A car's air conditioner works like any standard air conditioner but on a much smaller scale. It's important to note that a vehicle's A/C doesn't produce cold air; instead, it removes heat from the air entering its system. The refrigerant in your vehicle alternates between a gaseous and liquid state.
Auto repair is an all-encompassing term. Auto repair can include many things, like brake repair, exhaust repair, tune-ups, and much, much more. If you have a question about general auto repair or a specific service, don't hesitate to call 59 Auto Repair at 815-254-9959 today! We have been serving Plainfield and the nearby communities since 1999.
In a city like Plainfield, we know that you care about the environment and may choose to drive a hybrid car. The first hybrid was created in 1899 by Ferdinand Porsche; it used a gasoline engine to supply power to an electric motor that powered the vehicle's front wheels. The demand for hybrids began to wane, however, when Henry Ford started the first automobile assembly line in 1904.

I mistakenly took my 2008 Ford F-150 to 2 other shops to diagnose a stalling and misfire issue. I was quoted thousands of dollars for unnecessary repairs and the other shops damaged parts while performing shoddy work. 59 Auto Repair had it diagnosed and repaired in 2 days. The other shops had it for over a week each time and never were able to diagnose the problem.

Their rates are a bit higher than some other shops but that is nothing compared to the extra money you pay for unnecessary repairs and shoddy work. I highly recommend them as they are true professionals. Just wish I had found them sooner.

I do want to be clear on this right upfront that I did NOT have my truck serviced here. I'm rating this only from my phone call experience asking about a repair. All I needed to have done was to heat up and loosen 4 bolts on my axle shaft so I may replace my U-joint. The Gentleman on the phone refused to do so saying, "Our insurance policies do not permit us to get in the middle of a customer's work.

We have to do the whole job and use our own parts." There is/was no middle of any work! I stated that I don't have a torch to heat them up and I know my compressor won't be powerful enough to operate an impact gun. I never even started any work, so the middle of what.? I was going to let this go and not review anything at all, but then I remembered the experience I had in June of 2021 with my wife's car and I said the same thing to myself, so here is that experience. Again, this is a phone conversation and her car was NOT actually worked on here. 2005 PT Cruiser both front bearings needed replacement. quoted $750.00 PER SIDE. Wow, the parts are about 120 bucks and 3 hours labor for both.

Both sides were quoted for less than $500.00 and included an alignment at 3 other shops with one being slightly over 500, but nowhere near $1,500. Judging by the reviews, I will say they seem like a nice facility and it is always busy so I would definitely say the do quality work since people keep coming back. My suggestion, do your homework and never ever mention anything about wanting something YOU want done. Since I have not had any actual work done there I cannot in good faith give a 1 star rating although I want to, but I can and will give a 3 star rating

After taking my 2016 Ford F 150 Lariat to 4 different auto shops with zero results about my unknown battery drain I was at my wits end! I contacted 59 Auto repair in Plainfield and told them about my problem and asked them if they could get the truck diagnosed and fix the pain in the butt problem that plagued me for 6 months they told me to bring it in.

I dropped the truck off and after hours of searching they finally found the problem! I shorted out driver's seat memory switch! They said they have never seen this problem until now! I was so happy they found and corrected the issue! These guys are professional and kept me updated on the progress the whole way! This is now my go to auto repair shop! Thanks to the great technicians they have I was finally able to get it fixed! Much Thanks Guys!

I just wanted to share my experiences with this shop, I took my 2010 toyota prius hybrid The 1st time they charge me $1300. And the problem didn't get fixed. So. So when back next week they charge me another $955. The following week I was back in the shop and then they try to charge me $7700 for a new engine. Why they didn't tell me at the 1st time that I need a new engine and not make me spend $ 2300. I do not recommend this shop to anybody.

My neighbor recommended this place and since we are new to the area I took her up. They got my car in right away and told me everything I needed repaired but what needed done right away which I thought was awesome, some places might call and tell you 2000 in repairs are due now. When I picked it up they were so friendly and professional that we will definitely go back. highly recommend!

13 months ago I had 2 radiator hoses replaced and coolant flushed at their recommendation. Last month saw coolant leaking on garage floor. Took the car to Blaine's Auto in Plainfield for the fix. Not knowing who did the work they said both new hoses failed and leaked at the clamps, one hose was an inch and a half too short - and were aftermarket parts.

Since the work was warranted for 24 months at 59 Auto, I emailed them and expressed my dissatisfaction. That was 2 weeks ago - no response. Check out Blaine's in Plainfield - a quality 5 star shop.

I been to this shop a few times and they always do good work, but their price quotes are always off. Compare to few shops close by they are always 20-30 percent higher, they use good quality parts but parts are only warranted for a short length of time. For brakes and such is it worth it to use better quality or just good parts for cheaper. I like the work they perform, but i like saving money more especially on a older car. This will probably be the last time i go there simply because prices are just too high compared to other shops that is just as qualified.

From the time I owned my first car I brought it to 59 Auto Repair. When I moved out of state for a couple years I knew I found my new shop when it "felt like 59." Fast forward 6 years and I now am blessed to work for them and couldn't be happier. I recommend them to everyone I know! Of course we're all human, but don't let that stop you from becoming a part of an awesome shop that strives for excellence!

After spending $700 on repairs the car still wasn't fixed. Had it towed back to them and they said noting was wrong. Brought it to a real mechanic and they fixed the car in 3 hours. I called Dave and he doesn't stand behind his work. I should have read the other reviews on how bad this place is BEFORE I went there.

You never like taking your car in for a repair but this place has an honest reputation. They do good work in a timely manner with honest prices and their best quality is probably their constant communication via texts and email as well as phone call. They also were able to take care of all of the communication with my warranty service. The only downside is that they are often packed full and it is difficult to get a last minute repair in day of.

We took our car in to get the engine light fixed we told them what we thought was wrong and they said they fixed it. About a block away it turned back on so we went there again and yet again they said they fixed it. We were not even out of the parking lot and it turned back on! We went back in and told them it keeps turning back on. They said they did test drives and it wasnt turning on.

So we sat in the lobby to wait and we saw a mechanic drive our car along with two others into the shop like a mad man! So now we are back for the third time, have already paid about $520 and it's still not fixed also the man by the cashier is rude. We asked about our bill and he was getting all upset with us saying well most of it was on the labor. But. Why are we paying for labor that obviously was not done right.

This is probably the most unprofessional auto repair facility I have ever had to deal with. I made an appointment for service and dropped my car off at 9 in the morning. Well I work across the parking lot and noticed that throughout the day that my car never moved. I went in just after 5pm to retrieve my keys, and was told the tech was going to stay late to look at it.

Well they never called or texted to let me know that. They also didn't seem to concerned that I was going to take my business elsewhere or that I would post this review.

This place is unbelievable. We were on our way last year to ISU for our daughters concert when the serpentine belt blew. We got off the highway and called AAA. They had us towed to 59 Auto Repair. They replaced the tensioner and belt in no time. Great service and prices. We were able to make the concert with time to spare. I wish we lived in the area so we could use them on a regular basis.

Took my 07 F-250 to the local Ford dealership for an oil change. They told me I had a transmission line leaking going to the radiator. They told me the cost to repair and I was shocked. So I started looking for an auto repair shop. Saw good reviews here on yelp for 59 auto. Took my truck in and they were very nice and they came to the same conclusion that Ford did.

New radiator and hoses but for almost half the cost. They were not pushy. Laid out the cost and said think it over and give us a call. I just decided to do it. They said parts would be in Tuesday and they called Tuesday and said the parts were in. Dropped it off Tuesday night and they called Wednesday before noon that it was done and came in $70 under the estimate!

I was surprised. Long story longer, i had an excellent experience with them and I would go back. I recommend 59 auto repair. To the guy that said it was highway robbery for the labor cost, what did you think? They were going to do it for free? They lay out the cost of parts and labor on the invoice. They don't try to hid anything. Just sayin.

I give this place 5 stars for good quality work, honest quotes and warrants their. I'm from Texas never been here before, I thought I know being a black man and from out of town they are going to rip me off. Boy, was I surprised the price was right and service was good. I spent approximately 600.00 that time. That was back in 10/2015. Since then I spent another 5500.00 I did have to come back for warranty issues for my power steering pump 3 times but they made it right. I'm leaving the area going back to Texas me and my truck can't do another winter in Illinois. I highly recommend this place!

The oil change sticker and receipt said they put the wrong type of oil in my car, I called to ask about it and they said "oh they probably put the right oil in just didn't put the right kind on the sticker".probably? What else do they "probably" do? Was my oil actually changed? My filter? When I called the shop to question the type of oil put in my car I asked if he had any paperwork he could check to verify the type of oil they put in my car and he said he would have to look through papers and call me back.

He never did. Also, when I called to make the appointment they said the oil change was something around $30 then when I get there they tell me that is for a basic oil -- I wonder if I got tricked. My oil change was $63.91 to get the synthetic blend oil, the only type of oil the car has had everywhere else for half that price. They didn't even check my filters or bulbs and I know my brakes are getting low. I was looking for a new shop closer to home, now I know better when I find a good place, stick with them.

I had remembered a friend recommending this place years ago. Being the day after Labor Day and realize it is a busy day BUT after calling 7 different shops local to my area this place really helped to accommodate me getting my oil changed quickly. With a super busy schedule it is so hard sometimes to fit these tasks in when it is convenient for me.

Thanks for your super speedy service and courteous staff. Would definitely recommend them to anyone. They also gave me a $15 mail in rebate to use for next oil change or any service. Nice!

Family owned and operated I brought my vehicle in and what a great experience. Everyone was friendly. They figured out what was going on with my truck and they got it back to me the same day without killing my wallet. I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for a honest, reliable and family valued repair shop.

I have to say that I do not want to bash this place because everyone was so nice and were willing to help. I took my 2008 Ford F-150 in there to get a diagnosis. My truck was cutting out and after it got hot it sounded like a diesel. I put my personal computer to diagnosis the problem and it stated that the VCT solenoids needed to be changed. Well, I went to this place to find out if they would have the same diagnosis as I did. Well, they didn't.

They said that my engine was shot and I needed a new one. They quoted me that it would be over $8000.00. I was floored. I went home to see what I needed to do. I decided to get a second opinion. I took my truck to a local Ford Dealership to see if they could give me a little better news. Well, they did. They told me that the VCT solenoids needed to be replaced. (exactly what I had diagnosed with my cheap Mini Bluetooth V1.5 OBD2 Auto Car Diagnostic Scanner Adapter Tool.) They quoted me a price of $700 so I told them to go ahead and replace the solenoids.

It has been a month and 2,000 miles since I had them replaced and my truck hasn't skipped a beat. So, my advice would be get a second opinion. They missed this one by a long shot. Sorry guys! I will not be taking my vehicles to your establishment!

I was very thankful for 59 Auto Repair. My wife was driving on Route 59, and she had a incident where a large plastic bag became stuck under her vehicle. The folks at 59 Auto, assisted my wife, calmed her down, removed the plastics and inspected the vehicle to make sure the vehicle was safe to drive. When she went to checkout, the owner told her there was, to her amazement, no charge.

They had to perfect opportunity to to do the wrong thing and take advance of a person in distress, and they did the right thing, and exceeded expectations. Thanks 59 Auto for being an upstanding repair shop, and if we are in need of service, we will definitely be back.

I have looked all over to find a reliable mechanic in the Chicago area. We stumbled over Route 59 when i was looking to find someone to put a cataltic converter on my SUV. They were willing to put on the part and only charge for labor. Excellent service, decent prices and fair. Everything you would want in a mechanic.
