This place has really bad customer service. My son had an appointment and went inside to let them know he was there. The man inside named John was completely rude off the bat. He started yelling right away that he was booked and to get out of the shop. My son was completely shocked cause he had an appointment but John continued to yell get out of the shop while following him outside.

Even if this man John is overwhelmed or overbooked there is a better way he could have handled the situation. This behavior and customer service was unnecessary and totally uncalled for.

Terrible customer service! I called and made an appointment with the owner John. When I came in and stated who I was he instantly started yelling at me and told me I never made an appt and started calling me names it was VERY RUDE! He didn't even look in his system for my appt just told me to get out of his shop. I do NOT recommend coming here!

Edit: I also took my mustang here because I lost a gear. They had it in and out within the same time frame as my truck for a complete rebuild. They also added a shift kit to pep up the feel of the car. Every time someone mentions their transmission I always bring up Ace and tell them where they're located. I called asking if they could check it out and give me a quote on it and the owner Johnny walked me through the entire process and it was nice and simple and laid out for me. I liked the price and had my truck back within a week. Once I came in to pay for it I also got to check out all of the parts that were replaced. Simple and easy

I took my Jaguar S--Type in to have the shifter fixed. I thought the price was going to be crazy. Actually it was under 500 to fix it. Ace transmission is a honest, friendly, far shop. I would recommend Ace transmission to anyone with transmission problems. Thanks to John and his team. Great job

I wish I had discovered the team at ACE about 4 decades ago, because they would have saved me tons of heartache over the years in finding an incredible, customer-oriented, and extremely capable team of professionals. My son and i brought them a "problem child" vehicle from the start.it has been a long journey to its fully restored operation, however, i couldn't be more pleased with the honesty and customer service. i wouldn't hesitate to go back with any mechanical issue - ever! Top notch!

Fantastic job fixing my transmission. Fair priced. John was friendly, curtious, and very good with updates and communication. Not just transmissions either. They do it all. I'll be back!

The owner, Johnny, is one of my favorite people I've met in the automotive industry. He's honest. He's informative. And he knows his product. Him and his team, got my car back to me in a timely fashion. And saved us a buttload of money in the process. Because they didn't actual repair. Vs., a replacement. Which is what everybody else wants to do. Personally, I sincerely appreciate having somebody fix the issue is my car. Vs.

Put that issue right back in my car in the disguise of a new transmission. Because when a C grade engineer builds a problem into a vehicle. It often takes an A grade technician, to fix it.

I'm honestly trying to figure out where some of these bad reviews are coming from. I was having transmission issues and John spent a lot of time preparing different options for me. He was able to stay within my budget and justify the cost of the options. John is an honest and hardworking business owner and those are hard to find these days. He was upfront with the pros and cons of each of the repair options I had.

You can really tell that it's about the customer with these guys. About a week after my repair, my check engine light came on. Thankfully it was just a bad O2 sensor, but John scanned my car without charging me because "I'm one of his customers." Nobody likes transmission issues because let's be honest, it's one of the costliest problems a car owner faces.

Sometimes in life, it's better to pay for quality than to just look for the cheapest option. Ace has some of the best warranty coverage around. I had a great experience with Ace and working with them changed the perspective I had about mechanics. I recommend anybody to call John if they are in need of transmission help.

A couple of years ago my 2003 Bonneville transmission went out. I did a lot of research and spoke to several shops in the area. I made my choice and took my car to Ace to have the transmission rebuilt. They had it for a week which seemed realistic. I am going on two and half years 50,000 trouble free miles. I recommend these guys to everyone that I know.

This past week my soon took his 2005 Grand Prix to Ace. My son thought his transmission was slipping. Ace tested his transmission and said it was good. All for FREE! They diagnosed the problem to be a motor mount. Now that is truly honesty! This is why they get my business. Thanks ACE

Literally the WORST customer service experience I have ever had. I found this place on a top ten of west MI list. I called them up and they promised me the world. Free towing from my home on the other side of town, free diagnostic (even though I already knew what the problem was), a mid range repair quote, and even favorable hours so I wouldn't have to take time off work when I needed to visit the shop.

Even before my car got there they started taking away these perks. The free towing turned into free standard towing and since I'm so far away I got stuck with a $50 bill over the "standard". Next they confirmed I wasn't lying about the symptoms and took it apart to find the exact part I told them was broken was in fact broken. The final estimate after it was apart was DOUBLE the initial estimate!

But it was already in pieces so I decided to have them finish the job. When it was completed and I went in to pick up my car the service agent was extremely rude and impatient. And would not honor their online coupon because I hadn't mentioned it way back before the car even got there. Eventually he did agree to half the coupon discount. By the way, bring a money order because they charge 3% on credit cards, that's a big chunk of change for a major rebuild.

Eventually all the paperwork was finished, money changed hands and I went back after two weeks for the check up and start of the 2yr warranty. Two months later I'm putting the winter wheels on and there is transmission fluid covering the bottom of the car! I called Ace immediately and I get yelled at! You need to bring it in now, if you wait it can get burned up and it might not be covered by the warranty, bring it today, you need to bring it today! Seriously? That's not how you talk to customers.

We have lives and day jobs you know. I understand and I told you that I was not driving the car but you continued your rant. Completely unacceptable I brought my car in and the next day picked it up being told they Teflon taped the drain plug and reinstalled it. I went on my way fingers crossed. Now it's a couple weeks later and you guessed it, there's a puddle of fluid under the car and I'm livid.to be continued

I would actually give 0 stars if I could. I called Ace because of a coupon in the local area coupon booklet. It was for a transmission fluid replacement (not a flush but they drain fluid and replace with new fluid). The coupon stated I could have this service performed on my vehicle for just under $65. It was like $63.95 basically $65. I dropped my vehicle off the night before so they could replace the fluid in the morning.

The owner card to tells that it would be $150 to have this work done on my vehicle because it was a Dodge and used different fluid. The coupon would not be honored. I asked if I could just pay the difference in price of fluid and he said he's not doing that because he doesn't have to. I replied by telling him that the coupon didn't say that Dodge Intrepids were excluded from the deal.

He replied with "yes it does say that, it says coupon valid on most makes and models." There were no specific exclusions stated on the coupon so pretty much he was pulling a bait and switch. Because you could call with any make or model and he could say that vehicle is excluded. And he did say that. I had two other people call on different days. One person had a Ford vehicle and the other had a GM vehicle and he found a reason to exclude them from this coupon.

Not only was he unscrupulous and dishonest in his advertising, he was extremely rude and condescending. He also insulted me and said if I don't like it then to pick up my car and beat it. I have never had a business owner of any establishment talk to me like that. It is amazing he has any business at all. That man is shady and very, very rude. I do NOT recommend taking your vehicle to ACE transmission.

I had bad leaks and my transmission started to slip on me. I came to Ace because I have been there before. They had fixed my '99 F-150 rear end and did a beautiful job. This time it was my 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. I knew they were honest and would do a good job, and they did. I am very satisfied.

My 03 Mountaineer started slipping gears on me. Having 200,000 miles on it, I was nervous about putting money into it, however, taking a chance I took it to Ace Transmissions since they offer a NO CHARGE diagnostic. My truck needed a rebuild. What I appreciated about ACE was before doing any of the work, the manager explained in detail the service they would provide and the exact cost and time it would take. It has been driving great ever since. Thank you Ace!

We have taken both of our vehicles to Ace. Initially one for routine service, and the other to repair a slipping transmission. The rebuild on the PT Cruiser transmission in December of 2010 convinced me of the quality of the technicians employed by Ace. The car was better than new with that repair. We have decided to keep it longer than anticipated, with confidence that major repairs will be minimal for the next few years.

More recently, Ace saved me a great deal of trouble on the highway by diagnosing and repairing the rear axle gears and bearings in my 10 year old van. We were preparing to go cross country with the grandchildren and did not need any problems along the way. The improvement in drivability was amazing! Thanks Johnny and crew! I am a happy and satisfied customer of Ace Transmission on Plainfield. They have received lots of my money, but it has been worth every penny.
