repair shop they said that not only was NONE of the recommended work needed, but one of the recommended PMs is NEVER done on my vehicle! Keep your hand firmly on your wallet if you use this place.

Very scary. We have a Mercedes Sprinter van. Took it in for a pre-purchase inspection. It came out with an estimate of 5 to $10,000 worth of work recommended. In addition to a laundry list of things recommended to be done, (some minor and correctly needed attention, like broken part, fog light bulb out, wiper fluid hose reattachment), the following was strongly recommended for fear of expensive damage to the engine and would cost upwards of $6,000. Induction service with 3 bottles of cleaner fuel system service DPF service Engine oil flush Called the Mercedes dealer and they said that they don't even do induction services.

It typically is not needed. That saves $4,000 right there. Also the DPF would only have to be cleaned because of the induction service which would kick down a bunch of soot into the DPF. Also another mechanic looked at the oil and said that it was fine for how much time it had been in the engine. This mechanic said that the transmission fluid might need to be changed but didn't recommend a flush.

Another shop inspected the vehicle and said it was in great condition, fluid levels looked good and nothing pressing needed to be taken care of. If a Mercedes dealer and an independent separate mechanic are on the same page I'm very concerned that this shop is using fear to upsell people to the tune of thousands of dollars. I feel sorry for people who have no mechanical knowledge or who don't go to the lengths that I've had to go in order to research this. I hope this helps.

Couldn't recommend these folks more. After getting the runaround from two other shops, I brought my truck here for a painless, speedy experience by friendly and knowledgeable mechanics. Do yourself a favor and skip all the other schmucks and just go straight to them.

Took my Sprinter to these folks a few days ago, routine maintenance oil change, fuel filter, etc. Standard stuff. My Sprinter is only two years old, should be in great shape, right? I didn't read reviews before I made my appointment, which is my fault. Pretty much the same thing all the other reviewers say. Not good. I Will not be returning. My complaints include: - Instant sales pitch the second I walked in. Pushing a maintenance schedule with 4 times more oil changes than the factory recommendations. FOUR TIMES MORE! - Packaged the repairs (oil change package, then separate fuel filter package) in a way that maximized my cost.

About double what you would expect to pay at a third party shop - about par with what you pay at the dealer. - Did not refill my DEF fluid, even though the service indicated "check and top off ALL FLUIDS". - I also asked them put my winter tires on while I was there. The tire change price was actually pretty normal. However, my tires were not aired up to spec.

A day later one of the tires was COMPLETELY FLAT. - A friend of mine made an oil change appointment the same day as I did, so we could carpool. They apparently got too busy making a the list of other repairs to sell him, because they never got around to actually changing the oil in his van. Makes me think I should probably confirm they actually did the work on my invoice.

So overall a terrible experience. I agree with what the other reviewers say: high prices, all about upselling, and poor quality work. Pretty much all the things I don't want in a trusted vehicle repair advisor.

These guys are Number one in my book! Lots of information and I learned quite a lot from them in the 2 times I was here. Lance was my advisor and he is more than willing to explain things fully and clearly! They helped me out IMMENSELY while I was in a tight spot! This is my new Diesel shop hands down no questions asked! I recently mend these guys to anyone!

I paid nearly $400 just for them to look at my vehicle and conduct mild testing. Nothing time consuming or rigorous by any means. I can say that they did a sufficient job with testing however, I was deeply disatisfied with the consultant I worked with to repair my vehicle. In the notes he copied me on, he mistakingly left in a rude comment directed to the technicians regarding my apparent lack of knowledge on vehicle parts.

Here is a copy&paste portion of the sentance from my report, clearly insinuating that I am an ignorant bafoon: ".he does not know what that is.lol." I am appalled at the level of immaturity and unprofessional nature that I experienced from this shop. For the premium you pay, I would accept nothing but professionalism, modesty, and kind communication. Don't visit AG Diesel unless you plan on paying WAY too much for testing and becoming the victim of frivelous insults as the techs and consultants chatter behind your back (or type it out onto paper.lol) - Grow up.

Shawn, thank you so much for the pictures. As you know for the last 7 years I've been working with Northwest Jeep for my diesel maintenance. I wasn't aware of the complete and excellent service that I could get at a shop until I came to AG diesel. Your process is the best I've ever seen made better only by the professionals in your shop. I look forward to getting my diesel repaired and maintained, as it should, through your shop and people, thanks again, Mark

Have a power stroke Diesel. Knew I had some sort of head gasket issue or that it was likely. Took it to AG for a diagnostic. They would not quote me a price over the phone. I know this means expensive, but I needed a good diagnostic. I dropped it off Sunday night. 2 business days later I had not heard from them. I Called and they said it was still in diag.

Next day they called at noon and said I needed to authorize level 1 diagnostic, whatever that means. They said they had too many hours in it for my $120 fee. Said they had 2 or 3 hours already.? Really? You had it for 3 full days! Before I even dropped it off, they knew it was my work truck and that delays meant income loss. Couldn't pick it up until Thursday afternoon.

The only reason for 2 stars is I at least have a diagnosis. Very poor business model. On top of that, they want $16000. I can get it done for $5k. Super expensive, slow, cagey with sales tactics. They probably do good work. EIS, or a dealer would be a better choice if you need your truck for business.

I had my 04 powerstroke taken to AG to get a set of injectors done, amongst other things needing repair as well, I dealt mostly with Kirk Erickson who was an absolute pleasure to work with, keeping me updated all throughout the process, my vehicle was completed much quicker then I could have ever asked for and its running great a year later with only general maintenance don't between!

I've been using AG Diesel since 2012 (4+ years) and they really do superior quality work. From general maintenance, to great advice and even half an engine rebuild due to a bad head gasket the parts they choose and the work they do is top notch. I see a lot of comments that they are more expensive. While in some cases that may be true sometimes, for me its "you get what you pay for." My truck is critical to me when pulling 10k+ pounds and breakdowns are not acceptable, I have full confidence after they have worked on my truck something else won't go wrong because of that repair and the original issue won't return.

Whenever I drop my truck off there I have no doubts its in good hands and will get great treatment. Diesel trucks can be expensive to maintain but putting better quality parts in and having people who know what they are doing can really make them last well beyond the 500k marker. They even do custom modification work and in my case support all the custom mods my truck already had, which I love. I will continue to take my 2008 6.4L F250 there in the future.

Went in here for a DEQ test and walked out with a smile. These people were incredibly friendly, efficient and honest. Not only did I complete everything in my lunch break, but shawn went a step further and even completed my online renewal for the state! Its refreshing to see a company that cares about it customers

The customer service was the best I have had in years, everything discussed before the work and several texts on discovery to take care of while there. Communication was excellent and appreciated.

Excellent repair and very complete. Kept me informed and gave me written issues about the repairs.

AG took care of my Volkswagen TDI when I needed a new timing belt. They kept me informed throughout the process and got me in and out very quickly. They also got me set up with a regular maintenance schedule so I don’t have to worry about what I need to be doing in the future. I definitely found my Diesel shop.

Any one who is in need of diesel repair, I highly recommend this place. Shawn, the technician working with me, was very friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was done in a very professional manner. And most important of all, it was done with full disclosure, down to the most minute detail. Above all, a five star experience!

My experience at AG Diesel Repair was most excellent, the customer service was very awesome almost like your family and the employees were also very friendly, the shop is very clean and up to date. I will recommend you guys to everyone I know, my truck runs so awesome, you guys are the best.

AG Diesel does a complete diagnosis of everything, it is amazing what can be found wrong that I did not even know about until I took a good look for myself! I appreciate the thorough evaluation of my 2002 Chev pickup, then the repairs are far superior to anywhere else I have taken it to. Thank you guys.
