Advanced Auto Repair and Towing was incorporated, in Davis, in May of 1982 and opened it's doors in July of 1982. It has always been at its original location at 965 Olive Drive and has expanded four different times. Originally it had three employees and 1200 square feet of shop space. It now has 8000 square feet of shop space and seven employees to serve you.
In 1989, the shop converted from messy hand written invoices and ledgers to a completely automated bookkeeping system. Now our computer has your vehicle's history available within seconds to help you maintain and prolong the life of your car.

No car will run forever without proper care and maintenance. At some time or other we must all drive our car in to be serviced. If you need an appointment immediately or on the following day, please call us at 530-756-8100. Smog inspections appointments are scheduled M-F from 8:00 to 11:00 and from 12:00 to 4:30.
Advanced Auto Repair and Towing warrants to the original customer that its repair work is free of defects in material and workmanship for a period of twelve months from the day the vehicle is delivered or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first, with the following exceptions listed below. If a problem occurs with repairs, return the vehicle to Advanced Auto Repair and Towing and it will be corrected at no additional cost. Advanced Auto Repair and Towing will reimburse towing charges for up to $75.00 on related warranty repairs.

I bought a 1993 Toyota Camry a couple weeks ago and when I took it to smog, it failed. Furthermore, it would intermittently bog down at 2000 rpm and I couldn't figure out why. Now these Toyotas are known to be good running reliable cars, and even though my car was 28 years old, it only had 155000 miles on it and looked to be taken care of all its life.
So I called around to find out who would fix the problem and was shocked when I discovered that most automotive places will not touch a vehicle, especially where smog is concerned, if it is made before 1995. So Now I had a dilemma. if I can't get her smogged, then I can't get tags and I would have to get rid of the car. So with one last effort, I called Advanced Auto in Davis and to my amazement, they were more than willing to take up the challenge.
And a challenge it was. they went through the entire exhaust system and finally discovered that my PCM sensor, which is the brain of the vehicle, was faulty. Upon putting a new PCM sensor in the vehicle, it ran beautifully like it was brand new. They were so professional and what impresses me most is the fact that they didn't give up when it seemed for a moment that all avenues were just about exhausted.
And even more impressive was the fact that they kept me informed daily of what was going on. I just have to say that Advanced Auto Repair in Davis are some of the finest mechanics around. The professional courtesy of keeping me informed and making me feel like they were not giving up on pinpointing what the problem was is second to none. And after all was said and done, the bill was much less than I had anticipated to the point where I felt like giving them a tip!
They put so much time, care and effort into my 28 year old vehicle as if it was just coming off the showroom floor. Yes, they will always have my business and if anyone is reading this review, they should have yours as well! Highly recommend. I visited here to replace the timing belt in my Ody and the experience was excellent. I got a reasonable quote and their service was also good. They used reliable parts and returned my car in a timely manner. Also, I asked to replace cam/crankshaft seal at the same time. But after inspection, the mechanic advised me to do that at the next timing belt replacement since the parts were in a good condition. Saved money on that.

I've been coming here for 10 years and I've been blown away by how well they've taken care of me and my cars. When I come in and say I want X and Y done they do X and Y. Maybe they recommend Z, but they always take care of what I need and explain it in a way I understand. Prices are good and work has always been done right. The only one time when the job wasn't done right they took it back, fixed it in a day and gave it back no charge. That was something to do with the transmission on the Volvo back when Paul was still there.

I would recommend Advance Auto Repair and Towing to anyone who need their vehicle serviced or smog. Kevin is a great mechanic and a honest man! I bought a vehicle for my dad but the vehicle wasn't smogged. So before heading to DMV by 9am, I stopped by Advance Auto Repair at 7:30am. They don't start their service until 8am but David was super kind and helpful which we got the paper work all finished. Kevin smogged my vehicle and then did some observation of the vehicle.
For $500, the vehicle was in great shape and passed smog! I was in and out and made it to DMV 30 minutes early which it only took me 15 minutes to register the car. Overall, I would recommend Advanced Auto Repair and Towing to anyone in need of car help. ^.^

I've been using Advanced Auto Repair and Towing for many years to keep my Acura running in tip-top shape. They are very good about explaining which repairs should be considered high-priority and which repairs are non-essential which is great if you're on a tight budget. The staff and mechanics are friendly, trustworthy, and they have always done a superb job for me.
